SAVE THIS MANUAL
You will need this manual for the safety warnings and precautions, assembly,
operating, inspection, maintenance and cleaning procedures, parts list and as-
sembly diagram. Keep your invoice with this manual. Write the invoice number
on the inside of the front cover. Keep this manual and invoice in a safe and dry
place for future reference.
GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN AND DRY. Cluttered, damp, or wet work areas
invite injuries.
2. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM WORK AREA. Do not allow children to handle
this product.
3. STORE IDLE EQUIPMENT. When not in use, tools and equipment should be
stored in a dry location to inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and equipment, and
keep out of reach of children.
4. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR
DRUGS. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgement or
reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not attempt to
use this product.

5. USE EYE PROTECTION. Wear ANSI approved safety impact eye goggles when
assembling and using this product. ANSI approved safety impact eye goggles
are available from Harbor Freight Tools.
6. DRESS SAFELY. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, as they can become
caught in moving parts. Wear a protective hair covering to prevent long hair from
becoming caught in moving parts. If wearing a long-sleeve shirt, roll sleeves up
above elbows.
7. DO NOT OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times to prevent
tripping, falling, back injury, etc.
8. INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS MUST FOLLOW OSHA REQUIREMENTS.
9. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing at all times. Use common sense. Do
not use this product when you are tired or distracted from the job at hand.
10. CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS. Before using this product, carefully check that
it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for damaged
parts and any other conditions that may affect the operation of this product.
Replace or repair damaged or worn parts immediately.
11. REPLACEMENT PARTS AND ACCESSORIES: When servicing, use only identi-
cal replacement parts. Only use accessories intended for use with this product.
Approved accessories are available from Harbor Freight Tools.
12. MAINTAIN THIS PRODUCT WITH CARE. Keep this product clean and dry for
better and safer performance.
13. MAINTENANCE: For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualified technician.
14. USE THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB. Do not attempt to force a small tool or
attachment to do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applica-
tions for which this tool was designed. It will do the job better and more safely at
the rate for which it was intended. Do not modify this tool, and do not use this
tool for a purpose for which it was not intended.
15. WARNING: The warnings, precautions, and instructions discussed in this
manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. The
operator must understand that common sense and caution are factors, which
cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

SPECIFIC PRODUCT WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. WARNING! LEAD-ACID BATTERIES (part #13) GENERATE HYDROGEN
GAS DURING NORMAL OPERATION, AND EVEN MORE GAS IS GENER-
ATED WHEN THE BATTERY IS CHARGING. HYDROGEN GAS IS:
EXPLO-
SIVE, POISONOUS TO BREATHE, AND HIGHLY FLAMMABLE.
2. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION. When working on or around lead-acid
batteries, always wear ANSI approved, safety impact eye goggles.
3. AVOID CONTACT WITH BATTERY ACID. If splashed, immediately wash af-
fected area with clean water. Continue washing area until medical help is avail-
able.
4. USE THIS TOOL IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. Do not attempt to jump start
a vehicle around flammable gases or liquids. If necessary, wear an ANSI ap-
proved breathing respirator to avoid hydrogen gas fumes.
5. MAKE SURE TO READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AS OUTLINED IN THE MANUFACTURER’S
MANUAL FOR THE VEHICLE/BOAT ON WHICH THE POWER STATION WILL
BE USED.
6. NEVER ATTEMPT TO USE THE 24 VOLT DC SETTING ON THE POWER
STATION TO START A VEHICLE/BOAT WITH A 12 VOLT DC SYSTEM.
7. NEVER ALLOW THE RED AND BLACK CLAMPS ON THE COPPER
BOOSTER CABLES (parts #1, #2) TO TOUCH EACH OTHER NOR BOTH TO
TOUCH THE SAME METAL OBJECT.
8. MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE/BOAT IGNITION BEFORE MAK-
ING CABLE CONNECTIONS.
9. ALWAYS CONNECT THE RED CLAMP ON THE COPPER BOOSTER CABLE
(part #1) TO THE POSITIVE (+) TERMINAL ON THE VEHICLE/BOAT
BATTERY.
10. ALWAYS CONNECT THE BLACK CLAMP ON THE COPPER BOOSTER
CABLE (part #2) TO THE NEGATIVE (--) TERMINAL ON THE VEHICLE/ BOAT
BATTERY.
11. WHEN CONNECTING THE CLAMPS ON THE COPPER BOOSTER CABLES
(parts #1, #2) THE VEHICLE/BOAT BATTERY, CONNECT THE RED CLAMP
FIRST, THEN CONNECT THE BLACK CLAMP. WHEN DISCONNECTING THE
CLAMPS FROM THE VEHICLE/BOAT BATTERY, DISCONNECT THE BLACK

21. WARNING! People with pacemakers should consult their physician(s) before
using this product. Operation of electrical equipment in close proximity to a heart
pacemaker could cause interference or failure of the pacemaker.
UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure all the parts shown on the Parts Lists (page 12)
are included. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the
number shown on the cover of this manual as soon as possible.

