IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS
1. Before beginning any exercise program,
consult your physician. This is especially
important for persons over age 35 or
persons with pre-existing health problems.
2. Use the elliptical only as described in this
manual.
3. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure
that all users of the elliptical are adequately
informed of all precautions.
4. The elliptical is intended for home use only.
Do not use the elliptical in a commercial,
rental, or institutional setting.
5. Keep the elliptical indoors, away from
moisture and dust. Place the elliptical on a
level surface, with a mat beneath it to protect
the oor or carpet. Make sure that there is at
least 3 ft. (0.9 m) of clearance in the front and
rear of the elliptical and 2 ft. (0.6 m) on each
side.
6. Inspect and properly tighten all parts
regularly. Replace any worn parts
immediately.
7. Keep children under age 12 and pets away
from the elliptical at all times.
8.The elliptical should not be used by persons
weighing more than 250 lbs. (115 kg).
9. Wear appropriate clothes while exercising;
do not wear loose clothes that could become
caught on the elliptical. Always wear athletic
shoes for foot protection while exercising.
10. Hold the handlebars or the upper body
arms when mounting, dismounting, or using
the elliptical.
11. The pulse sensor is not a medical device.
Various factors may affect the accuracy of
heart rate readings. The pulse sensor is
intended only as an exercise aid in
determining heart rate trends in general.
12. The elliptical does not have a freewheel;
the pedals will continue to move until the
ywheel stops. Reduce your pedaling speed
in a controlled way.
13. Keep your back straight while using the
elliptical; do not arch your back.
14. Over exercising may result in serious injury
or death. If you feel faint or if you experience
pain while exercising, stop immediately and
cool down.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Thank you for purchasing the ProForm® 475 ZLE.
The elliptical provides an array of features de-
signed to make your workouts at home more ef-
fective and enjoyable.
For your benet, read this manual carefully
before you use the elliptical. If you have ques-
tions after reading this manual, please see the
front cover of this manual. To help us assist you,
note the product model number and serial number
before contacting us. The model number is PFIV-
EL87310.0 and the location of the serial number
decal is under the main frame.

ASSEMBLY
STEP 1
1. Tighten the front bottom tube(23) to the
mainframe(1) with inner hexagon boltM8X72 (21),
arc washer D8×Φ19×1.5×R30 (20).
2. Tighten the rear bottom tube(3) to the main-
frame(1) with inner hexagon bolt M8X90 (4), arc
washer d8×2×Φ25×R39 (33).
STEP 2
Firstly put the protective guard (49) to the han-
dlebar post (46).Then connect the connection
wire (50) to the sensor wire(53), lastly tighten the
handlebar post(46) to the mainframe(1) with Inner
hexagon boltM8X16 (45), spring washerd8 (44),
at washerD8×Φ16×1.5 (12).

STEP 3
1. Attach the L/R Swing tube (24L/R)
to the shaft (51) on Handlebar post (46)
with Inner hexagon bolt (10),Spring washer
(11) D-shape washer (9) and Wave wash-
ers (35), But don’tighten them rst.
2. Tighten the L/R pedal tube joint (39)
to the L/R crank (56L/R) with Inner hexa-
gon bolt (10), Spring washer (11), D-shape
washer (9) and Wave washer (35), but don’t
tighten them rst.
3. Connect the Swing tube (24L/R) and
Pedal support (15L/R) with Bolt (18),Flat
washer (52), and Nylon nut (6).Then tight-
en the Inner hexagon bolt (10) and Bolt (18)
4. Attach the L/R handlebar (28L/R)
on the L/R Swing tube (24L/R) with Car-
riage bolt (36), Arc washer (20) and Nylon
nut (13).
STEP 4
Tighten the L/R pedal (14L/R) to the L/R
pedal support (15L/R) with Hexagon
boltM8×45 (37), at washer D8×Φ16×1.5
(12), nylon nut M8 (13).
STEP 5
1. Pass the pulse wire(43) out of the
hole of handlebar post and then out of the
hole of computer bracket.As the photo-
graph show.
2. Tighten the xed handlebar(42) to
the handlebar post(46) with inner hexagon
boltM8X16 (45) and spring washerd8 (44).

