cording to UL guidelines.
There is a danger of damage to property or personal injury if improperly used.
Please dispose of your product in accordance with the currently applicable regula-
tions in your country.
1.2 Explanation of symbols
Safety instructions are indicated in these instructions as follows.
DANGER
Indicates a hazardous situation.
Failure to avoid such a situation may lead to severe or even fatal injury.
NOTE
Indicates basic information and work recommendations.
NOTE
Indicates a reference to another instruction.

SAFETY
2 Safety
NOTICE
Please adhere to the following points to avoid any exposure to danger:
Only use UL-certified components.
The live components are only de-energised when the power plug is disconnected or
the power supply is switched off via an appropriate circuit breaker.
If a live component is damaged, it must be replaced by Vitra Service or by a qualified
specialist.
All work on and with electrical components may only be carried out by qualified spe-
cialists.
The live components are only designed for indoor use.
The electrical system of the furniture must be connected to an electrical supply with a
protective conductor (grounding).
The electrical system of the furniture must be protected by a residual current device
(RCD) with a rated differential current not greater than 30 mA.
DANGER
Unsecured electrical power!
Risk of fatal injury from electric shock
Disconnect the power supply before carrying out assembly and maintenance work.
Disconnect the power supply in the event of thunderstorms and before lengthy ab-
sences.
Disconnect the power supply if the unit begins to emit smoke, odours or unusual
noises.
The power supply must be easily accessible.
The maximum grid capacities specific to each country must not be exceeded.
Check all live components for damage before use.
Do not use if live components are damaged.
Prevent the live components from coming into contact with liquids.
Do not place live components near naked flames.
Do not tamper with live components.
Do not kink the cables or put undue weight on them.

5.2 Specifications for the wiring
NOTE
To ensure safe use, the individual points on cable routing must be observed.
General information
Electrical components are not to be mounted on the exterior; cables must always be
routed on the inside of the furniture. Danger of snagging when walking by.
Current outputs of the GST-18 sockets that are not used must be covered.
Load on GST-18 plug connections must always be avoided.

MOUNTING PRINCIPLE AND INSTRUCTIONS

Feed cables
Where necessary, feed cables must be clearly marked; see point 5.2.1 "Marking of sepa-
rate circuits".
Make sure that the feed cables do not become trip hazards (1).
Either all power plugs themselves must be directly accessible or, optionally, the appropri-
ate circuit breaker must be accessible and marked.
Each feed cable must be fused separately.
One permanently mounted strain relief (2) must be fitted for each cable line that is routed
up from below.
Connecting cables and feed cables
A minimum bending radius of Rmin. = 50 mm/1.97" must be observed (7/10).
Attach cable fasteners immediately before and after the bending radius (3).
Maximum distance between two cable fasteners 400 mm/15.7" (4).
Attach cable fasteners immediately after the transition between plug connections (5).
Cables between cable fasteners may not be subjected to any load (6).
Multiple outlet strips (8)
The number of multiple outlet strips or sockets per circuit must be taken into account on a
country-specific basis.
Multiple outlet strips should be easily accessible and must not be used while covered.
All multiple outlet strips must be fixed according to specifications; see point 6.1 "Fitting
multiple outlet strip to column" and 6.2 "Fitting multiple outlet strip to table top".
Do not insert heavy plug devices into the multiple outlet strips (max. 50 g/1.76 oz).
Do not install multiple outlet strips in the lower area (9).
NOTE
For the assembly of the electrification system, observe assembly instruc-
tions “General electrification UL” 62913734.

MOUNTING PRINCIPLE AND INSTRUCTIONS
5.2.1 Marking of separate circuits
NOTE
All separate circuits shall be clearly recognisable/identifiable at the lead cables, electric
sockets, and distributors.
Any required markings must be made on site during installation.
