This appliance can be used by children of 8 years and older,
and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capacity, or with a lack of experience and/or knowledge, but
only with proper supervision, or if they have been told how
to use the appliance safely, and have understood the risks
involved if they use it improperly.
Children must not be allowed to play with the appliance.
Do not allow children to clean the appliance or perform
maintenance tasks on it unless they are aged 8years or older
and properly supervised.
Do not allow children younger than 8 years old near the
appliance and its power cord.

Risk of electric shock!
There is a risk of electric shock or short circuit due to live parts.
Only connect the appliance to a properly installed, earthed and
fused outlet. The power outlet must be easily accessible so you
can unplug the appliance from the mains quickly if necessary.
Before using the appliance, check that the voltage information
on the appliance matches the local supply voltage.
Switch off the power point and pull out the plug from the
earthed mains outlet after each use, before cleaning and
during periods when the appliance is left unattended.
When disconnecting the product from the earthed mains
outlet, always pull on the plug rather than on the cable.
Unwind the mains cable fully when using the appliance.
Do not kink or crush the mains cable.
Avoid the use of extension cables in order to prevent tripping.
Do not allow the mains cable to come into contact with water or
other liquids.
Make sure that the mains cable does not present a trip hazard.
Do not allow the mains cable to become trapped or squashed.

Do not use if the appliance, mains cable or plug is visibly
damaged or if the appliance has been dropped.
If the plug, mains cable or appliance is damaged, immediately
remove the plug from the earthed mains outlet.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualifi ed persons in
order to avoid a hazard.
There are dangerous voltages inside the appliance. Never open
the housing or slide objects into the ventilation slots.
To completely disconnect the appliance from the power supply,
the mains plug must be removed from the earthed mains
outlet.
Appliances connected to the mains during a thunderstorm may
be damaged by power surges. For this reason, always unplug
the plug if there is a thunderstorm.
To prevent risks, only have repairs to the appliance or mains
cable carried out by the Service Centre or by a qualifi ed
specialist workshop. Improper repair work may result in
signifi cant risks to the user.
Do not place the appliance near to sinks and do not expose it to
water droplets or spray.
If the appliance has been moved from a cold room to a warm
room, wait before connecting the mains plug to the power
supply. The resulting condensation may damage the appliance.
The appliance can be operated safely as soon as it has reached
room temperature.
Do not use the appliance outdoors.
Unplug the plug from the earthed mains outlet before cleaning
the appliance.
Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

The touchable surfaces on the appliance may become hot during
operation.
Do not move the appliance while it is in use.
Allow the appliance to cool completely before replacing or
removing the grill plates.
Always take hold of the appliance by the handle when it is in
use. Use oven gloves to do so.
Steam escapes during grilling. Do not reach into this steam.
Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning it.

Hot surfaces pose a risk of fi re.
Do not operate this appliance with an external timer or a
separate remote control system, such as a remote control
mains socket.
Never leave the appliance unattended when the appliance is
in use.
Do not allow the mains cable to come into contact with hot
objects or surfaces (e.g. cooker hob).
Never place the appliance on the edge of a table – it could tip
over and fall.
Ensure that the appliance does not come into contact with any
other objects during operation. Allow suffi cient clearance in all
directions and above. Above all, do not set up the appliance
near easily fl ammable materials (curtains, drapes, paper, etc.).
There is a risk of fi re.
Do not cover the appliance.

Do not place the appliance on surfaces that can become hot
(e.g. on hotplates).

Sensitive surfaces on the grill plates.
Avoid the use of sharp objects to prevent scratches. Use wood
or heatproof plastic utensils to remove the grilled foods.
Do not use metal objects to clean the grill plates, only a soft,
slightly damp cloth. Observe the notes in section “Cleaning” on
page 16.
Operate the appliance indoors only.
Do not expose the appliance to extreme conditions. Avoid:
High humidity or wet conditions
Extremely high or low temperatures
Direct sunlight
Open fl ames
Chemical additives in furniture coatings may corrode the material
of the appliance feet and cause residue on the furniture surface.
Place the appliance on a heat-resistant mat if necessary.

Keep packaging material such as plastic fi lm or plastic bags
away from children.
Remove the product from the packaging and remove all packaging material.