STEP 6
1. Fix the joint part of L/R handlebar (28L/R)
and L/R swing tube(24L/R) with protective
guard(26a/b), protective guard(55a/b), then tighten
them with screwST3.5X10(27).
2. Tighten the protective guard (17L/R) to the
L/R pedal support (15L/R) with screw ST4.2X18
(34).
3. Tighten the protective guard (54a/b) to the
L/R pedal tube joint (39L/R) with screwM5X10 (16).
STEP 7
1. Connect the connection wire (50), pulse
wire(43) to the computer wires, then x the com-
puter (31) to the computer bracket in the handlebar
post(46), lastly tighten the computer with screw-
M4X12 (57), at washerD5(48).
2. Tighten protective guard (32/47) to the han-
dlebar post (46) with screwST4.2X18 (34).

CONSOLE FEATURES
Follow your progress with the display.
The console has ve displays that show the
following workout information:
Speed—This display shows your pedaling speed,
in revolutions per minute (rpm).
Time—This display shows the elapsed time.
Note: When a smart program is selected, the display
will show the time remaining in the program
instead of the elapsed time.
Distance—This display shows the distance you
have pedaled, in total revolutions.
Calories—This display shows the approximate
number of calories you have burned.
Watts—This display shows the watts you developed
during the workout.
HOW TO USE THE CONSOLE
1. Turn on the console
Make sure to plug the power adapter, then to start
the console, simply press one of the button or begin
pedaling. If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the
face of the console, remove it.
2. Press the buttons :
UP:
Slide this button to increase the resistance during the
workout or during the setting mode to increase the
values of Time, Distance, Calories, Age or gender or
the programs.
DOWN :
Slide this button to increase the resistance during the
workout or during the setting mode to increase the
values of Time, Distance, Calories, Age or Gender or
programs.
ENTER :
During the time setting mode, press this button to
validate the hours and minutes.
During the setting mode, press this button to
validate the adjusted values.
During the STOP mode, press this button to reset
the values.
ST/SP (START/STOP) :
For a quick start, press this button to start the
counting of the console, it will start at 0. If you hold
this button for more than 2 sec it rests the values.
Press this button if you want to pause your program.
PULSE RECOVERY :
Press this button to activate the recovery test.
3. Start pedaling and follow your progress with
the display :
While you exercise, the console will display the
selected mode.
4. When you are nished exercising, the console
will automatically turn off.
The console has an “auto-off” feature. If the pedals
do not move and the console buttons are not
pressed for a few minutes, the power will turn off
automatically.
How to use the Pulse Recovery Test :
It is a function to check the condition of pulse
recovery that is scaled from 1.0 to 6.0 while 1.0
means the best and 6.0 means the worst and the
increment is 0.1. In order to get rated correctly,
users must test it right after the workout nished by
pressing RECOVERY key (the word RECOVER is
displayed) and then stop exercising. After the key is
pressed, please also apply the heart rate detector
appropriately, the test will last for 1 minute and
the result will show in the display. If the computer
does not detect your current heart rate, pressing
RECOVERY will not enter into pulse recovery test.
During the pulse recovery test, press RECOVERY
to exit the test and return to the stop status.
CONSOLE FEATURES