CLAMP FIRST, THEN DISCONNECT THE RED CLAMP.
12. AVOID ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Use extreme caution when clamping around
uninsulated conductors or bus bars. Prevent body contact with grounded sur-
faces such as pipes, radiators, ranges when testing voltages.
13. THE POWER STATION IS FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY. Do not use this unit
in the place of a vehicle/boat battery. Use the Power Station only to jump start a
vehicle/boat.
14. THE CIGARETTER LIGHTER SOCKET (part #11) IS FOR USE WITH 12 VOLT
DC NEGATIVE GROUND SYSTEM ONLY.
15. AVOID WORKING ALONE. If an accident occurs, an assistant can bring help.
16. AVOID DANGEROUS TRAFFIC. To avoid dangerous oncoming traffic, use the
Power Station as far away from the roadside as possible.
17. MAINTAIN A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT. Keep the work area well lit.
Make sure there is adequate surrounding work space. Always keep the work
area free of obstructions, grease, oil, trash, and other debris.
18. WHEN JUMP STARTING, DO NOT USE THE POWER STATION FOR MORE
THAN 6 SECONDS WITHOUT A 3 MINUTE REST PERIOD BETWEEN SES-
SIONS.
19. ALWAYS RECHARGE THE POWER STATION IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE.
THE POWER STATION SHOULD BE RECHARGED EVERY 3 MONTHS
WHETHER USED OR NOT.
20. PROTECT THE POWER STATION FROM POSSIBLE DAMAGE DUE TO DI-
RECT SUNLIGHT, DIRECT HEAT, AND/OR MOISTURE.

NOTE: For additional references to the parts listed in the following pages, refer to the
Assembly Diagram (page 12).
Recharging The Power Station’s Battery:
1. For maximum Battery (part #13) life, the Power Station should be fully charged
at all times.
2. The time required to fully recharge the Power Station after jump starting an
engine depends on how many jump starts are performed between recharging
sessions. The following Chart shows the approximate recharging times required.

3. Before, during, and after recharging the Batteries (part #13) you may determine
the level at which the Batteries are charged by pressing the red Battery Test
Button(part 5). The Volt Meter (part 4) will indicate the Batteries’ charge status.

4. There are two ways to charge the Batteries (part #13): (1) using the 120 Volt AC
Charger (part #10) and, (2) using the 12 Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Recharger
(part #9).

CAUTION! Always turn the Voltage Select Switch (part #3) to its 12 Volt DC
setting when recharging the Batteries (part #13).
6. To charge the Batteries (part #13) using the more effective 120 Volt AC Charger
(part #10), plug the small jack of the 120 Volt AC Charger into the Socket located
on thefront of the Power Station. Then plug the 120 Volt AC Charger into a
grounded, 120 Volt, electrical outlet. (See Figure C.)
7. The red LED (part #7) will illuminate to indicate charging is in process.
(See Figure C.)
8. Press the red Battery Test Button (part 5). The Volt Meter (part #4) will indicate
the Batteries’ (part #13) charge status. NOTE: A built-in safety device prevents
overcharging. (See Figure C.)
9. Continue to charge until the red LED (part #7) goes out, or the Volt Meter
(part #4) registers 14V or more when the Battery Test Button (part #5) is pressed.

NOTE: Do not stop charging before the Volt Meter (part #4) reads 14V or
more. At this point, once the 120 Volt AC Charger (part #10) is disconnected, the
voltage will slowly settle back to read 100%. This is normal, and indicates the
Batteries are at full capacity.
11. NOTE: When the LED (part #7) goes out, charging will automatically stop.
This indicates the Batteries (part #13) are charged at maximum capacity,
and the voltage will then slowly drop back to read 100% as metioned
above.

12. CAUTION! Always turn the Voltage Select Switch (part #3) to its 12 Volt DC
setting when recharging the Batteries (part #13).
13. To charge the Batteries (part #13) using the 12 Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Re-
charger (part #9), insert the 12 DC Cigarette Lighter Plug into the cigarette
lighter receptacle on your vehicle/boat. Then, insert the small jack at the other
end ofthe 12 Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Recharger into the Socket located on the
front of the Power Station. (See Figure D.)
14. The red LED (part #7) will illuminate to indicate charging is in process.

15. Press the red Battery Test Button (part 5). The Volt Meter (part #4) will indicate
the Batteries’ charge status. NOTE: A built-in safety device prevents overcharg-
ing. (See Figure C.)
16. Continue to charge until the red LED (part #7) goes out, or the Volt Meter
(part #4) registers 14V or more when the Battery Test Button (part #5) is pressed.