Before using the appliance for the fi rst time
Place the appliance on a level, dry and heat-resistance work surface at a
comfortable working height.
Clean the grill plates with a soft, slightly damp cloth before using the appliance
for the fi rst time and after every subsequent use. Dry the grill plates completely.
Using the contact grill
WARNING!
Risk of burning!
The touchable surfaces on the appliance are hot when the
appliance is in use.
Always take hold of the appliance by the handle or
temperature control when it is in use. There is a risk of burns!
During this initial heating period you may notice faint odours. This does
not mean that the appliance is malfunctioning. Lightly grease the grill
plates, close the lid and allow the appliance to heat up for approx. 10
minutes without food. Please ensure adequate ventilation, e.g. by
opening a window.
Prepare the food according to the recipe.
Push the grease drip tray into the recess underneath the contact grill.
Close the lid and insert the mains plug into an earthed mains outlet.
The red operating light indicates that the appliance is in use.
Set the temperature control to the desired temperature (MAX 180°C).
The green operating light indicates the heating operation.
As soon as the green operating light goes out, the grill plates are fully heated and the
contact grill can be used.

Grilling food
CAUTION!
Risk of burning!
Hot steam or splashes of fat will escape when you open the lid.
To avoid burns, do not reach into the steam.
Only touch the grilled food using appropriate utensils, e.g.
tongs.
NOTICE!
Possible material damage!
There is a risk of damage to the appliance if it is used improperly.
Sensitive surfaces on the grill plates.
Do not use sharp objects or utensils made of metal that could
damage the non-stick coating on the grill plates.
The contact grill can be used to prepare various foods such as meat, fi sh and much
more. The preparation time depends on the thickness and nature of the food.
Close the lid and insert the mains plug into an earthed mains outlet.
The red operating light and the green control light begin to light up.
As soon as the heating process is complete and the green control light is no
longer lit up, press the lid lock down and lift the lid up.
Place the prepared food on the lower grill plate.
Close the lid again and press this slightly down using the handle so that you can
close the lid lock.
Check the food on the grill after about 2 to 4 minutes, to avoid burning the food.
If necessary, adjust the temperature of the grill to ensure that food is grilled to
perfection.
If the grilled food is not yet cooked through, close the lid again.
If the grilled food is ready, remove it from the grill using a heat-resistant wooden
or plastic utensil.
Switching the appliance off

No oil or fat is required when grilling since the grill plates feature a non-
stick coating. If you would like to use a little fat/oil anyway, take care to
ensure that this is suitable for frying.
Switching the appliance off
Switch off the appliance after each use by turning the temperature control
completely to the left and removing the mains plug from the earthed mains
outlet.
Allow the appliance to cool with the grill plates open and clean it.
Storing the appliance
Clean the appliance as shown in section “Cleaning” on page 16 and allow it to
dry completely.
Close the grill plates.
Store the appliance in a dry location. Avoid extreme environmental conditions.
Faults and remedies
Fault Remedy
No function Is the mains plug in the earthed mains outlet?
The food is too light/not cooked. Do the control lights for the grill plates indicate
the grill temperature reached?
Leave to cook for longer.
The food is too dark. Reduce the grill time.
Food sticks to the grill plates. Grease the grill plates, if necessary, using a brush
and a little cooking oil.

Clean the appliance after each use and remove all food residues. Please note the
following:

Unplug the plug from the earthed mains outlet before cleaning
the appliance.
Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

The grill plates are extremely hot.
Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning it.
NOTICE!
Possible material damage!
There is a risk of damage to the appliance if it is cleaned
improperly. Sensitive surfaces on the grill plates.
Do not use any abrasive or harsh cleaning solutions on the
non-stick grill plates or the appliance housing.
Use the supplied spatula to clean the grill, once the appliance
has cooled completely.
Empty the oil from the grease drip tray into the household waste. Rinse the
grease drip tray with water and a mild washing-up liquid.
Dry the grill plates carefully using a soft cloth.

The product has been packaged to protect it from damage in transit. The packaging is
made of materials that can be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
DEVICE
Old devices may not be disposed of with normal household waste. If you
can no longer use your electrical device, dispose of it in accordance with
the legal provisions applicable in your area. This involves separating the
materials in the device for the purpose of recycling and minimising the
environmental impact.
Take old devices to a collection point for electrical scrap or a recycling centre.
Contact your local waste disposal company or your local authority for more
information on this subject.
