Electrical connections
Electrical connections must made by trained electricians in accordance with the guidelines and standards for low-voltage
installations and the specifications of the local electricity supply companies.
A plug-in appliance may only be connected to a socket outlet with earthing contact, installed according to specifications. An
all-pole mains isolating device with 3 mm contact opening should be provided in the house wiring system. Switches, plug and
socket devices, circuit breakers and fusible cut-outs which are accessible after installation and which have all-poles switching
are permissible as isolating devices. Effective earthing and separately installed neutral and earth conductors ensure safe and
fault-free operation. After installation, live parts and cables with basic insulation must not be accessible. Old installations should
always be checked.

Error message U400
Indications
The worktop must be flat.
Width of material between cut-outs for adjacent hobs in stone worktops:
The material width is determined by the producer of the stone worktop. The minimum material width of 40–60 mm can vary according
to the property of the stone, or it can be reinforced below.
Installing
1. Create the installation cut-out accurately.
The mounting surface can be recessed by installing wood or stone bars or produced using the steel angle set (see «Accessories»).
2. Prepare the cut-out and the appliance according to the instructions in the "cementing-in" section.
3. Carefully cement the appliance in place and allow the silicon cement joints to dry for at least 24 hours.
4. Where necessary establish the mains supply connection before inserting the appliance.
Incorrect connection:
A pole conductor was connected to the connecting terminal for neutral conductors.
Quickly disconnect the appliance from the mains!
Installation
Access to the appliance from below must be guaranteed over the entire cut-out surface. For servicing, the induction
generator with the mounting plate can be removed from below. The covers to prevent accidental contact with live parts
must be removable by unscrewing.

Cement set 86.3928.85 (not supplied)
Suitable for all absorbent worktop materials (wood and natural stones such as marble, granite).
The set comprises:
For the remaining, resp. for non-absorbent worktop materials and artificial stone surfaces, the special primer type 107 *, article no.
45.2771.76 must be used. Not suitable for polyethylene, polypropylene or Teflon.
* Primer types: Firm name H. OTTO GmbH u. Co., Chemie GK, D-83413 Fridolfing
Good adhesion cannot be obtained on slate or other materials containing oil. The use of such worktop materials is not advised for the
flush installation of glass ceramic hobs.
Sealing strip set H6.2138 (supplied)
The set comprises:
Steel angle set (not supplied), see Accessories
When using the steel angle set, the cut-out and the corner radius can be cut smoothly over the entire worktop thickness, without bearing
protrusion. The correct position of the sides of the angle mounting with reference to the worktop is set with the 2 spacer gauges supplied.
Procedure
1. Thoroughly clean and degrease the cut surface of the stone.
2. Sparingly coat the bonding surface on the stone side with quick adhesive (see Accessories) (Fig. 1).
3. Thoroughly clean and degrease the bonding surface of the steel angle.
4. Apply activator to the first steel angle so that the activator and the stone surface with adhesive applied come into contact.
5. Place the two spacer gauges on the first angle mounting (Fig. 1).
6. Place the spacer gauges on the worktop surface, position the angle mounting centrally on the cut edge of the stone (Fig. 3) and
apply pressure (Fig. 2).
The adhesive is sufficiently hardened after approx. 1 minute.
7. Remove both spacer gauges and keep them for future use.
8. Bond the other 3 angle mountings using the same procedure.

1. Make sure the cut-out is clean, free of dust and any other dirt.
2. Coat 1–2× liberally with special primer (see «Accessories») (Fig. 4) and leave exposed to the air for at least 30 minutes. Wait for
the primer to completely dry.
The surface of the cut-out will be protected by the primer against the ingress of moisture (sealed), enhancing the adhesive
properties of the adhesive.
1. Clean any grease or dirt from the edges of the hob with ethyl alcohol (fuel alcohol), isopropyl alcohol, trichlorethylene or type T
cleaning agent. Do not use water with washing-up liquid!
2. Leave to dry for a short time.
3. Stick the self-adhesive sealing strip (5 mm × 8 mm) supplied with the hob to the cleaned edge mounting surface (Fig. 5).
4. In corner areas, cement 2 «hard» sealing strip pieces each, and in centre areas 1 «hard» sealing strip piece each, over the sealing
strip.
Preparing the cut-out
Lack of care in the preliminary work can result in the ingress of liquid which will lead to the swelling of the wood and hence the
destruction of the cover.
If inappropriate pre-processing agents and adhesives are use for special cover materials, these materials may possibly show
colour changes along the cemented joint and sealing joint.

5. Place the hob carefully in the prepared cut-out and align it so that the sealing gap is uniform all around.
6. Press the hob, especially in the corners, so that the hob surface is level with the work surface.
7. Press the silicon adhesive into the sealing gap, avoid air bubbles and draw a somewhat raised bead.
8. Spray the silicon bead with soap solution (water and washing-up liquid).
9. Using a hard rubber or plastic spatula which has also been previously dipped into the soapy solution, spread the silicon bead so it is
flush. Regularly clean and immerse the spatula in the soapy solution.
10.Clean off all silicon residues from the glass surface and the worktop. As appropriate, the edges of the cut-out and the glass ceramic
hob plate can be covered with wide masking tape before commencing the sealing work, so that only the sealing gap is exposed.
The silicon bead can also be smoothed more finely using the thumb liberally lubricated with soap solution.
Do not press against the edge of the glass with tools!
If level compensation cannot be obtained straightaway, the length of the sealing strip pieces must be shortened
accordingly.
The silicon adhesive requires a curing time (waiting time) of at least 24 to achieve the final strength and elasticity. During this
time the hob is not to be placed in operation nor subjected to any form of mechanical stress. For this reason (impermissible
mechanical stress), the final cleaning of the hob is only to take place after the expiry of this waiting time. Cover the hob with
cardboard or similar to prevent dust and dirt from settling during the drying phase.