1. Turn on the console.
Make sure to plug the power adapter, then to start
the console, simply press one of the button or begin
pedaling.
2. Select the manual mode.
When you turn on the console, the manual mode will
be selected. If you have selected a program,
reselect the manual mode by pressing the Smart
Programs button repeatedly until zeros appear in
the display.
Slide the UP or DOWN to select Program 1. The
resistance level is 6 by default. TIME wil ash on
the console, slide the UP and DOWN button to
select the length of your workout. Press ENTER
to validate. Then do as before for the DISTANCE,
CALORIES and PULSE. Finally press ST/SP button
to start.
3. Change the resistance of the pedals as
desired.
As you pedal, change the resistance of the pedals
by sliding UP and DOWN button. There are 16
resistance levels. Note: After you’ve pressed the
buttons, it will take a moment for the pedals to reach
the selected resistance level.
4. Follow your progress with the display.
The console displays the elapsed time and the
distance you’ve pedaled. Note: When a smart
program is selected, the display will show the time
remaining in the program instead of the elapsed
time.It also displays your pedaling speed (in RPM),
the calories you’ve burnt and also your heart rate
when you use the handgrip pulse sensor.
5. Measure your heart rate if desired.
Note: If there are sheets of clear plastic on the metal
contacts of the handgrip pulse sensor, remove the
plastic. To measure your heart rate, hold the handgrip
pulse sensor, with your palms resting against the
metal contacts. Avoid moving your hands or gripping
the contacts tightly. When your pulse is detected, the
heart-shaped indicator in the display will ash each
time your heart beats. After a moment, your heart rate
will be shown in the display. For the most accurate
heart rate reading, continue to hold the handgrips for
about 15 seconds. If your heart rate is not shown, make
sure that your hands are positioned as described.
Be careful not to move your hand excessively or to
squeeze the metal contacts too tightly. For optimal
performance, clean the metal contacts using a soft
cloth; never use alcohol, abrasives, or chemicals to
clean the contacts.
6. Pause your program.
If you want to pause your program, simply press the
ST/SP button. Note : If the pedals do not move for a
few minutes, the console will turn off and the display
will be reset.
HOW TO USE THE PRESET PROGRAMS :
1. Turn on the console
To turn on the console, press any button on the
console or simply begin pedaling.
2.Select your preset program
Press the ENTER button then turn the UP/DOWN
button to select a program from 1 to 10. Select your
program according to your goals and proles that is
displayed on the console.
3.Adjust the program according to your daily
goals :
TIME will ash on the console, press the UP or
DOWN button to select the length of your workout.
Press the ENTER button to validate. DISTANCE
will then ash, repeat the operations to select and
validate the distance. Do as before for CALORIES
and PULSE. Finally, press the ST/SP button to start
your workout.
4. Change the resistance of the pedals as
desired.
As you pedal, change the resistance of the pedals
by pressing the Resistance increase and decrease
buttons. There are ten resistance levels. Note: After
you’ve pressed the buttons, it will take a moment for
the pedals to reach the selected resistance level.
5. Pause your program.
If you want to pause your program, simply press the
ST/SP button. Note : If the pedals do not move for a
few minutes, the console will turn off and the display
will be reset.

WATT PROGRAM :
1. Turn on the console
Make sure to plug the power adapter, then to start
the console, simply press one of the button or begin
pedaling.
2.Select your preset program
Slide the UP and DOWN button to select program
11 (written WATT). Wait until the word WATT begins
ashing. Press the ENTER button to validate.
3.Entering your datas
Choose either the time data (press the ENTER
button once) or distance data (press the ENTER
button twice) or calories data (press the ENTER
button three times), then select your watt data, then
slide the UP and DOWN button to select your data
value then press ENTER to validate. FInally, press
the ST/SP to start.
This program depends on your speed, as a
consequence, you cannot adjust your resistance
level.
4. Pause your program.
If you want to pause your program, simply press the
ST/SP button. Note : If the pedals do not move for a
few minutes, the console will turn off and the display
will be reset.
HEART RATE CONTROL PROGRAMS :
1. Turn on the console
Make sure to plug the power adapter, then to start
the console, simply press one of the button or begin
pedaling.
2.Select your preset program
Slide the UP and DOWN button to select program
12 to 15. Wait until the word PROGRAM begins
ashing. Press the ENTER button to validate.
Each program corresponds to a specic target :
Program 12 corresponds to 55% of Max HRC
Program 13corresponds to 75% of Max HRC
Program 14 corresponds to 90% of Max HRC
Program 15 you dene your HRC traget
The HRC is calculated as follow : 220- your age. For
instance, for a person of 35 years old : 220-35 = 185
pulse/min.
3. Entering your datas
AGE will ash, press the UP and DOWN button
to select your AGE, then slide the UP and DOWN
button to select your target, then press ENTER to
validate.
Do as before, to set up TIME, DISTANCE and
CALORIES. Finally, press ST/SP to start.
4. Change the resistance
Hold the handgrip pulse sensor, the resistance level
wil adjust automatically so as to reach your target
heart rate.
5. Pause your program.
If you want to pause your program, simply press the
ST/SP button. Note : If the pedals do not move for a
few minutes, the console will turn off and the display
will be reset.

