The IR80 is a device that accepts an infrared signal from a B&K keypad or an external control receiver and sends
the received signal out eight 3.5mm mono outputs simultaneously. This device may also be slaved to another
IR80, which will provide another eight infrared outputs. The IR80 is typically used to provide multiple infrared
outputs to control preamplifiers, receivers and source pieces within a single installation.
1. Dual Box and Decora Chassis Configuration - The IR80 is shipped default as a floor box design (F) for use
on a shelf, mounting behind a rack or even next to the source. The IR80 may be configured for use in a decora
wall plate by removing the screws of the chassis and extracting the decora module assembly.
2. Input— RJ45 CAT-5 input from a CK 1.1 keypad, CK 1.2 keypad or other IR80 module. The conversion
module uses this input as the source of IR to be sent to the 8 IR Outputs. Maximum length of CAT-5 run should
be no longer than 500 feet total when powering the IR80 and/or keypad from the CT Receiver or 1,000 feet total
when powering the IR80 and/or keypad with an external power source.
3. Pass-Thru—RJ45 CAT-5 pass through that will send the Input signal (see 2.) to another IR80 distribution
module, CK 1.2 keypad or CK 1.1 keypad.
4. Phoenix Input—Three-position phoenix adaptor for an +12VDC, DATA IN and ground. When external
power is needed the ground and +12VDC would be connected to power the IR80.
5. Eight Flasher Outputs—Eight flasher outputs are available for sending IR information to source pieces,
preamplifiers, receivers, etc. All eight flashers would send infrared information simultaneously from the RJ45
CAT-5 input or the IN on the 3-position phoenix adapter.

sion module uses this input as the source of IR to be sent to the eight 3.5mm IR Outputs.
Maximum length of CAT-5 run should be no longer than 1,000 feet. When using with another
IR80 module, CK 1.2 or CK 1.1 keypad the total length of run for all devices can be no longer
than 1,000 feet.
Pass-Thru
RJ45 CAT-5 pass through that will send the Input signal (see above) to another IR80 distribu-
tion module, CK 1.2 keypad or CK 1.1 keypad.

CAT5 Audio/Video Drive Pinout
CAT-5 RJ45 pinouts use the T568B
standard. See the figure at left. Pins 1
and 3 send power for up to 500 feet.
Use of other CAT-5 connection stan-
dards may result in increased signal
degradation.
The IR 80 has a maximum length of CAT-5 that should be no longer than 500 feet total when powering the
IR80 and/or keypad from the CT Receiver or 1,000 feet total when powering the IR80 and/or keypad with
an external power supply.

The IR80 module accepts an infrared signal from a B&K Keypad and sends a received signal out to eight 3.5mm
mono outputs simultaneously (note: identical sources with the same IR identification code can not be controlled
independently). Shown below is an IR80 connected to the Zone Control I/O on a CT Receiver. Then the CK 1.2
keypad is connected to the pass-thru input on the IR80 module. This allows for keypad to control the local
sources through the IR80 module, while still allowing for a pass through to the CT Receiver.
