Rear Panel Decora and Box Configuration Summary
CAT-5 cable allows differential video runs of up to 1000 feet. The HD6 CAT-5 video drive allows direct con-
nection to RCV30 modules for use in converting the video signal back to RCA. The RCV30 allows both decora
wall plate and stand alone box configuration. The diagram below shows the HD6 connected CAT-5 termination
with RCV30 CAT-5 to RCA local decora video conversion modules in zone A.
The RCV30 is a video conversion module for use with converting differential analog video pairs sent through a
CAT-5 cable back to RCA connections. For use with our B&K HD6 high definition video switcher, the video con-
version module has the capability to be powered directly through the CAT-5 cable up to 500 feet. When not used
with the B&K HD6, a TCV31 module is required to convert the standard RCA-type component video signal to a
differential drive component video signal. When in use with a TCV31, power can be transmitted to the RCV30 for
up to 500 feet total. When in use with over 500 feet a 12VDC power source is needed (supplied).
1. Dual Box and Decora Chassis Configuration - The RCV30 is shipped default as a floor box design (F) for use
on a shelf, mounting behind a rack or even to the back of the video monitor. The RCV30 may be configured for use
in a decora wall plate by removing the screws of the chassis and extracting the decora module assembly.
2. Master Input - RJ45 CAT-5 video input. The conversion module uses this input as the source of video that is to
be converted back to RCA. The master input is used to source the buffered Slave Video Output.
3. Slave Output - RJ45 CAT-5 video output. Additional modules may be slaved together with the slave output from
the first device must connect to the next conversion module’s Master Input. When using this configuration, ALL
RCV30 modules require external power.
4. 12V DC Input— Connect to an external DC power source (adapter included) when in use with the SLAVE
OUTPUT feature or for use with greater than 500 ft of CAT-5.
5. Equalization Control - Adjustable Video EQ control. This control is used to adjust / match the total installed
length of CAT-5 cable, 0 - 1000 feet, connected to the Master Input.
6. Gold Plated RCA Connectors - Simple minimum signal loss and degradation.
Master Video Input
The conversion module uses this RJ45 as the video input for conversion back to RCA. In addition,
when there is a source of 12 VDC applied to the front panel, the master input is used to source the
buffered slave output.
Slave Video Output
The RCV30 module provides a RJ45 slave output to connect additional monitors displaying identical
video. Simply connect the slave output of one module to the master input of the next. Any number of
monitors may be connected in this manner, so long as the total cable run from the HD6 or TCV31 to
the last monitor does not exceed 1000 feet. When using the
slave monitor capability, ALL RCV30’s must each be individu-
ally powered. The slave output is not active when the module is
powered over CAT-5 from the HD6 nor does the slave output
provide power for the next module.
Front Panel Decora and Box Summary
RCA Output
Connect the Red, Blue and Green RCAs to the video monitor’s component video input (Y, Pr, Pb).
12 VDC IN
Connect to an external DC power source. It is for use with the SLAVE OUTPUT feature or when in
use with more than 500 feet from an HD6 or TCV31 module.
Video EQ
This control is used to adjust / match the total installed length of CAT-5 cable. The control allows
adjustment from 0 to 1000 feet.
CAT-5 Video Drive Pinout
CAT-5 RJ45 pinouts use the T568B standard.
See the figure at left. Each color twisted pair
carries the differential video signal to the
corresponding video output. For use with
CAT-5 cable up to 500 feet, Pin 7 and 8 will
directly power B&K RCV30 modules up to
500 feet without the need for an external power
supply. Use of other CAT-5 connection stan-
dards may result in increased crosstalk be-
tween Y, Pr, Pb signals with associated video
degradation. Note: DC power on Pin 7 and 8 is
intended only for use with a TCV31 or HD6.
CAT-5 cable allows differential video runs of up to 1000 feet. The TCV31, which coverts signals from RCA to
RJ45, allows direct connection to RCV30 modules for use in converting the video signal back to RCA. The
RCV30 allows both decora wall plate and stand alone box configuration. The diagram below shows the TCV31
connected from RCA to CAT-5 termination with the RCV30 from CAT-5 to RCA video conversion modules to a
component video monitor.
The RCV30 can be used for up to 1000 feet total in use with the HD6 or TCV31. The RCV30 can be powered for
up to 500 feet when in use with an HD6 or TCV31 module. When in use with over 500 feet or when using the
Slave Output feature on the RCV31, an external power supply is needed.
