We recommend that you spend some time reading this instruction manual in order that
you fully understand all the operational features it offers. You will also find some hints and
tips to help you resolve any issues.
Read all the safety instructions carefully before use and keep this instruction manual for
future reference.

To completely disconnect the unit from the mains power, the mains
adapter must be disconnected from the mains socket. Please ensure
that the mains socket is readily accessible.
• Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It if best to avoid
extreme volume when using earphones, especially for extended periods.
• The L/R audio will automatically combined to one single channel.
Power Source
Mains Power
1. This unit operates with a mains adapter (included).
2. Connecting the unit to any other power source may cause damage to the unit.
Unwind the mains adapter to its full length. Connect the mains adapter to the DC
socket on the side of the unit and then a mains socket. Make sure the mains plug
is fully inserted into the mains socket. The unit is now connected and ready to use.
3. To switch the unit off completely, withdraw the mains adapter from the mains
socket.
Connections
Connecting to the Earphones Socket
1. Connect earphones (3.5mm stereo plug) to the earphones socket.
2. Adjust the volume control to obtain the desired volume level.
3. When the earphones are connected, the speakers will automatically mute.

Basic Operation
Powering ON/OFF
• Press the STANDBY button to switch the unit on.
• Press the STANDBY button again to switch the unit back to standby mode.
• Disconnect the mains adapter from the mains socket if you want to switch the
unit off completely.
Selecting Modes
Press the DAB/FM button repeatedly to switch between modes (DAB or FM).
Adjusting the Volume
Adjust the volume to the desired level by pressing the VOL+/– buttons.
Mute Function
Press the SNOOZE/MUTE button to temporarily stop the speakers emitting sound.
The display will show MUTE and flash. To cancel mute and restore the sound, press
the SNOOZE/MUTE button again or the VOL +/– buttons, MUTE will disappear from
the display.
Setting the Time
The clock can only set and be updated if you can receive DAB signals in your location.
In order for the clock to synchronise to the current local time you must leave it
on one DAB station for a short period of time. If after 3 minutes the clock has not
automatically set itself try repositioning the radio to get a better reception.
If the radio cannot find a DAB frequency to set the clock. You can use the FM mode
(some FM stations also transmit time and date information).
1. Switch to FM mode by pressing the DAB/FM button.
2. Search for a station by pressing the SCAN button.
3. Press the DISPLAY button repeatedly to explore the time & date display.
4. If the FM station is transmitting time it will set itself automatically. Please be aware
that not all FM stations transmit the time. If the time does not set after 3 minutes
then press the SCAN button to find another station. Repeat until the time is set.

Setting the Alarm
This unit incorporates an alarm function. You can have dual alarm wake-up time and
wake-up mode settings to wake you with a beep tone, or your favourite radio station.
To set the alarm clock in STANDBY mode or ON mode:
1. Press the ALARM1

buttons and hold for a few seconds. The
display will show Alarm 1 Time Set” or Alarm 2 Time Set” and the minute digits
will flash.
2. Press the
buttons to adjust the minute digits, and then press the SELECT/
button to confirm.
3. The hour digits will flash. Press the
buttons to adjust the hour digits, and
then press the SELECT/ button to confirm.
4. Press the
buttons to select the volume level, and then press the SELECT/
button to confirm.
5. Press the
buttons to select Beep Tone, DAB Preset or FM Preset mode,
and then press the SELECT/ button to select.
6. Press the
buttons to select Beep Tone 1-2, DAB Preset 1-10 or FM Preset
1-10, and then press the SELECT/ button to confirm.

buttons repeatedly to select Alarm # OFF /
Beep Tones / DAB & FM Preset. The icon will show on the display, when alarm
1 or 2 is active.

Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE/MUTE button to temporarily switch off
the alarm for approx. 9 minutes. The display will show z to indicate that snooze is on.
To switch off the alarm completely, press the ALARM1

buttons or the
STANDBY button when the alarm sounds.
Sleep Function
This function allows you to program the unit to switch off by itself after a set period of
time.
1. To activate the sleep function, press the S button repeatedly. The time will change
in the below sequence on every press:
90 60 30 10 OFF
2. Stop pressing the button when the display shows your desired length of time. The
sleep function will be activated in 3 seconds or press the SELECT/ button. The
icon will show on the display.
3. When the sleep time reaches zero, the unit will turn off. To turn the sleep function
off while the sleep timer is still counting down, press the S button until Sleep
Timer Off and
disappear from the display.
4. Press the DISPLAY button repeatedly to display the sleep timer status.

