Preparation

before star ting the motor .
Do not operate the sno wthro w er without w earing
adequate winter g ar ments . W ear footw ear that will
impro v e y our footing on slipper y surfaces .

Nev er attempt to mak e any adjustments while the motor

Let the motor and the sno wthro w er adjust to the
outdoor temperature before star ting to clear sno w .
Operating any po w ered mac hine can result in foreign
objects being thro wn into the eyes . Alw a ys w ear safety
glasses or eye shields while operating, adjusting, or
re pairing the sno wthro w er .
Alw a ys ensure that the v entilation openings are k e pt
clear of debris .
Before use , c hec k the supply and extension cord for
signs of damag e or aging .
Operation
Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating par ts .
K ee p clear of the disc harg e opening at all times .
Disconnect the mac hine from the po w er source before
c hec king, cleaning, or w orking on the mac hine and
when it is not in use .
If the cord becomes damag ed during use , disconnect
the cord from the po w er supply immediately . Do not
touc h the cord before disconnecting the po w er supply .
Do not use the mac hine if the cord is damag ed or w or n.
K ee p extension cords a w a y from the rotor blades .
T he po w er supply used with the appliance should be a
residential cur rent device (R CD) with a tripping cur rent
of not more than 30 mA.
Ex ercise extreme caution when crossing g ra v el dri v es ,
w alks , or roads . Sta y aler t for hidden hazards or traffic .
Do not attempt to clear sno w from a cr ushed-roc k or
g ra v el surface . T his product is intended for use only on
pa v ed surfaces .
After striking a foreign object, stop the motor ,
thoroughly inspect the sno wthro w er for any
damag e , and re pair the damag e before operating the
sno wthro w er .
If the unit should star t to vibrate abnor mally , stop the
motor and c hec k immediately for the cause . Vibration
is g enerally a w ar ning of trouble .
Stop the motor whenev er y ou lea v e the operating
position, before unclog ging the disc harg e c hute , and
when making any re pairs , adjustments , or inspections .
W hen cleaning, re pairing, or inspecting, mak e cer tain
that the rotor blades and all mo ving par ts ha v e stopped.
Do not clear sno w across the face of slopes . Ex ercise
extreme caution when c hanging direction on slopes . Do
not attempt to clear stee p slopes .
Nev er operate the sno wthro w er without proper guards ,
plates , or other safety protecti v e devices in place .
Nev er operate the sno wthro w er near glass enclosures ,
automobiles , windo w w ells , and drop-offs without
properly adjusting the sno w disc harg e angle . K ee p
c hildren and pets a w a y .
Do not o v erload the mac hine capacity b y attempting to
clear sno w at too fast a rate .
Look behind and use care when bac king up with the
sno wthro w er .
Nev er direct the disc harg e at b ystanders or allo w any one
in front of the unit.
Nev er operate the sno wthro w er without g ood visibility
or light. Alw a ys be sure of y our footing, and k ee p a fir m

Maintenance and Storage
Chec k all fasteners at frequent inter v als for proper
tightness to be sure that the equipment is in safe

Before adjusting, cleaning, re pairing, and inspecting
the sno wthro w er , and before unclog ging the disc harg e
c hute , stop the motor and w ait f or all mo ving par ts
to stop .
Use a stic k, not y our hands , to remo v e obstr uctions
from the disc harg e c hute .
Bef or e lea ving the operating position, stop the motor ,
and w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop .
Do not w ear loose-fitting clothing that could g et caught
in mo ving par ts .

If a shield, safety device , or decal is damag ed, illegible ,
or lost, re pair or re place it before beginning operation.
Also , tighten any loose fasteners .

Operation
Preparing the Appliance
F or safe and efficient use of y our P o w er Sho v el Plus , use
only an extension cord recommended for outdoor use .
Note: Do not use an extension cord o v er 150 feet (46 m)
long .
Contact with w ater while operating the pr oduct
could cause electric shock, causing injur y or death.
Don’ t handle the plug or the appliance with w et
hands or while standing in w ater .
Use onl y an extension cord r ecommended f or
outdoor cold w eather use.
Important: Check the po w er cord fr equentl y during
use f or holes in the insulation. Do not use a dama ged
cord. Do not r un the cord thr ough standing w ater or
w et g rass.
1. Mak e a loop in the extension cord.
2. Inser t the loop through the hole in the bac k of the
upper handle , securing the loop around the hook.
Note: T his helps to prev ent y ou from accidently
disconnecting the extension cord from the appliance
during operation.
3. Connect the extension cord to the appliance electrical
cord.
4. Plug the extension cord into a w all outlet.
5. K ee p the area to be cleared free of stones , to ys , or other
foreign objects whic h the rotor blades ma y pic k up and
thro w . Suc h items could be co v ered b y sno wfall and
remain unnoticed.
Starting and Stopping
T o star t the P o w er Sho v el Plus , push the button on the side
of the handle g rip and squeeze the trig g er . T o stop the
product, release the trig g er .

