Installing the Si 4000 Modem
Congratulations on your purchase of the Si 4000 Modem, the compact, portable subscriber
unit that provides a wireless high-speed connection in almost any environment. With 'plug
and play' operation, configuration is simple and in a matter of minutes you can begin to
receive broadband service.
Before you begin, make sure you have the User name and password (provided by your ISP/
operator).

Select a Location
The modem can be installed on any horizontal surface, such as a desktop or shelf. Be sure
to select a suitable location for the unit. Consider these points:
Select a cool, dry place, which is out of direct sunlight.
Leave adequate space (approximately 5cm /two inches) on all sides for proper air flow.
Locate the unit near an AC power outlet that provides 100V to 240V.
Avoid metal obstacles such as metal window frames or metal film anti-glare windows in
the transmission path.
Position the unit at least 1 meter away from any WiFi device (if used), to avoid
interference.
Position the unit away from electrical equipment, metal furniture, and moving metal
objects such as metal fans or doors.
CAUTION
To avoid damage to the product, use ONLY the power adapter supplied
with the unit.
Do not install the Si 4000 modem outdoors.

Installation and Connection
1 Place the unit on a flat horizontal surface.
2 Connect the data cable to the modem’s data port ( ) (see Figure 2).
3 Connect the other end of the data cable to the network port of your PC/swtich.
4 Connect a standard (analog) telephone set to the modem’s telephone port ( )using a
standard telephone cable with RJ-11 connector (see
Figure 2).
5 Connect the power cable to the power adapter.
6 Connect the power adapter to the modem (see Figure 2).
7 Connect the power adapter to the wall outlet. Wait a few seconds for the modem to
initialize.
8 If a CDROM is supplied with your modem, insert it to the CDROM drive, run the CPE
Auto-configuration Tool executable, and follow the instructions in
“Installing the
WiMAX Modem Using the WiMAX Modem Application CD” on page 4
.

Installing the WiMAX Modem Using the WiMAX Modem
Application CD
1 From the CDROM supplied with the unit,
run the CPE Auto Configuration Tool:
CPEAutoConfigTool.exe; The Installation
Setup Wizard window is displayed.
2 Click
Next to continue; The Choose Your
ISP window is displayed.
3 Choose the ISP (Internet Service Provider)
ConfigFile from the list and click
Next.
The Ready To Install window is displayed.

4 Click
Install. If your CPE is powered up,
click
OK for performing system reboot. If
not, power on the CPE and click
OK.
The tool starts the auto-configuration
process of the CPE settings. It will change
default settings by using the *.ipk file, and
then run “reset to factory default” by using
default configuration in the file.
5 When the installation is complete, an
Installation Success window is displayed.
Click
OK.
6 Click
Finish. The CPE is now configured
with the parameters from the ConfigFile.

Troubleshooting
The lights on the modem indicate the strength of the signal received. The more lights
illuminate, the stronger the received signal. If the modem is not able to receive any signal,
choose another location for the unit.

Telephone Safety Precautions
