Functions
This section describes the functions of the product.
Functions
PWD-25AWD5 Reference Manual
17
1. Function Description
1. The Range of the Input Voltage
If the input voltage varies, it might excess the accuracy of the voltage regulator.
Contact your retailer for details.
This product is capable of coping with instant input voltage dip. (Derating is required.)
- Output range up to : 10W
- Input : 50VAC or 70VDC
- Duty : 1s/30s
* Never operate for more than a second or longer, or the product can de damaged.
-Usable between 85 and 264VAC.
The approval of safety standards is “100 - 240VAC (50/60Hz)” for the rated input voltage range.
If input value doesn’t fall within above range, a product may not operate in accordance with
specifications and/or start humming, the operate protection circuit or fail.
If you need to apply a square waveform input voltage, which is commonly used in UPS and inverters,
please contact your retailer.
2. Inrush Currents
This product contains rush current suppression circuit.
If you are to use a switch, make sure it withstands inrush currents.
As a power thermistor is used for inrush current suppression, be sure the product is cool enough
when restarting input soon after turning on the power.
3. Output Voltage Adjustment Range
To increase an output voltage, turn a built-in potentiometer clockwise.
To decrease the output voltage, turn it counterclockwise.

4. Dielectric Resistance - Isolation Reduction
When testing a voltage resistance for such as acceptance inspections, increase the volume gradually.
When blocking the power, use a dial to decrease gradually as well. Refrain from conducting a
withstand voltage test with a timer since it may drive the excessive apply voltage when the timer
operates.
5. Derating
Derating by input voltage
The figure below shows derating curve by input voltage.
Derating by operating ambient temperature
The operative ambient temperature varies depending on the input voltage or the heat dissipation
surroundings. Refer to the derating curve shown below.
In the hatched area, the specification of Ripple, Ripple Noise is different from other area.