Converting from
Snowthrowing to Sweeping
Important: Disconnect the po w er fr om the P o w er
Sho v el Plus bef or e perf or ming this pr ocedur e.
1. Use a 9/16-inc h wrenc h to remo v e the bolt on the side
of the housing .
2. R emo v e the sno wthro w er rotor from the housing .
3. Install the broom in the housing .
4. Secure the broom with the bolt that y ou previously
remo v ed.
5. Tighten the bolt on the side of the housing .
6. Install the deflector .
Note: T he deflector snaps into place .
7. Loosen the lo w er knob on the shaft.
8. R otate the handle g rip to the opposite side of the shaft.

9. Tighten the knob .
10. Ensure that the P o w er Sho v el Plus is in the broom
mode as sho wn.
Note: Y ou ma y need to adjust the length of the shaft
to comfor tably operate in broom mode . R efer to
Adjusting the P o w er Sho v el Plus Height.
Converting from Sweeping to
Snowthrowing
Important: Disconnect the po w er fr om the P o w er
Sho v el Plus bef or e perf or ming this pr ocedur e.
1. R emo v e the deflector .
2. Use a 9/16-inc h wrenc h to remo v e the bolt on the side
of the housing .
3. R emo v e the broom from the housing .
4. Install the rotor in the housing b y inser ting the end of
the rotor onto the fitted end in the housing and rotating
the rotor until it snaps into position.
Note: T he housing will flex when y ou install the
sno wthro w er rotor .
5. Tighten the bolt on the side of the housing .
6. Loosen the lo w er knob on the shaft.
7. R otate the handle g rip to the opposite side of the shaft.

8. Tighten the knob .
9. Ensure that the P o w er Sho v el Plus is in the sno wthro w er
mode as sho wn.
Note: Y ou ma y need to adjust the length of the shaft
to comfor tably operate in sno wthro w er mode . R efer to
Adjusting the P o w er Sho v el Plus Height.
Operating Tips
Snow Mode
Star t the P o w er Sho v el Plus and tilt it forw ard until the
scraper blade contacts the g round. Push the P o w er
Sho v el Plus forw ard at a comfor table rate of speed, yet
slo w enough to clear the path completely . T he width
and de pth of the sno w deter mines y our forw ard speed.
Direct the sno w to the right or to the left b y holding the
P o w er Sho v el Plus at a slight angle .
F or the most efficient sno w remo v al, thro w the sno w
do wnwind, and slightly o v erlap eac h sw ath.
If y ou need to clear sno w from cr ushed roc k or g ra v el,
push do wn on the handle to raise the scraper clear of
loose material that the rotor blades could thro w .
T he P o w er Sho v el Plus can remo v e sno w up to 6
in. (15 cm) dee p in one pass . W hen clearing dee per
drifts , hold the P o w er Sho v el Plus b y the upper and
lo w er handles and use a swinging or sw ee ping motion.
R emo v e a maxim um of 6 inc hes (15 cm) with eac h pass
and re peat as many times as required.
K ee p the cord clear of obstr uctions , shar p objects , and
rotor . Do not pull shar ply on the cord or abuse it in any
manner . F requently inspect the cord for damag e . If it is
damag ed, re place the cord.
Disconnect the extension cord after using the P o w er
Sho v el Plus . Hang the extension cord with the P o w er
Sho v el Plus so it will not be misplaced or damag ed.
Broom Mode
Star t the P o w er Sho v el Plus and push it forw ard at a
comfor table rate of speed, yet slo w enough to clear the
path completely . T he width and de pth of the debris
deter mines y our forw ard speed. Tilt it forw ard to
increase the contact betw een the br ush and the surface .
Direct the debris to the right or to the left b y holding
the P o w er Sho v el Plus at a slight angle .
F or the most efficient debris remo v al, sw ee p it
do wnwind, and slightly o v erlap eac h sw ath.
K ee p the cord clear of obstr uctions , shar p objects , and
rotor . Do not pull shar ply on the cord or abuse it in any
manner . F requently inspect the cord for damag e . If it is
damag ed, re place the cord.
Use the broom only on hard, flat surfaces .
Do not use the broom near or in standing w ater .
Disconnect the extension cord after using the P o w er
Sho v el Plus . Hang the extension cord with the P o w er
Sho v el Plus so it will not be misplaced or damag ed.
