C-400-N Catalyzer Tank
Model: 207-11029
The Binks C-400-N Catalyzer Tank is a uniquely
designed metering device for use with Methyl
Ethyl Ketone Peroxide (MEKP). It is easily adapt-
able to an external mix system which requires air
atomization for the mixing of resin and catalyst.
AD-4 Catalyzer Tank
Model: 207-11603
The Binks AD-4 Catalyzer Tank is also a metering
device for use with MEKP catalysts and resins. It
introduces catalyst into the atomizing air stream as
air passes through the upper block; the calibration
needle serves to create a drop in pressure, thus put-
ting more air pressure in the Catalyzer tank than
what leaves the Catalyzer. This Catalyzer is adapt-
able to those external mix systems which require
air atomization for the mixing of resin and catalyst.

Do not handle or use until safety precautions
concerning Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxides in
the Manufacturer’s literature have been read
and understood.
Contact with foreign materials, especially
strong mineral acids, metals (including certain
equipment and containers) or metal salts, or
exposure to heat above 135° F (57° C) may
lead to violent decomposition, releasing
flammable vapors which may self-ignite.
Do not get into eyes or on skin or clothing.
Wear eye and skin protection when handling.
Avoid breathing mist. Use with adequate
ventilation. Store only it in the original
closed container. Wash hands thoroughly
after handling. Protect from direct sunlight,
heat, sparks and other sources of ignition.
Prevent contamination with foreign materials.
Do not add to hot materials.
To maintain the chemical activity store below
100° F (38° C).
In case of fire, use water spray, foam or dry
chemical.
In case of spill or leak, absorb or blend with
inert, non-combustible material. Put in suitable
container. Dispose of immediately in
accordance with federal, state and local
regulations.
Do not reuse container as some of the original
hazardous contents may still be present.
Follow the above precautions in handling.
HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON
SOLVENTS CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION
WHEN IN CONTACT WITH ALUMINUM
COMPONENTS OF A PRESSURIZED OR
CLOSED FLUID SYSTEM (PUMPS, HEAT-
ERS, FILTERS, etc.)
The same possibility of an explosion is possible
with the galvanized coatings in pressure tanks.
The possibility of a non-flammable explosion
increases greatly at high operating temperatures.
The explosion could be of sufficient strength to
cause bodily injury, death, and substantial
property damage.
Cleaning agents, coatings, or adhesives may
contain HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON
SOLVENTS. CHECK WITH YOUR SOLVENT
AND PAINT SUPPLIER.
If you are now using a Halogenated Hydrocarbon
Solvent in a pressurized fluid system with
aluminum components or galvanized wetted
parts, the following steps should be taken
immediately:
1. Remove all pressure; drain and disconnect
the entire system.
2. Inspect and replace all corroded parts.
3. Contact your solvent supplier for a
NON-HALOGENATED SOLVENT to
flush and clean the system of all residues.
HALOGENATED Solvents are defined as any
hydrocarbon solvent containing any of the
following elements:
CHLORINE “CHLORO” (Cl)
BROMINE “BROMO” (Br)
FLUORINE “FLUORO” (F)
IODINE “IODO” (I)
Of those listed, the Chlorinated Solvents will
most likely be the type used as a cleaning agent
or solvent in an adhesive or coating. The most
common are:
METHYLENE CHLORIDE
1,1,1, TRICHLORETHANE
PERCHLORETHYLENE
Although stabilizers have been added to some
of the solvents to reduce their corrosive effect,
we are aware of none that will prevent these
solvents from reacting under all conditions
with aluminum components or galvanized
coatings.
Previous use of the solvents under pressurized
conditions, without incident, does not necessarily
indicate that it can be considered safe.
Models 207-11029 & 207-11603 CATALYZERS
are constructed with components of aluminum alloy
and SHOULD NOT be used with any
Halogenated Hydrocarbon solvents.

MODELS 207-11603 & 207-11029 CATALYST TANK ASSEMBLIES
CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Although the tank has been calibrated at the factory, it is
wise to adjust the tank to the specific MEKP catalyst and
resin being used in your application.
Model 207-11029:
Before using for production, spray a test sample for gel
cure time. To increase catalyst flow, turn the lower knob
(24) counter clock-wise. To decrease the catalyst flow,
turn the lower knob clockwise.