USER SETTING PROGRAMS :
1. Turn on the console
To turn on the console, press any button on the
console or simply begin pedaling.
2.Select your preset program
Press the UP and DOWN button to select program
16 to 19 (written Custom 1, 2, 3 or 4). Wait until the
word PROGRAM begins ashing. Press the ENTER
button to validate.
3.Entering your datas
Users are free to edit the values in the order of
TIME, DISTANCE, CAL, AGE, and the level of
resistance in 10 intervals. The values and proles
will be stored in the memory after setup.
To do that, once the program is selected, choose
the length of your exercice, then press the ENTER
button three times, the rst column will be ashing
and you’ll use the UP and DOWN button to create
your prole. Press ENTER to validate, you’ll then
move on the 2nd column. Do the same as before for
the 10 columns. Finally press ST/SP button to start.
4. Change the resistance of the pedals as
desired.
As you pedal, change the resistance of the pedals
by pressing the UP and DOWN button. There are
16 resistance levels. Note: After you’ve pressed the
buttons, it will take a moment for the pedals to reach
the selected resistance level.
BODYFAT PROGRAMS :
1. Turn on the console
To turn on the console, press any button on the
console or simply begin pedaling.
2.Select your preset program
Slide the UP and DOWN button to select program
20 (written FAT). Wait until the word FAT begins
ashing. Press the ENTER button to validate.
Program 20 is a special program designed to
calculate users’ body fat ratio and to design a
specic loading prole for users.
3.Entering your datas
With 5 different body types, the computer can
generate 5 different proles (Slim, Healthy, Fleshy,
Over WT and Obese) for each. Press “ENTER” key
to select HEIGHT WEIGHT AGE and GENDER,.
Then, slide the UP or DOWN button to adjust the
values. After pressing “ST/SP” key to calculate
body fat, please also apply the heart rate detector
appropriately. If the detector cannot pick up any
signals, an error message “Err” will show up in the
prole display. If it happens, press “ST/SP” key to
calculate again. Then, the calculation values of
FAT%, BMR, BMI, BODY TYPE, and a designed
prole will show up shortly. Press “ST/SP” key to
calculate your prole again. The prole shown in the
display is specially designed for your body type.
HOW TO EXERCISE ON THE ELLIPTICAL
EXERCISER
To mount the elliptical exerciser, hold the upper
body arms and step onto the pedal that is in the
lowest position. Then, step onto the other pedal.
Push the pedals until they begin to move with a
continuous motion.
Note: The pedal discs can turn in either direction. It
is recommended that you move the pedal discs in
the direction shown by the arrow;
however, for variety, you may turn the pedal discs
in the opposite direction.
The upper body arms are designed to add upper-
body exercise to your workouts. As you exercise,
push and pull the upper body arms to work your
arms, shoulders, and back. To focus on lower-body
exercise, hold the upper body arms but do not push
or pull them as you exercise.
To dismount the elliptical exerciser, wait until the
pedals come to a complete stop. Note: The elliptical
exerciser does not have a free wheel; the pedals
will continue to move until the ywheel stops.
When the pedals are stationary, step off the highest
pedal rst. Then, step off the lower pedal.
HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER ADAPTER
IMPORTANT: If the exercise bike has been
exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm
to room temperature before plugging in the
power adapter. If you do not do this, you may
damage the console displays or other electronic
components.
Plug the power adapter into the receptacle on the
frame of the exercise bike. Next, plug the power
adapter into the plug adapter. Then, plug the plug
adapter into an appropriate outlet that is properly
installed in accordance with all local codes and
ordinances.
Note: The console cannot work with battery, you
need to plug the adapter to use the product.