NOTE: This recharging method will not recharge the system to the same
14V or above DC voltage level as will plugging the Power Station into the
120 Volt AC Charger (part #10). It is recommended to use the 12 Volt DC
Cigarette Lighter Recharger (part #9) only when it is necessary. Continued
use of the 12 Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Recharger may shorten the system’s
life.

18. The Power Station may also be used as a power source for various 12 Volt DC
appliances.

19. To use the Power Station as a power source for an appliance, turn the Voltage
Select Switch (part #3) to its “OFF” position. (See Figure E.)
20. Lift the Cover of the 12 Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Receptacle (part #11) located
on the side of the Power Station. (See Figure E.)
21. Insert the Appliance’s 12 Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Plug (not included) into the
Power Station’s 12 Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Receptacle (part #11).

To Jump Start A Vehicle/Boat:
1. CAUTION! Make sure to determine whether the electric system on the
vehicle/boat is 12 Volt DC or 24 Volt DC.
2. Turn off the engine of the vehicle/boat that is to be jump started.
3. Attach the RED/POSITIVE (+) Clamp of the Copper Booster Cable (part #1) to
the POSITIVE (+) terminal on the vehicle/boat Battery. (See Figure B.)
4. Connect the BLACK/NEGATIVE (-) Clamp of the Copper Booster Cable (part #2)
to the BLACK/NEGATIVE (-) terminal on the vehicle/boat Battery.
(See Figure B.)
5. Turn the Voltage Select Switch (part #3) to “12V” or “24V”, depending on the

electric system of the vehicle/boat. (See Figure B.)
6. Turn the vehicle/boat ignition to “ON”, and wait for one to two minutes.
7. Turn the vehicle/boat ignition to “START” for no more than 5 to 6 seconds.
8. NOTE: If the vehicle/boat engine does not start, turn the vehicle/boat ignition to
“OFF” and wait at least 3 minutes before repeating Steps #6 and #7.
9. Once the vehicle/boat engine is running, disconnect the BLACK/NEGATIVE (-)
Clamp of the Copper Booster Cable (part #2) from the vehicle/boat Battery and
return the Clamp to its stored position on the Power Station. (See Figure B.)
10. Disconnect the RED/POSITIVE (+) Clamp of the Copper Booster Cable (part #1)
from the vehicle/boat Battery and return the Clamp to its stored position on the
Power Station. (See Figure B.)
11. As soon as possible, recharge the Power Station.
To Turn On The Emergency Light:
1. To turn on the Emergency Light (part #8), simply depress the Emergency Light
Switch (part #6) to its “ON” position. Make sure the Emergency Light Switch is in
its “OFF” position when the Power Station is being stored. (See Figure B.)
INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING
1. CAUTION: Before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning, always
place the Voltage Select Switch (part #3) in its “OFF” position, place the
Emergency Light Switch in its “OFF” position, and make sure the Clamps of the
Copper Booster Cables (parts #1, #2) are in their stored positions,
2. BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the general condition of the Power Station. Check
for loose screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked, bent or parts,
frayed Copper Booster Cables (parts #1, #2), and any other condition that may
affect its safe operation. If a problem occurs, have the problem corrected before
further use. Do not use damaged equipment.
3. TO REPLACE THE EMERGENCY LIGHT BULB: Carefully squeeze the sides of
the plastic Light Case together and remove the Light Case and Light
Lens. Unscrew and remove the burned out Light Bulb and replace with a

5. TO CLEAN, wipe with a clean, damp cloth. If necessary, a mild detergent may
be used.

F. NiCad batteries must be
recyled or disposed of properly. Do not short terminals.
Do not incinerate. Risk of electic shock; use only in dry location.
Only use with battery packs distributed by Harbor Freight Tools; others
may burst, causing personal injury and/or property damage. If battery pack
is cracked or damaged in any way, do not insert it in charger.

4. TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES: Always make sure the
two
Batteries (part #13)
are replaced at the same time. To replace the Batteries, unscrew and remove
the ten phillips
Screws
that hold the
Back Cover
in place. Remove the Back
Cover to expose the
Battery Compartment
. Remove the two
Holding Brackets
.
Carefully lift the two Batteries out of the Battery Compartment. Remove the
Copper Booster Cables (parts #1, #2) and the
Red
and
Black Recharging Wires
from the Battery Terminals. Make sure the Red Copper Booster Cables and Red
Recharging Wires are attached tothe Positive (+) Battery Terminals. Then,
attach the Black Copper Booster Cables and Black Recharging Wires to the
Negative (--) Battery Terminals. Carefully slide the two new Batteries back into
the Battery Compartment. Replace the two Holding Brackets to secure the
Batteries in place. Position the Back Cover back in place, and secure the Back
Cover with the ten phillips Screws.
new Light Bulb. Then, snap the Light Lens and Light Case back into place.
