How to Use:
NOTE: Be sure probe tip is clean before using.
1. Disinfect the probe with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol before
using.
2. Press and release the multifunction button. You will hear a
short beep then all segments will display (Figure 1) for 1
second with red backlight for 0.5 seconds and then green backlight for 0.5 seconds.
This is a function check indicating the unit is working properly.
3. Display will show last reading memory with green backlight for 3 seconds. When the
scrolling dash “-” displays, you can start measurement.
4. When measurement is complete you will hear a long beep (1 second) and see a green
backlight when the temperature is between 89.6°F (34°C) ~ 99.5°F (37.5°C). You will hear
four beeps and see a red backlight when the temperature is between 99.5°F (37.5°C) ~
109.1°F (42.8°C). If the temperature is higher than 109.2°F (42.9°C), you’ll hear two beeps,
see the “H” icon and a red backlight, and hear four additional beeps
5. The reading will automatically be stored in memory, but we recommend you manually
record the temperature and time for reference.
6. The unit will automatically turn off in about 5 minutes. To prolong battery life, press the
multifunction button to turn off the device manually.
Ensuring Accurate Temperature Measurement
We recommend using probe covers (Figure 2) with all digital stick thermometers.
Oral use: (for children 4 years and older)
Place the probe well under the patient's tongue (Figure 3).
Keep mouth closed while thermometer is reading. The peak
temperature should be reached in approximately 8 seconds.
Opening the mouth or improper placement of the probe tip
could result in a longer reading time.
Rectal Use: Lubricate the probe cover with a
water-soluable jelly for easier insertion; do not use
petroleum jelly, as it may cause an inaccurate reading.
Gently insert the tip of the probe no more than 1/2 inch
into the rectum. STOP if you meet any resistance. The
sensing unit is on the very tip of the probe and there is
no need to insert the probe deep into the rectum.
Dispose of the used probe cover and clean the
thermometer as recommended.
