2.Electricalsafety
A.Powertoolplugsmustmatchtheoutlet.Nevermodify
thepluginanyway.Donotuseanyadapterplugswith
earthed(grounded)powertools.Unmodiedplugsand
matchingoutletswillreduceriskofelectricshock.
B.Avoidbodycontactwithearthedorgroundedsurfaces
suchaspipes,radiators,rangesandrefrigerators.There
isanincreasedriskofelectricshockifyourbodyisearthed
orgrounded.
C.Donotexposepowertoolstorainorwetconditions.Water
enteringapowertoolwillincreasetheriskofelectricshock.
D.Donotabusethecord.Neverusethecordforcarrying,
pullingorunpluggingthepowertool.Keepcordaway
fromheat,oil,sharpedgesormovingparts.Damagedor
entangledcordsincreasetheriskofelectricshock.
E.Whenoperatingapowertooloutdoors,useanextension

3.Personalsafety
A.Stayalert;watchwhatyouaredoingandusecommon
sensewhenoperatingapowertool.Donotuseapower
toolwhileyouaretiredorundertheinuenceofdrugs,
alcoholormedication.Amomentofinattentionwhile
operatingpowertoolsmayresultinseriouspersonalinjury.
B.Usepersonalprotectiveequipment.Alwaysweareye
protection.Protectiveequipmentsuchasdustmask,
non-skidsafetyshoes,hardhat,orhearingprotectionusedfor
appropriateconditionswillreducepersonalinjuries.
C.Preventunintentionalstarting.Ensuretheswitchisinthe
off-positionbeforeconnectingtopowersourceand/or
batterypack,pickinguporcarryingthetool.Carrying
powertoolswithyourngerontheswitchorenergizingpower
toolsthathavetheswitchoninvitesaccidents.
D.Removeanyadjustingkeyorwrenchbeforeturningthe
powertoolon.Awrenchorakeyleftattachedtoarotating

4.Powertooluseandcare
A.Donotforcethepowertool.Usethecorrectpowertool
foryourapplication.Thecorrectpowertoolwilldothejob
betterandsaferattherateforwhichitwasdesigned.
B.Donotusethepowertooliftheswitchdoesnotturniton
andoff.Anypowertoolthatcannotbecontrolledwiththe
switchisdangerousandmustberepaired.
C.Disconnecttheplugfromthepowersourceand/orthe
batterypackfromthepowertoolbeforemakingany
adjustments,changingaccessories,orstoringpower
tools.Suchpreventivesafetymeasuresreducetheriskof
startingthepowertoolaccidentally.
D.Storeidlepowertoolsoutofthereachofchildrenanddo
notallowpersonsunfamiliarwiththepowertoolorthese
instructionstooperatethepowertool.Powertoolsare
dangerousinthehandsofuntrainedusers.

5.Batterytooluseandcare
A.Rechargeonlywiththechargerspeciedbythe
manufacturer.Achargerthatissuitableforonetypeof
batterypackmaycreateariskofrewhenusedwithanother
batterypack.
B.Usepowertoolsonlywithspecicallydesignatedbattery
packs.Useanyotherbatterypacksmaycreateariskofinjury
andre.
C.Whenbatterypackisnotinuse,keepitawayfromthe
othermetalobjects,likepaperclips,coins,keys,nails,
screws,orothersmallmetalobjectsthatcanmakea
connectionfromoneterminaltoanother.Shortingthe
batteryterminalstogethermaycauseburnsorare.
D.Underabusiveconditions,liquidmaybeejectedfromthe
battery;avoidcontact.Ifcontactaccidentallyoccurs,
ushwithwater.Ifliquidcontactseyes,additionallyseek
medicalhelp.Liquidejectedfromthebatterymaycause
irritationorburns.
E.Chargingtimewillbeincreasedifthebatteryischargedwhen
thetemperatureisnotbetween41to104degreesF(5to40
degreesC).
6.Service
Haveyourpowertoolservicedbyaqualiedrepairperson
usingonlyidenticalreplacementparts.Thiswillensurethatthe
safetyofthepowertoolismaintained.
HedgeTrimmerSafetyWarnings
Usebothhandswhenoperatingthehedgetrimmer.Using
onehandcouldcauselossofcontrolandresultinserious
personalinjury.
Keepallpartsofthebodyawayfromthecutterblade.Do
notremovecutmaterialorholdmaterialtobecutwhen
bladesaremoving.Makesuretheswitchisoffwhenclearing
jammedmaterial.Bladescoastafterturnoff.Amomentof
inattentionwhileoperatingthehedgetrimmermayresultinserious
personalinjury.
Carrythehedgetrimmerbythehandlewiththecutterblade
stopped.Properhandlingofthehedgetrimmerwillreduce
possiblepersonalinjuryfromthecutterblades.
Holdthepowertoolbyinsulatedgrippingsurfacesonly,
becausethecutterblademaycontacthiddenwiringoritsown
cord.Cutterbladescontactinga“live”wiremaymakeexposed
metalpartsofthepowertool“live”andcouldgivetheoperator
anelectricshock.
DANGERKeephandsawayfromblade.Contactwithblade
willresultinseriouspersonalinjury.

