SECTION 1 SOFTWARE OVERVIEW
Insight Reporter is a database reporting solution which provides off-the-shelf and custom reporting options for welding
enterprise information generated from Insight Centerpointt and AxcesstE with Insight enabled power supplies. This
manual will walk the user through the installation procedure as well as simple use instructions necessary to pull and
display weld enterprise information.
1-1. Insight Reporter Application
Insight Reporter consists of two components:
S Database Component - The database component consists of an SQL 2008 R2 Express Server that can be ac-
cessed by one or more machines. If your organization already owns and deploys an SQL server, the MILLER
database can be installed there which will provide for more concurrent users and database administrative
capabilities.
S Reporter Component - The Insight Reporter component is required for each user machine that requires access
to information, charts, and reports available within the database component.

1-2. Application Requirements
To collect information into the Insight Reporter database and generate useful charts and reports, a user must have the
following hardware and software in place and properly configured.
S Insight Centerpoint software.
S SQL Server (or SQL Server Express).
S MILLER Database installed on PC running SQL Server.
S Insight Reporter installed on User’s PC.
1-3. Database Component Installation Requirements
To install the Insight Reporter Database Component, the following requirements must be in place.
S Must be logged in as Administrator level user.
S NET Framework 3.5.1 (installation USB has installation packages for the user’s convenience).
S Windows Installer 4.5 (installation USB has installation packages for the user’s convenience).
1-4. Insight Reporter Installation Requirements
To install and configure a licensed copy of Insight Reporter on a PC, the following requirements must be in place.
S Must be logged in as Administrator level user. (Remain logged in as administrator until Database configuration
has been completed. An ODBC connection must be established, and is written to the HKLM which requires Admin-
istrative privileges.)
S NET Framework 2.0 (most computers meet this requirement as it is packaged with XP SP2 and beyond).

2-1. Installing Database Component
Installing SQL Server And Database
An SQL Server is required to hold the data for Insight Reporter. If an SQL Server is not already available or if a local
copy of the SQL Server is desired, use these instructions. If your organization already manages an SQL Server, then
have your database administrator skip to the next section.
A. Insert the Insight Database USB.
B. Go to the USB drive, and run the file reporter_sql_v9.1.500.0_install.exe.
C. After the application finishes the EULA is displayed. Click Accept.

D. The SQL Server 2008 installation requires Windows Installer v4.5 and the server application requires .NET
Framework 3.5.1. The setup.exe application will check the system for those prerequisites and install them if they
are missing.
E. The SQL Server is an automated installer that is configured to create a named instance of SQL Server. The name
of the SQL named instance is MILLER. Click Next.
F. Most users install the database in the default location. To install the database in different location, browse to that
location and click Next.

G. Click Next to confirm the installation.
H. The progress bar indicates the status of the installation.
I. The Setup Wizard will alert the user when the software has been successfully installed. Click Close to finish the
SQL server installation.

2-2. Installing Insight Reporter
A. Insert the Insight Reporter USB.
B. If autorun.inf is blocked, go to the USB and run the file reporter_v9.1.500._install.exe.
C. Setup.exe will check the system and prompt the user to install any prerequisite software prior to installing Insight
Reporter.
D. After any required prerequisites were identified and installed, the Insight Reporter installation will begin.
Click Next.

E. Select Installation Folder. Use the default program directory if desired, or select another program directory. Select
Everyone to make the program available to all users of the select system, or select Just me. Click Next to
proceed.
F. Confirm Installation. Click Next to begin the installation process.

G. The progress bar indicates the status of the installation.
H. The Setup Wizard will alert the user when the software has been successfully installed. Click Close to finish the
installation.

2-3. Insight Reporter Database Configuration
The database component can be installed from the Tools Menu within Insight Reporter.
A. Launch Insight Reporter. To launch Insight Reporter, select Start > All Programs > Miller > Insight Reporter
menu or double-click the icon created on the desktop.
B. Under Tools, select > Setup Wizard.
C. A dialog appears indicating the Tools dialog is loading. Please wait.

D. If the Insight Reporter database has been successfully installed on the machine, the Setup Wizard displays the
image shown below.
E. If the SQL Server and Miller Database have been installed on another machine, perform the following steps:
1. Clear the Use this computer option.
2. On the Select an existing SQL Server menu, select SQL Server. If the SQL Server was installed via the Re-
porter SQL Database Install media, the name of the existing SQL server will be [pc hostname]\MILLER. After
a selection is made, the Setup Wizard will reattempt to verify the existence of the Miller database on the selected
SQL Server.

F. When a successful connection has been made the Setup Wizard displays the image below.
G. At this point, Insight Reporter has been configured to communicate with the Reporter Database. Administrative
privileges are no longer necessary.
2-4. Configuring Centerpoint To Push Data To Database
Each running instance of Insight Centerpoint must be configured to send its data to the now installed database. The
following steps necessary to point Centerpoint to the Reporter Database location. When successfully connected, all
appropriate data acquired at Centerpoint will be automatically pushed to the SQL database in real-time.
A. Prerequisite: On the machine that Centerpoint is running, the SQL Native Client must be installed. To install, go to
the Tools folder within the Startup Menu. Go to Start > All Programs > Miller > Centerpoint > Tools > SQL >
and launch the Install SQL Native Client link. If the SQL Native Client is already installed, the installation will stop
and the user can proceed to the next step.
. Be sure to select the correct installer for your system (32 bit or 64 bit).

B. Launch Centerpoint.
C. Go to File > Database Functions > Open Database.
D. Select the Machine Data Source option.
E. If MILLER is not found in the list of Data Source names, click the New 0 button.
1. From the Create New Data Source wizard, select the System Data Source option. Click Next.

2. Select SQL Server Native Client 10.0 from the list. Click Next.
3. Click Finish.
4. Name: MILLER
Server: Select server from the dropdown list. Click Next.

5. Select With SQL Authentication... option
Leave Connect to SQL Server... option checked.
Login ID: Reporter
Login Password: axcesse
Click Next.
6. No changes are required on this screen.

7. Click Finish.
8. Click Test Data Source.

9. If installation is successful, the TEST COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY message is displayed.
10. Click OK two times to complete New DSN.

F. Select MILLER from Machine Data Source list. Click OK.
