1) DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) BATTERY CABLE.
2) Remove air intake assembly.
a) Unscrew the wing nut(s) and remove the main air cleaner assembly.
b) Use a 10mm socket and wrench to remove the strap that secures the silencer on the right fender housing.
c) Remove and discard the 1” crankcase breather ring. Leave the breather hose in the rocker cover.
3) Throttle body air cleaner stud. If your vehicle is an 87-92 with a single air cleaner stud, skip this step.
a) 93 to 95 dual stud air cleaner must convert to the single stud.
b) Remove the two air cleaner hold down studs. Take care not to loosen the throttle body studs they attach to.
c) Install the “S” shaped threaded stud, on to the T.B.I. unit. The factory threaded hole is located
just in front of the injectors and between the throttle bores. Test fit the “hat” for proper stud length. At least
1/2” should protrude through hole in the “hat” . Adjust as needed.
4) Install “AIRAID” brace on cylinder head.
a) Locate dipstick tube mounting bracket on passenger side cylinder head. Using a 3/8”socket remove the screw
and save.
b) Carefully pull the dip stick away from the cylinder head and position the “AIRAID” mounting bracket between
the cylinder head and dipstick mounting bracket. Fasten with original screw. Finger tighten only, adjustments
needed later.
5) Assemble “AIRAID”.
a) Check for, and remove any foreign objects in the intake path.
b) Slide the 3.5” x 3.5” stainless clamp and rubber insert onto the “HAT” .
c) Insert the the aluminum barrel into the stainless coupler. Tighten lightly.
d) Slide the air filter on the 3.5” aluminum barrel. Tighten lightly.
6) Install “AIRAID”
a) Position over T.B.I. and guide over hold down stud to rest on T.B.I.
b) Install new billet hold down nut.
c) Connect crankcase breather vent tube to the new “HAT” utilizing the 90* elbow and ratchet clamps provided.
c) Align the tab on the aluminum barrel to the bracket on the cylinder head. Fasten with the hardware provided.
d) Align and position “AIRAID” on the engine. When satisfied , fully tighten all connections.
7) Finishing up.
a) Check over all work.
b) Reconnect battery cable.