DAB Operation
If the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from standby for
the first time, the unit will automatically enter DAB mode and perform the auto scan
function. The display will show Scan Services Quick Scan and will start to show the
frequencies and the station numbers being scanned.
Once the scan has finished, the unit will tune to the first alphanumerically found
station and the service name will be displayed on the upper segment of the display.
To explore the found stations press the
buttons. When you find a station that
you would like to listen to, press the SELECT/ button.
If no stations are found after auto scan, the display will show Service N/A.
DAB Auto Scan
The auto scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has
finished, the first alphanumerically found station will be automatically tuned.
Full auto scan will not replace the DAB stations in the memory. If you want to
remove all the previously scanned stations, you will need to reset the system.
1. To activate quick scan, press the SCAN button and the display will show Scan
Services Quick Scan. This may take 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on the
number of stations found.
2. To activate full scan, press and hold the SCAN button and the display will show
Scan Services Full Scan. This may take up to 3 minutes, depending on the
number of stations found.
3. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To explore and
select listening to the found stations, press the
buttons. When you find a
station that you would like to listen to, press the SELECT/
button.
Manual Tuning
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help
you when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto
tuning.
1. Press and hold the DISPLAY button for more 2 seconds to access Manual Tuning
mode. The display will show Manual Tune. Press the SELECT/
button to
confirm.
2. Press the
buttons to cycle through the DAB ensembles, which are
numbered from 5A to 13F.
3. After your desired channel number is selected, press the SELECT/
button to
select a station that you would like to listen to or to browse the stations available
in that ensemble. Press the buttons to cycle through these stations then
press the SELECT/
button to confirm.

Recalling a Stored Station
1. Once you have saved a station to one of the preset memories, you can recall it by
pressing the PRESET button.
2. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station, the Preset # Free“ will
be displayed.
3. Press the
buttons to select your desired preset station number and then
press the SELECT/ button to confirm. The screen will display Preset # Load.
4. The station will be stored and the screen will
then show Preset # Saved.
Secondary Services
You may see a symbol after the name of the station. This indicates that there are
secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra
services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add
extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary
station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, press the SELECT button when the
appears in
the display before the station name. When the secondary service ends, the radio will
automatically switch back to the primary station.
Storing Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This will enable you
to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must first be listening
to the station that you would like to save.
Press the PRESET button, Preset # Free
will show on the display.
2. Press the
buttons repeatedly to
select your desired preset station number
(P1–P10).
3. Press and hold the PRESET button, the
preset number will flash, and then press the
SELECT/
button to confirm

All of your stored DAB & FM presets will be lost once the
reset has taken place.
System Reset
When you move the unit to another part of the country, your pre-tuned and stored
DAB stations may no longer be available and you might need to reset the unit back to
its original factory settings. To perform a factory reset, please do the following:
1. Switch on the unit and select DAB mode.
2. Press and hold the DISPLAY button until the display shows Manual Tune. Press
the DISPLAY button then the display will show System Reset.
3. Press the SELECT/
button once. After resetting is complete, the display will first
show Scan Services Quick Scan and then perform auto scan function.

DAB Display Modes
Every time you press the DISPLAY button, the display will cycle through the following
display modes: Signal Strength, Time / Date, Programme Type, Audio Type /
Bitrate, DLS, Channel no. / Frequency, Sleep Timer Status, Alarm Information,
Ensemble Name.
The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate
the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the
longer the bar will be from left to right.
Time / Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock
and date information automatically so theres
no need to manually set this information. In the
unlikely event that the broadcaster does not
transmit any clock information, the display will
show the incorrect time and date.
Programme Type
This describes the Style or genre of music
that is being broadcast e.g. Rock or Classical.
Audio Type / Bitrate
The display will show the audio mode (Stereo
or Mono) and the digital audio bit rate being
received.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message
that the broadcaster may include with their
transmissions. The message usually includes
information, such as program details etc.
Channel no. / Frequency
The Channel no. and frequency of the
present station will be displayed, such as “11C
220.352MHz.
Ensemble Name
A ensemble is a collection of radio stations that
are bundled and transmitted on one frequency.
There are national and local ensemble. Local
ones contains stations that are specific to that
area.

