Prerequisites
Access the box through an interface other than the WAN as this procedure will take down the
WAN.
Procedure steps
Step Action
1 Enter global configuration mode:
configure terminal
2 Enter interface configuration mode on the WAN interface:
interface fastethernet 0/12
3 Disable the physical interface:
shutdown
4 Remove any configured IP address:
no ip address
5 Set the IP address of the WAN interface:
