PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Rmax R-Matte

 Plus-3 is an energy-efficient thermal insulation board composed of a closed-cell polyisocyanurate (polyiso) foam core bonded

toreinforcedaluminumfoilfacersoneachside.Whileonesideoftheboardhasareflectivesurface,theothersidehasbeencoatedtohavea

non-reflectivewhitemattesurface.Boardscanbeinstalledwitheitherthesilverorwhitesideout.Foradditionalradiantbarrierproperties,installsilver

sideagainstairspaceifoneexists.

Plus-3shallbeinstalledverticallyorhorizontallywithalledgestightlybutted.Verticaljointsmustbebackedbyframingor

structuralsheathing.Tapingthejointsisacceptable,althoughnotrequired.RmaxrecommendsusingapressuresensitivetapesuchasR-SEAL

ConstructionTape,R-SEAL3000,orequivalent.

Securement–Rmaxrecommendsaminimumofeightfastenersper4’x8’board.Additionalfastenersmayberequiredinlocationsexpectedto

experienceadditionalloading(heavywinddrafts/gusts,acceleratedwearandtear,etc.)priortoattachmentofcoveringmaterial(cladding,furring,

thermalbarrier,etc.)orwhennotbeingcovered.Exactnumberoffastenersalsodependsonthetypebeingusedandthecapacity,consultfastener

manufacturer.Fastentowoodframingusingroofingnails,bugleheadscrews,capnails,orstaples.Thefastenersshallbelongenoughtopenetrate

Plus-3isnotastructuralpanel.Itmustnotbeusedasanailingbaseforanyotherbuildingproducts.Furthermore,studwallsinsulatedwithR-Matte

Plus-3mustbeproperlybracedforlateralloads

accordingtotherequirementsoflocalBuildingCodes.

InstallationsutilizingR-Matte

Plus-3mustbefullyprotectedontheinhabitedsideofthebuildingbyathermalbarriersuchasaminimumof1/2”gypsumwallboard,orequivalent.ConsultlocalBuildingCodesand

insuranceauthoritiesregardingspecialapplicationsordetailsrequiredwhenusingR-Matte

Plus-3asanexposedproduct.

Thecodealsohasprovisionsregardingvaporretarders,typeandlocation,basedontheassembly,climatezoneandtheamountofcontinuousinsulation.Itisuptothedesignprofessionaltospecifyanassembly

thatwillperformadequatelyandmeettheserequirements.PertheIBCandIRC,aWRBisrequiredbehindtheexteriorwallveneer.
