ViaSat SurfBeam

The ViaSat SurfBeam is a satellite modem that allows you to connect to the internet via satellite. It is a high-speed, broadband internet connection that is available in areas where traditional cable or DSL internet is not available.

1.Plug thein-linepower supplyintothe SurfBeam SM, andthen into the power
source.
2. ACrequirements are:115 or 220 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
1. Attach the base to the SM,and locate it nearyour computer.
2. Keep it away from heat,liquid, and magneticinterference.

STEP 4
1.Connect one end of the Ethernetcableto theSurfBeamSM and the other to the
Network Interface Card in your computer.
2. Connect and hand-tighten the TX and RXcables fromthe outdoor unit (ODD)
to the SurfBeam SM.
Watch the SurfBeamSM frontpanelindicators.The RX indicatorshould flashwhile
acquiring the satellite signal.When the RX indicator goes on steady,the SM is
registered.
Note:You must configure your computer to obtain an
IP
address from theDHCP server.
Refer to your computer's operating system (0/8)documentation for instructions.

1.Make sure you have satellite service. (The RXindicator should be on steady).
2.Make sure you have the Ethernet connection. (The LANindicator should be
on).
3. Make sure your are transmitting to the satellite. (The TXindicator should flash
when transmitting).
4. Make sure all the connectionsare correct and tight.
5.Try resetting the SM and in-line power supply (Disconnect the in-line power
supply from the power source, wait AT LEAST one minute, and then reconnect
power). The SM should go through acquisition and registration process again
(STEP 4).
