IMPORTANT!
Before connecting the AC power cord to the wall outlet, ensure that all other connections have been made.
Never make or change any connections with the power switched on.
The type plate is located at the rear of the system.
1. Audio Output
, For connecting audio (Left / Right) signals to external recording devices such as VCR or Tape Recorder
and playing them through this.Home Theater System.
2. Audio input
For connecting audio (Left / Right) input signals from auxilliary sources such as VCR, TV or Satellite Receiver
and playing them through this Home Theater System.
3. Digital Coaxial Output
For connecting to external equipment that has a digital audio input jack, such as a CDR recorder.
Digital Optical Output
For connecting to external equipment that has a digital optical input jack. The digital optical output
carries the same signal as the digital audio output, it caters for a different type of connector cable.
4. FM Antenna input Connections
For FM reception, connect the FM antenna to the FM jack. Move the antenna invarious directions until
the clearest signal is received.
AM Loop Antenna Connections
ForAM reception, connect the AM loop antenna to the AM jack. Position the loop antenna to receive the
clearest sound.
Fully insert the stripped portion of the antenna into the terminal as shown above.
Note;
- Position the antenna as far as possible from a TV, VCR or other radiation source.
5. Component Video Out
This type of connectian gives the best quality picture so long as your TV is suitably equipped with
Component Video sockets.
6. S- Video Out
For connectina to the S-VIDEO IN lack on the TV usinq an optional S-Video cable.This type of connection

For connecting the video signal from the DVD to the TV and / or VCR.
TV - Connect to TV (Most TVs have this type of connections. If your TV has Component Video or
SWideo, you will get a better picture by using them instead).
REC - Connect to VCR or other recording device (Most DVDs cannot be recorded, however you can use
this connection to record from the auxilliary inputs, e.g. satellite receiver, as well).
8. Video Inputs
For connecting video signals from the corresponding video out jacks on the auxilliary items, e.g. VCR or
satellite recsiven These connections are labeled AUX1 and AUX2 and are selected by the AUX1 and
AUX2 buttons on the front panel.
9. Surround Speaker (Rear Speakers)
Connect the left surround speaker to "S1" terminals and right surround speaker to "SR" terminals.
Connect the colored wire to "+" and black wire to "-". (8 Ohm recommended).
10. Front Speaker
Connect the left front speaker to "1" terminals, right front speaker to "R" terminals and center speaker
co "C" terminals. Connect the colored wire to "+" and black wire to "-". (8 Ohm recommended),

After completing all the connections, connect the AC power cord of the player and subwoofer to the wall
outlet. To switch on the subwoofer, rotate the VOLUME knob at the front panel of subwoofer clockwise
until you hear a click.

Subwoofer Input Jack
Connect to the subwoofer jack on the DVD.
Player using the supplied sable.

Use PHASE SELECTOR located at the rear
of the subwoofer to select the phase
polarity. Selecting the polarity at either O_
Phase 180 ° may determine better bass
reproduction effect in certain listening
environments (depending on the type of front
speakers and the position of the subwoofer).
It also may change the expanse and
tightness of the sound, and affect the feeling
of the sound field. Select the setting that
provides the sound you prefer when you ere
in your normal listening position.
3. Power Cord
Ffyou want to connect your T_, VCR, or CD Recorder to the system, the following diagrams are used to show
the setup and installation.

Before Connectinq
Refer also to the instruction manual of the speakers.
This OVD Receiver is designed to reproduce optimum sound quality when the supplied speakers are used. If
you wish to csnnect other speakers to the system instead of the supplied speakers, they should be 8 ohms
impedance with a minimum power handling of 30 watts each.
Maintain correct polarity when connecting speakers (colored wire for pesitive and black wire for negative).
Toprevent damage to circuits, never short-circuit the positive and negative speaker output terminals.