Measure your heart rate if desired
You can measure you heart rate using either the
handgrip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse
sensor.
Note: If you hold the handgrip pulse sensor and
wear the chest pulse sensor at the same time, the
console will not display your heart rate accurately.
If there are sheets of clear plastic on the metal
contacts on the handgrip pulse sensor, remove
the plastic. In addition, make sure that your hands
are clean. To measure your heart rate, hold the
handgrip pulse sensor with your palms resting
against the metal contacts. Avoid moving your
hands or gripping the contacts tightly.
When you are nished exercising
If the pedals do not move for several minutes and
the buttons are not pressed, the console will turn
off and the display will be resetéconomies des piles.

Inspect and tighten all parts of the exercise cycle
regularly.
Replace any worn parts immediately.
To clean the exercise cycle, use a damp cloth and a
small amount of mild detergent.
Important: To avoid damaging the console, keep
liquids away from the console and keep the console
out of direct sunlight.

EXERCISE GUIDELINES
WARNING:

gram, consult your physician. This is espe-
cially important for persons over the age of 35
or persons with pre-existing health problems.
The pulse sensor is not a medical device. Vari-
ous factors may affect the accuracy of heart
rate readings. The pulse sensor is intended
only as an exercise aid in determining heart
rate trends in general.
These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise
program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a
reputable book or consult your physician. Remember,
proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for
successful results.
EXERCISE INTENSITY
Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your
cardiovascular system, exercising at the proper in-
tensity is the key to achieving results. You can use
your heart rate as a guide to nd the proper intensity
level. The chart below shows recommended heart
rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise.
To nd the proper intensity level, nd your age at the
bottom of the chart (ages are rounded off to the near-
est ten years). The three numbers listed above your
age dene your “training zone.” The lowest number is
the heart rate for fat burning, the middle number is
the heart rate for maximum fat burning, and the high-
est number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise.
Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exer-
cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of
time. During the rst few minutes of exercise, your
body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only af-
ter the rst few minutes of exercise does your body
begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your
goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exer-
cise until your heart rate is near the lowest number
in your training zone. For maximum fat burning, ex-
ercise with your heart rate near the middle number in
your training zone.
Aerobic Exercise—If your goal is to strengthen your
cardiovascular system, you must perform aerobic
exercise, which is activity that requires large amounts
of oxygen for prolonged periods of time. For aerobic
exercise, adjust the intensity of your exercise until
your heart rate is near the highest number in your
training zone.
WORKOUT GUIDELINES
Warming Up—Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching
and light exercise. A warm-up increases your body
temperature, heart rate, and circulation in prepara-
tion for exercise.
Training Zone Exercise—Exercise for 20 to 30 min-
utes with your heart rate in your training zone. (During
the rst few weeks of your exercise program, do not
keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer
than 20 minutes.) Breathe regularly and deeply as
you exercise–never hold your breath.
Cooling Down—Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of
stretching. Stretching increases the exibility of your
muscles and helps to prevent post-exercise prob-
lems.
EXERCISE FREQUENCY
To maintain or improve your condition, complete three
workouts each week, with at least one day of rest
between workouts. After a few months of regular ex-
ercise, you may complete up to ve workouts each
week, if desired. Remember, the key to success is to
make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your
everyday life.

SUGGESTED STRETCHES
The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right.
Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce.
1. Toe Touch Stretch
Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from
your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach
down toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts,
then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Hamstrings, back of
knees, and back.
2. Hamstring Stretch
Sit with one leg extended. Bring the sole of the opposite foot
toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended
leg. Reach toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15
counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times for each leg. Stretches:
Hamstrings, lower back, and groin.
3. Calf/Achilles Stretch
With one leg in front of the other, reach forward and place your
hands against a wall. Keep your back leg straight and your back
foot at on the oor. Bend your front leg, lean forward and move
your hips toward the wall. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat
3 times for each leg. To cause further stretching of the achilles
tendons, bend your back leg as well. Stretches: Calves, achilles

4. Quadriceps Stretch
With one hand against a wall for balance, reach back and grasp
one foot with your other hand. Bring your heel as close to your
buttocks as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3
times for each leg. Stretches: Quadriceps and hip muscles.
5. Inner Thigh Stretch
Sit with the soles of your feet together and your knees outward.
Pull your feet toward your groin area as far as possible. Hold for
15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Quadriceps
and hip muscles.
