TRAINING GUIDE: MODEL 9046 DVD OPTION

DESCRIPTION

The Model 9046 is to be installed in D2424 secondary drive to archive data from the primary

drive. A DVD-RAM disk can archive 4.7GB of data on each side for a total storage capacity of 9.4GB.

Recorded audio data on the primary hard drive can also be exported to / imported from the DVD-

RAM as .WAV file when the DVD-RAM disk is formatted to FAT16 format on a Windows PC.

*Please note in the case of .WAV export, DVD-RAM disk is recognized as 2GB

regardless of the actual capacity because of the specification of FAT16.

With the 9046 installed, the D2424 can handle both recording and archiving inside the unit so that

the customers do not have to be bothered with the external SCSI devices and cables for backup. The

media cost of DVD-RAM is another advantage over external SCSI options. Once the

drive is fitted, the cost of DVD-RAM is less than $10 per GB.

The drive should be installed by Fostex or an authorized Fostex service center.

To avoid confusion, 9046 can only be fitted to the secondary drive of the D2424 for archiving

or .WAV file import/export. Recording is not possible on the DVD-RAM and 9046 cannot be

fitted to other D-series products..

CADDY & BAY OPTIONS

Fostex has refurbished the HD caddy and bay for the D2424 in order to considerably improve its

reliability on data transfer. The empty caddy is supplied as model 9043 for additional HD drives.

Model 9044 consists of the empty caddy (model 9043) and its dedicated bay to retrofit to the

secondary slot on the D2424 allowing double-drive configuration. Model 9044 should be retrofitted to

the D2424 by a qualified Fostex service center.
