3. Operating the MGLS
The purpose of the MGLS is to monitor:
Exits from the premises
Entry to the premises
Removal of food from the refrigerator
Intrusions via the opening and closure of Windows
The smart magnetic sensor is responsible for detection and wireless communication with the CP.
The single, bi-color LED on the front of the device lights up when there is an open or close event. You
can configure an MGLS device parameter to disable the LED, if the LED indication is not required.
The MGLS devices in the Care@Home
kit are intended for:
The main entrance door: to monitor access to the premises
The refrigerator door: to monitor the Resident’s dining routine
When the MGLS is operational and a break in the contact with the magnet is detected, the smart
magnetic sensor sends an event to the CP and the CP notifies the monitoring station. For example, the
MGLS sends an alert event to the CP, if a window or door is left open for an extended amount of time.
The CP, in turn, forwards the alert event to the monitoring Station.
You can configure the MGLS device parameters using the Care@Home
CMS software application.
Refer to the Care@Home
CMS User Guide for the version of Care@Home
system installed on your
resident’s premises.

3.3. Supervision
The MGLS is a supervised device. The MGLS periodically transmits its status, via an “I’m alive” message,
to the CP. The frequency of the reporting periods can be configured locally or remotely.
If after a pre-defined time the CP does not receive the “I’m alive” message, the CP sends a “no
communication” report to the Monitoring Station.