Press the button down & put the wire in, then release the button.
Speaker Placement
Placement of speakers play an important role in the reproduction of surround sound. Particular attention
should be taken when designing the speaker layout. For the best surround effects, all speakers should be
installed.
Rear s_almr RmL* speaker
A typical room layout will have the left, center, and right speakers across the front and the left surround and
right surround speakers along the sides towards the rear as shown in the above left picture. The center
speaker can be above or below the video screen or TV. A subwoofer with built-in power amplifier can be
installed far powerful bass sounds and can be positioned anywhere in the room.
The 'speaker to listener dimensions' shown in the above right picture is used for proper setup of the surround
systam (see speaker distance setu_ above).
Nots:
- Do not connect more than one speaker to any one pair of +/- speaker terminals.
Do not connect speakers with an impedance lower than the speakers supplied.
Switch on for the first time
- You have connected up the Home Theater System as shown in the preceeding pages.
Connect Power to the OVD Player and the subwoofe_
- The DVD Player should have the Standby Light illuminated and the panel display should show "AM 12:04".
This is the default time.
Press the Power on key (either on the panel or the remote control).
- The OVD Player will switch on in DVD mode. After a few seconds the panel will show "NO DISC".
Switch on your TV and select the AV input that the DVD Player is connected to. You should see the DVD
Screen and a message "NO VALID DISC".
Press this open key (on the panel or the remote control).
The drawer will open. Place a DVD in the drawer, and press close (same as open). The player will read the
disc and start playing it. Before the movie starts to play, a menu will be shown. You will need to select
'PLAY MOVIE' and press [OK] before the movie will start.
- Although you can watch a movie immediatl_ To get the best results from your Home Theater, you should now
press 'STOP' and proceed to do the system setup options on the next page. This will setup all the
functions on your theeten You only need to do this when you first install your Home Theate_
If you choose to watch the movie you can find out about DVD options and navigation of the OVD disc in the
section begining on page GB21.
SpeakeP setup
Your system is given a standard setup before it leaves the factory. You will find that this will work very well in
the average room, and you can use the system without changing the speaker setup, however you may wish to
fully optimize your system for the room that you usa it in.
To access the speaker setup menu;
1. Ensure that there is no disc in the tray
2. Select DVD mode
3. Press the MENU key
4. Select 'Audio set' from the menu. The following menu will be displayed an the Tq
Use _/_Hlkeys to select the setup item you require (Size, Distance, Level). Then press EOK]and you will
enter the 'Room Map'.
Once inside the Room, move between different speakers with the II / keys. Toselect a speaker for
adjustment, press [OK].
Once you have selected the speaker, adjust the setting using the _/_ keys. Todeselect the speaker
press [OK] or Exit.
To lesve the Room press (OK] or Exit.
Now you can select a different setting (using _1_/_ keys) and press [oK] to re-enter the Room.
Size
You can adjust the audio signal to suit different sizes of loudspeaker The unit is preset correctly for the
supplied speakers. When a large speaker is shown it means that the signal is suitable for a large speaker
When no speaker is shown the signal far that channel is mixed into other channels•
For the speakers supplied the correct settings are small speakers and the subwoofar present•
Distance
Adjust the distance under each speaker, to equal the distance from the listening position to th e speaker This
will ensure that the sound from each speaker arrives at the same time.
Thisallowsthelevelofeachspeakerto beadjustedindividualysothat theyallsoundto havethesame
loudness.Abustof'pink'noisewillissuefromeachspeakerinturn. Usethe_1_/_keys to setthelevelof
eachspeakerinturn.Thenormalsettingforthesuppliedspeakersandsubwoofer,iswithallsetto +10dB.

Thisisthe'DynamicRange Control'. DVDs can have a much greater dynamic range than other media. That is
to say that the difference between quite sounds and a loud sound is much greater If you find that your chosen
setting for loud passages is too low for quite passages and you are constantly having to adjust to volume
control, you should set the DRC to 'Nighttime' or 'Moon'. To get the greatest dynamic range, set DRC to
'Daytime' or 'Sun'. The normal setting of DRC as supplied is 'Nighttime'.
Exit
Select this and press (OK] when you have finished with this menu.
