INSTALLATION
Customer Information: The information in this
installation instruction is intended for use only by
skilled technicians who have the proper tools,
equipment, and training to correctly and safely add
equipment to your vehicle. These procedures
should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.”
1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the
radio, then write down the frequencies for the
preset buttons.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Inside the vehicle, turn the two knobs
counterclockwise, and remove the driver’s
dashboard lower cover (two retaining tabs and
two hooks).

4. Remove the (two self-tapping screws, one screw,
and the steering column upper cover six retaining
tabs).
5. Pull the center lower cover toward you to release
the one retaining tab and six clips.
6. Unplug the vehicle connector from the accessory
socket, and remove the center lower cover.
7. Using a stubby Phillips screwdriver, remove the
two bolts. Pull the center panel out toward you to
release four clips. Unplug the vehicle connectors
and antenna lead.
8. Remove the glove box under cover (three clips
and release the hook from the holder).

9. Open the glove box. Squeeze the retaining tabs,
and remove the stoppers. Close the glove box.
Remove the glove box by removing the two bolts.
Installing the Microphone Cord
10. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the
bonding surface of the steering column upper
cover where the microphone will attach.
11. Remove the adhesive backing from the
microphone and attach it to front surface of the
cover, with the microphone cord in the center of
the meter panel.
12. Using isopropyl alcohol, clean the area where EPT
sealers will attach. Using scissors, cut one EPT
sealer into three pieces. Route the microphone
cord on the bottom face of the meter panel and
attach the cord with the EPT sealers in the areas
as shown.

13. Place the steering column upper cover on the
steering column, and route the microphone cord
toward the audio unit opening. Secure the
microphone cord to the vehicle harness with two
wire ties.
14. Route the microphone cord toward the glove box
opening.
Installing the Telephone Harness
17. Get a telephone harness from the kit.
• If equipped with a Bose amplifier, remove the
tape from the 1-pin connector of the telephone
harness, and plug it to the other 1-pin
connector of the telephone harness attached
with tape. Without a bose amplifier, do not
plug-in.
19. Route the vehicle 20-pin harness behind the
vehicle corrugate harness and hazard switch
harness, and pull it out toward you.

15. Using scissors, cut one EPT sealer in half
horizontally. Wrap the halves of EPT sealer
around the microphone cord where the left radio
bracket and vehicle relay will contact.
16. Secure the microphone cord to the vehicle
harness with two wire ties.

19. Plug the telephone harness 20-pin connector into
the vehicle 20-pin connector.

22. Remove the glove box lamp case (two self-
tapping screws and unplug the lamp harness
connector).
23. Install the control unit to the control unit bracket
with two 4 x 10 mm washer-screws.

21. Route the 20-pin connectors onto the air duct
hose. Pull the telephone harness 14-pin
connector from the glove box opening while
moving the 20-pin connector into the air duct.
20. Route the telephone harness 14-pin connector
along the microphone cord and toward the glove
box opening.
24. Remove the adhesive backing from the modular
jack. Install the modular jack to the control unit
with two 3 x 8 mm washer-screws. Insert the clips
in the wire ties of the modular cable to the holes
in the control unit bracket, and the connector of
the modular jack to the control unit.

25. Inside the glove box opening, plug the telephone
harness 14-pin connector and microphone jack
into the control unit.
28. Install the control unit bracket and glove box lamp
case with two self-tapping screws removed in
step 22. Align the pin with the hole of the control
unit bracket.

26. Insert the clip of the wire tie in the telephone
harness to the hole in the control unit bracket.
27. Secure the microphone cord to the telephone
harness with one wire tie in the area shown (near
the wire tie with clip of the telephone harness).
30. Inside the audio unit opening, secure the vehicle
20-pin harness and microphone cord to the
hazard switch harness with one wire tie in the
area shown.
29. Plug the lamp harness connector to the lamp
case, and attach the lamp harness on the bracket
with one cushion tape.
31. Bundle up excess length of the microphone cord,
and secure it to vehicle harness with corrugate
tube.

Installing the Telephone Cable and Earphone
32. Reinstall the glove box.
33. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the
bonding surface of the glove box. Remove the
adhesive backing from the earphone hanger clip,
and attach the earphone hanger clip to the glove
box in the area as shown.
34. Plug the telephone cable connector into the
modular cable connector. Plug the telephone
cable connector into the cellular phone.
Installing the Audio Unit
37. Plug the telephone harness 20-pin connector into
the audio unit (There are two types). Reinstall the
audio unit.
38. Check that all wire harnesses are routed properly
and all connectors are plugged in.
39. Reinstall all removed parts.
40. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
NOTE: Whenever the battery is disconnected, the
driver’s window AUTO function is disabled.
41. Start engine. Push down fully on the driver’s
window switch until the window is fully open.
42. Pull up fully on the driver's window switch to close
the window completely, then hold the switch for
two seconds.
43. Test the window AUTO function.
35. Plug the earphone jack into the modular jack.
36. Place the earphone on the earphone hanger clip.
