REPLACEMENT HEAT EXCHANGER FOR MODELS RDCA AND RDDA
GASKET KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Supersedes: CP-MAPS II-RHXG (11-06) Version A
Replacement heat exchangers require new gaskets. To prevent damage during shipping or storage, gaskets for
replacement heat exchangers are shipped in a parts bag for field installation.

• The replacement heat exchanger should be installed by a qualified service agency in compliance
with all codes and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.
• Improper installation could result in death, serious injury, and /or property damage. The qualified
agency performing this work assumes responsibility for this installation.
COMPONENT SELECTION
Gas heat section sizes 100–400 have one heat exchanger. Gas heat section sizes 450–700 have two heat exchangers.
Refer to the components listed in the table below to select the right gasket kit for the heat exchanger.
NOTE: Each gasket kit listed in the table below is for one heat exchanger.

INSTALLATION

Proper installation and sealing of the heat exchanger to the unit is necessary for reliable and safe
operation. Failure to properly install could result in property damage, personal injury, and/or death.
⚠ CAUTION ⚠
Verify that the gasket kit is the right one for the heat exchanger.

Flue Collection Box Gaskets - Use the new gaskets from the kit when attaching the flue
collection box to the replacement heat exchanger.
Heat Section Sizes 100-300
(Cabinet Sizes A and B) - Each side
and the top and bottom gasket are
separate pieces. Be sure all surface is
covered.

Size C) - Install new
one-piece gasket when
attaching the flue
collection box.
Header Gaskets - Header
gaskets are self-adhesive and
cut to size.
First) Determine the position
of each gasket as illustrated.
Line up with the holes in the
header panel. (NOTE: If
servicing a Size 300, the top
and bottom header gaskets are
two pieces each.)
Second) To apply, start at the
end and gradually peel the
backing from the gasket as it is
adhered. Repeat with each
strip. The header panel gaskets
are sealing gaskets and must
cover the full length of the
surface.

ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE CHECKS
⚠ CAUTION ⚠
Check all safety features for proper operation.
• Refer to the Gas Heat Section Maintenance instructions in the system operation/maintenance/service manual,
Form O-MAPS II (PN 209179).
• As part of the replacement heat exchanger installation, inspect and clean the cabinet, burner, and venter. Replace
any components that are not structurally sound.
• When installation of the replacement heat exchanger is complete, review the Check Installation and Startup Section
of the installation manual, Form I-MAPS II (PN 206131).