Model 207-11603:
To calibrate, begin by turning the lower knob (54) count-
er clock-wise until it stops and is fully open. Then while
only spraying catalyst, insert a small screwdriver into the
slot on the metering valve (48). Turn the valve in either
direction until the black ball (26) is stabilized at the 100
mark on the metering tube (30). Once stabilized, remove
the screwdriver and while still spraying the catalyst, you
may begin closing the lower knob to fine tune the flow
rate to the desired rate.
DISASSEMBLY:
Close the main air supply valve. Relieve all air and cata-
lyst pressures from the gun and hoses. To remove pres-
sure from the 207-11029 tank, turn the upper bleed valve
screw (24) counter clock-wise one turn. Disconnect all
the hoses and drain the Catalyzer of all MEKP through
the bottom drain (43). Pour the contents into a clean plas-
tic container.
1. Remove the five nuts (5) and washers (6) to lift off the
tank top (4). Now remove the two mounting studs (14),
from inside the tank sleeve (13). This will allow the
removal of the flow meter assembly.
2. To disassemble the flow meter, remove the two jam
nuts (42) from the lower block (32, 52). This will
release the rod spacers (29) from the lower and upper
block assemblies.
3. Next, to remove the metering valve from the lower
block:
Model 207-11029; simply turn the knob (41) counter
clock wise until free from the needle fitting (37). You
may have to remove the needle fitting and replace the
o-ring (36) behind it.
Model 207-11603; simply turn the knob (54) counter
clock wise until free from the valve collar (50). You may
have to remove the valve collar and replace the o-ring
(49) behind it.
4. To remove the bleed valve knob (24) on the lower
block, turn it counter clock-wise until free. Then
remove the two screws (35) and the valve collar (34)
from the lower block. Remove the o-ring (33) from the
lower block.
5. To replace the top liner (8), you must remove the filler
neck nut (3). This will allow the removal of the filler
neck (9).
6. To clean the filler screen (11) pull out the retaining
ring (10) from inside the filler neck and the screen
should be free.
Upon disassembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned
with WATER.
After reassembly the Catalyzer must be pressure checked.
WARNING
DO NOT USE ACETONE FOR CLEANING, AS THE COMBINATION
WITH MEKP MAY FORM SHOCK SENSITIVE ACETONE PEROXIDES
WHICH ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
!
NOTE
Be sure to note the position of the black ball (26)
in the metering tube (30) when the correct flow
and gel cure time is obtained.
NOTE
Be sure to note the position of the black ball (26)
in the metering tube (30) when the correct flow
and gel cure time is obtained.
NOTE
ALL O-RINGS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER
DISASSEMBLY. (Repair kit p/n: 207-10176)
CAUTION
DO NOT USE METAL OR CONTAMINATED CONTAINERS.
!
CAUTION
BE SURE TO TAKE CARE IN HANDLING OF THE METERING
TUBES AS THEY ARE FRAGILE. BE SURE NOT TO LOSE THE
BALLS FROM THE TUBES WHEN HANDLING.
!
CAUTION
BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE O-RINGS UPON
REASSEMBLY.
!
Model 207-11029; this is accomplished by capping off
the outlet check valve (21), and applying 60 PSI (4.14
bar) to the inlet check valve (22).
Model 207-11603; cap off the outlet check valve (45,46)
on the right side of the upper block (47), and apply the 60
psi (4.14 bar) to the inlet check valve on the left side.
Then submerge the entire tank under water, and check for
leaks. If any leaks appear, they must be corrected before
the unit is returned to service.
REFILLING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Relieve all air pressure from the catalyst system by
shutting off the main air supply, and relieve the pres-
sure at the tank by loosening the bleed valve knob (24)
on the lower block.
2. Remove the relief valve assembly (1).
3. Pour only clean MEKP into the Catalyzer tank. Use a
clean plastic funnel. DO NOT OVERFILL. Fill only to
the black line on the sight gauge tube (27).
4. After filling, replace the relief valve assembly. Be sure
the valve assembly is screwed on all the way, hand
tight only. DO NOT USE A WRENCH OR ANOTHER
TOOL, AS DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
5. Close the bleed valve knob.
6. Slowly turn on the main air supply.
7. Wipe up any excess spills immediately. Dispose of all
MEKP soaked rags in a safe manner.
NOTE
THE RELIEF VALVE ASSEMBLY MUST BE KEPT FREE OF
CONTAMINATES. IT IS SET AT THE FACTORY TO RELIEVE
BETWEEN 95-105 PSI (6.55-7.24 bar).
CAUTION
IF NOT TREATED PROPERLY, MEKP MAY ATTACK THE RAGS
AND CAUSE SPONTANEOUS IGNITION.
