Step-by-Step Instructions
READ INSTRUCTIONS
COMPLETELY BEFORE STARTING
1. It is recommended to install the
plenum box prior to drywall.
2. When framing an opening for a
plenum box, note that the diffuser
face overhangs plenum box by
3/8". For example, if in a finished
state the diffuser face is required to
be mounted 12" above the floor, the
bottom of the plenum box needs to
be installed 12 3/8" above the floor.
3. Install plenum box (DFW) in the
wall opening. Adjust plenum depth
such that the plenum protrudes a
minimum of 1/8" to a maximum
of 1/4" past the face of the wall
stud to allow the drywall to butt
up against the plenum (Figure 1).
Secure plenum in place with screws
(supplied by others.)

4. After the drywall has been installed
and finished as required around the
plenum, apply a bead of caulking
along plenum wall and drywall edge
to minimize air leakage.
5. Insert the diffuser face into the
plenum. Use the supplied screws
to mount the diffuser face to
the plenum (Figure 3). For units
supplied with a secondary baffle
see Figure 4 to determine proper
baffle orientation.
6. NOTE: Standard screws issued
with DFW displacement unit are
3/4" self-drilling. These will work
with 1/2" thick drywall. If drywall is
thicker than 1/2", a different length
screw must be requested at time of
ordering.
7. Care should be taken not to over
tighten the screws (Item 3).
