How do I setup my Netgear DG834G router?
This guide assumes the Netgear router is receiving an ADSL signal and is connected to the
computer using the provided Ethernet cable.
We'd recommend that you also read our guide to securing your Netgear wireless
connection once you're all set up.
Please note: It's normally a good idea to hard reset your Netgear router before attempting a
setup. This is especially the case if you've made several attempts to complete the setup and failed.
Hard reset your Netgear router
1. Make sure your router is switched on, and carefully push something thin, like a pin, into the
small reset hole in the back of the router
2. Hold the reset button in for at least 15 seconds and then release

Setting up your Netgear router
1. Open your Internet browser, enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar and select Go
2. When prompted, enter the following details then select OK:
Username as admin
Password as password

3. Click on ADSL Settings near the top of the menu bar
Set Multiplexing Method to LLC-BASED.
Set VPI to 1 and set VCI to 50. Click Apply.

4. Select Basic Settings, complete the following details and then Apply
Scroll down to Login name and remove Guest
For Login: Your KCOM Username
For Password: Your KCOM Password

5. To check the Netgear router is connected to the ADSL service click Router Status and
then Connections Status
6. If you're connected, Connecting to Server should show as Connected and
Authentication should show as Success
