Application
The Anesthesia Armboard is an attachable accessory for STERIS Surgical Tables (see Before Using Armboard) designed to
support a patient’s arm and maintain the same level with the surgical table top. Manual articulation allows operator to
abduct and adduct the arm as needed. The accessory is intended for mounting on the side rail of a surgical table only.
Serious incidents that have occurred in relation to this medical device should be reported to the manufacturer and
competent authority in the country where the incident occurred.

WARNING
PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD:
Do not use equipment if worn, damaged or cannot be securely tightened. Cracked or
splintered surfaces may cause injury. Inspect armboard prior to use. Damaged
armboard must be replaced. Read and understand all instructions prior to use. If
technical assistance or additional instructions are needed, contact STERIS.
To prevent armboard or table damage, ensure armboard is not installed or moved
parallel to table side rails. This orientation results in damage to armboard and/or
table during table articulations.
As with any unfamiliar patient positioning device, always read the operating
instructions and practice on a nurse, physician or other appropriate volunteer prior to
patient use.
To prevent patient or operator injury, ensure correct attachment to table and verify
clamp locking block is engaged.
Hyperextending patient’s arm beyond 90° may cause nerve damage. Consult with
anesthesiologist regarding safe positioning for each patient.
Install Anesthesia Armboard to surgical tables as follows:
1. Position armboard locking block against side rail and mount armboard to table by pressing down to actuate lock
(see Figure 1-2).
2. Slightly lift armboard, slide it along side rail to desired position.
3. Carefully position patient’s arm on armboard.
4. Pull trigger at end of armboard (on bottom) and rotate armboard and patient’s arm to desired degree of
abduction or adduction.
5. Use provided arm straps (see Figure 1-1) and secure patient’s arm in place on armboard.

2. Place patient’s arm in a safe position.
3. Release locking latch (see Figure 1-2) to unlock armboard.
4. Lift armboard straight up and pull out to remove from side rail.
5. Clean and inspect armboard before placing in storage or preparing for next procedure.
