Operation
AirVelocityandAirVolumeMeasurements
1. SwitchthemeterONbypressingthePOWER buttonmomentarily.PressthePOWER
buttonagaintoswitchthemeterOFF.
2. Notethatthemeterwillautomaticallyenterthesleepmodeafter20minutesofinactivity.
Todisablethisfeature:withthemeterOFF,pressandholdthePOWERandtheU/mode
buttonsfor2seconds.TheLCDwilldisplay'n'asitswitchesON.Nowthesleepmodeis
disabledandtheusermustpressthePOWERbuttonmomentarilytoswitchthemeterOFF.
3. WhenthemeterisON,theupperdisplaycanindicate
airvelocityorrelativehumidity(usetheU/modebutton
totoggle).The
lowerdisplaydigitscanindicateairflow,
dewpointtemperature,wetbulbtemperature,orair
temperature(usetheL/modebuttontoscroll).
4. Placethesensorintheairstream.Theairmustenter
thevanefromtherearofthemeter.TheAir
TemperatureandRelativehumiditysensorsare
locatedatthecenterofthevaneontherear
ofthemeter.
5. ReadthemeasurementdataontheLCD.Airvelocityreadingsareindicatedinmetersper
second(m/s)orfeetperminute(fpm).Temperaturereadings(air,dewpoint,orwetbulb)
areindicatedin°C/°F.RelativeHumidityis
indicatedin%.Airflow(volume)isindicatedin
CFM(cubicfeetperminute)orCMM(cubicmetersperminute).UsetheL/modebutton(for
lowerdisplay)andtheU/modebutton(forupperdisplay)toscrollthroughthedisplayed
readingoptions.
6. TochangebetweenImperialandMetricunitsof
measurerefertotheSETUPModesection.
7. TomeasuretheAirVolumeofaduct,firstmeasuretheduct’sarea(seetheAppendixfor
areacalculations)andthenentertheareavalueinthemeter’sSETUPmodeinin

Aftertheareavaluehasbeenentered,usetheL/modebuttontoscrolltotheairvolume
display(CMM/CFM)onthelowerdigits.Placethemeterinairstreamtomeasurevolume.
8. Optional:measureAirVolumewithanairflowConeorSquareadaptorbyfirstattachingone
ofthe
adaptorstothemeter(theoptionalconeadaptorkitincludesaroundandasquare
cone;kitpartnumberAN300C).Themeterwillautomaticallyrecognizethattheadaptoris
attachedtothemeterandaconeiconwillappearonthe display.
Note:regardlessoftheAREAsettingin
theSETUPmode,themeterwilldefaulttothe
dimensionsofthevaneopening.Ensurethattheairflowadaptoriswellmountedandlocked
beforetakingmeasurements.
LCDbacklight
PresstheU/modebuttontoswitchONtheLCDbacklight.Thebacklightwillautomaticallyswitch
OFFafterapproximately10secondstoconservebatterypower.Notethatthebacklighting
switchesONautomaticallywhenthemeterisswitchedONbytheuser.

RelativeHumidity,WetBulb,andDewPointMeasurements
Therelativehumiditysensorisbuiltintothecenterofthevane(rearofmeter)andcanbeusedto
measurerelativehumidity,dewpointandwetbulbtemperatures.
1. PressU/modetoswitchtothe%RHdisplayifne cessary.Themeasuredhumidityreadings
willbedisplayedontheupper
LCDdigits.
2. UsetheL/modebuttontoscrollthroughairtemperature,dewpointtemperature,wetbulb
temperature,andairvolumereadings.
3. Tomeasurethehumidityusinganoffsetreferencevalue,pleaseaccesstheSetupmodeand
inputtheoffsetvalueasdescribedintheSetupmodesection.The
LCDwilldisplaythe
measuredvalueminustheoffsetvalueoncetheoffsetisprogrammedintheSetupmode.
DataHoldMode
1. PresstheHOLDbuttonfromthenormaloperatingmodetofreezethecurrentmeasurement.
2. The‘HOLD’iconwillappearatthetopoftheLCDdisplay.
3. PressHOLDagaintoreturntonormaloperation.The‘HOLD’iconwillswitchOFFandthe
meterwillreturntodisplayingreadings
inrealtime.
MAX/MINMode
TheMAXMINfeaturerecordsthehighest(MAX)andlowest(MIN)readingscapturedsincethe
MAXMINmodewasaccessed.
1. PressandholdtheMAX/MINbuttonfor2secondstobegindisplayingthelowest(minimum)
readingsencounteredsincethismodewasaccessed.The‘MIN’iconwillappearatthetopof
theLCDdisplayindicatingthatthereadingsshownarethelowestmeasured.
2. PressandholdtheMAX/MINbuttonagainfor2secondstodisplaythemaximumreadings
encountered.The‘MAX’iconwillappearontheLCD.
3. Pressandholdthisbuttonagainfor2secondstoreturn
tothenormalmodeofoperation
(the‘MIN’and‘MAX’iconsshouldswitchOFF).
4. WhileviewingtheMAXorMINdata,usetheL/modebuttontoswitchthedisplaysothatthe
AirVolumeMINandMAXreadingscanbeviewedalso.
5. PressandholdMAX/MINfor2seconds
toreturntothenormaloperationmode.
MultiPointAverageMode
1. FromthenormaloperatingmodepresstheU/modebuttonfor2secondstoenterMulti
PointAveragemode(theAVGdisplayiconandtheassociatedblackdotwillswitchON).
2. PresstheHOLDbuttonmomentarilytorecordonereading.Theupperdisplaydigitswill
showthereading’smemory
locationnumberandthelowerdisplaywillshowthemeasured
value.PresstheHOLDbuttonagaintotakeandstoreanotherreading;thememorylocation
numberwillincrementbyoneandthecurrentreadingwillbestoredinthisnewmemory
location.Themetercanstoreupto19,999pointsinmemory.
3. PressU/modemomentarilytoseethemultipointmean(average)forallofthereadings
recordedduringthesession(the'•AVG'displayiconwillflashduringthisprocess).
4. PressL/modetoviewtheaveragereadingfortheotheravailableparameters.

BatteryReplacement
WhenappearsontheLCD,theAAAbatteriesmustbereplaced.Thebatterycoverislocated
onthebackofthemeter.
1. Opentherearbatterycompartmentbycarefullypullingdownonthecompartment’slatch.
2. Thebatterycompartmentcovershouldbecompletelyremovedbeforeproceeding.
3. Replacethe
four(4)1.5V‘AAA’batteriesensuringproperpolarity.
4. Closethebatterycompartmentbeforeattemptingtousethemeter.
Neverdisposeofusedbatteriesorrechargeablebatteriesinhouseholdwaste.
Asconsumers,usersarelegallyrequiredtotakeusedbatteriestoappropriate
collectionsites,theretailstorewhere thebatteries
werepurchased,orwherever
batteriesaresold.