6.Slidethelockswitchbackwards,towardsyou,thensqueezethe
triggerswitchtoturnonthehedgetrimmer(Figure2).Thetrimmer
willstayonaslongasthetriggerswitchissqueezed.Lock-off
switchmaybereleasedoncehedgetrimmerisrunning(Figure2).

Theunitisusedforcuttingineitherdirectioninaslow,sweeping
actionfromsidetoside.
Standsothatyouarestableandbalancedonbothfeet.Donot
overreach.
Inspectandcleartheareaofanyhiddenobjects.
Neverusethehedgetrimmernearpowerlines,fencing,posts,
buildings,orotherimmovableobjects.
Neveruseabladeafterhittingahardobjectwithoutrstinspecting
itfordamage.Donotuseifanydamageisdetected.
Nevertouchbladesorserviceunitwiththepowersupply
connected.
Donotforcethehedgetrimmerthroughheavyshrubbery.This
cancausethebladestobindandslowdown.Ifthebladesslow
down,reducethepace.
Donotattempttocutstemsortwigsthatarelargerthan9/16in.,
orthoseobviouslytoolargetofeedintothecuttingblade.Usea
non-poweredhandsaworpruningsawtotrimlargestems.
Ifbladesdobecomejammed,stopthemotor,allowtheblades
tostop,andremovethebatterybeforeattemptingtoremovethe
obstruction.
Ifdesired,youcanuseastringtohelpcutyourhedgelevel.
Decidehowhighyouwantthehedge.Stretchapieceofstring
alongthehedgeatthedesiredheight.Trimthehedgejustabove
theguidelineofstring.
Trimthesideofahedgesothatitwillbeslightlynarroweratthe
top.Moreofthehedgewillbeexposedwhenshapedthisway,and
itwillbemoreuniform.
Weargloveswhentrimmingthornyorpricklygrowth.When
trimmingnewgrowth,useawidesweepingaction,sothatthe
stemsarefeddirectlyintothecuttingblade.Oldergrowthwill
havethickerstemsandwillbetrimmedeasiestbyusingasawing
movement.

Maintenance
OilingtheTrimmerBlade
Note:Thetrimmerbladeshouldbeoiledbeforeandaftereachuse.
1.Stopthemotorandremovethebattery.
2.Cleandirtanddebrisfromthebodyofthehedgetrimmer,usinga
dampclothwithamilddetergent.
Note:Donotuseanystrongdetergentsontheplastichousingor
thehandle.Theycanbedamagedbycertainaromaticoilssuchas
pineandlemon,andbysolventssuchaskerosene.
3.Laythehedgetrimmeronaatsurface.Applylightweight
machineoilalongtheedgeofthetopblade.Ifyouwillbeusing
thehedgetrimmerforanextendedperiodoftime,itisadvisableto
oilthebladeduringuse.
Note:Donotoilwhilethehedgetrimmerisrunning.
BatteryPackPreparationForRecycling
WARNING
Uponremoval,coverthebatterypack'sterminalswithheavy-duty
adhesivetape.Donotattempttodestroyordisassemblethe
batterypackorremoveanyofitscomponents.Lithium-ion