Storing Stations

FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
To switch the unit from DAB to FM mode, press the DAB/FM button once. The display
will show FM and the frequency.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, press the SCAN button to start the auto scan. Once a
station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically. Press and hold the
SCAN button to search in the opposite direction.
Manual Tune
To tune to FM stations manually, press and hold the buttons. To fine tune,
press the
buttons repeatedly until your desired frequency is reached.
Audio Mode
Press the SELECT/ button to toggle between the Auto or Mono selection.
The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode when it
is set to Auto, but you can override this and switch between them manually.
This is helpful when receiving poor signal reception.

FM Display Modes
Every time you press the DISPLAY button, the display will cycle through the following
display modes: Audio Mode, Frequency, Radio Text, Time/Date, Programme Type,
Sleep Timer Status, Alarm 1 Status , Alarm 2 Status.
Audio Mode
When in FM mode, the display will show if the
station being received is in mono or stereo.
The receiver will automatically switch between
Stereo and Mono mode in Auto mode. You can
however override this function, so that you
can manually switch to Mono mode, which is
helpful if youre listening to a poor FM signal.
Audio Mode
To switch between Auto and Mono,
press the SELECT/ button once, you
will see on the display Auto” or “Mono.
To toggle between each mode just press
the SELECT/ button again
Program Service Name(PS)
When a RDS station is received the name of
that station (Program Service Name (PS)) will be
displayed.
Radio Text
As with FM, the broadcaster can include a
scrolling text that displays information about
the current program. If Radio text information is
not available, then the display will show <Radio
Text N/A>.
Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock
and date information automatically so theres
no need to manually set this information.
This informations is set within 2 minutes after
the frequency display changes to the station
name. In the unlikely event that the broadcaster
does not transmit any clock information, an
incorrect time and date will be displayed.
Programme Type
This describes the Style or genre of music
that is being broadcast e.g. Rock or Classical.

Hints and Tips
If a problem does occur, it may often be due to something very minor. The following
table contains various tips.
Problem Solution
No Sound Adjust the volume control, it may not be turned up.
The mute function may be active, press the SNOOZE/
MUTE button to disable the function.
Static Sound Signal reception is too low. Adjust the aerial or move the
unit to a stronger signal location.
Sound is distorted Volume is too high. Adjust the volume control.
Desired station not
found
Weak signal. Use the Manual Tune function.
The display shows
“Signal N/A
No DAB coverage in your area or poor reception. Adjust
the position of the aerial. Fully extend the DAB/FM aerial.
The display is blank This may occur if the broadcaster changes the label of a
service or removes a label while tuned. The unit will try
to retune or perform a scan.
Poor FM reception Make sure the DAB/FM aerial wire is fully extended.
Electrical interference in your home can cause poor
reception. Move the unit away from them (especially
those with motors and transformers).
Maintenance
Cleaning the Unit
Ensure to unplug the unit from the mains socket before cleaning.
• To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
• Do not use any cleaning fluids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.
• Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.
If any anomalies are encountered, unplug the unit from
the mains socket and reconnect again.

label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after
unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in
any doubt about it working normally, or if it is
damaged in any way - switch o, withdraw the
mains plug and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable surface
and should not be subjected to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable
surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the unit
and should be easily accessible.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either
hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat
sources such as radiators or gas/electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other
sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked ame
on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or
product damage, do not expose this unit to rain,
moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects lled
with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on
the unit.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause
serious damage. Switch it o at the mains
immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and
consult your dealer.
Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or re hazard
due to overheating, ensure that curtains and
other materials do not obstruct the ventilation
vents.
• Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase,
built-in cabinet or in another conned space.
Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains
supply before connecting/ disconnecting other
devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a
lightning storm.
Mains Adapter Cable
• Make sure the unit is not resting on top of the
mains adapter cable, as the weight of the unit
may damage the cable and create a safety
hazard.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances
which may cause electromagnetic interference.
If you do, it may adversely aect the operating
performance of the unit, and cause a distorted
picture or sound.
Earphones
• Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods
of time may permanently damage your hearing.
• Before putting on earphones, turn the
volume down then put the earphones on and
slowly increase the volume until you reach a
comfortable listening level.
Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the unit and the remote
control.
• Never let anyone especially children push
anything into the holes, slots or any other
openings in the case - this could result in a fatal
electric shock.
