ThispracticeprovidesinstallationandmaintenanceproceduresfortheADTRANTotalAccess
1500TotalReachDDS‐DP(TRDDS‐DP).Thefigureontheleft,illustratesthefrontpanelofthe
TRDDS‐DP(P/N61180105L1).
Description
TheTRDDS ‐DPdeliversdataatratesupto64kbpsusingasinglecopperpair.Usedincombi‐
nationwiththeTotalReachDDS‐Rterminationunit,theTotalReachDDS‐DPcanaccom‐
modateextendedlooplengths,eliminatingtheneedforDDSrepeaters.
•TheTRDDS‐DPspan
powerstheremoteDDS‐Rlocatedatthe customerpremises.
•TheDDS‐Rconvertsthe2‐wiresignaltothetraditional4‐wireAlternateMarkInversion
(AMI)signalforpresentationtothecustomer.
TheTRDDS‐DPoccupiesasinglechannelpositionintheTotalAccess1500chassis.It
providesthe
interfacebetweenaDS0timeslotoftheT‐carrierdatastreamandthe2‐wire
metallicloopextendingtothecustomerpremises.TheTRDDS‐DPwillinteroperateoverthe
carriersystemwithanotherTRDDS‐DP,OCUDP,DS0DP,1/0DCS,orswitchandcanbe
located
inanendoffice,huboffice,intermediateoffice,orDigitalLoopCarrier(seeFigure1).
The2‐wireloopisconnectedusingtheTip(pin15)andtheRing(pin35)ontheTotalAccess
1500backplane.

loopbacks.Immunityisautomaticallyenabledat64kbps.
Inaddition,ADTRAN’sProtectedLoopbackfamilyfeaturesaprotectedloopbackmodefor

Latching Loopback
Latchingloopbacksarealwaysenabledexceptwhentemporarilydisabledviatheprotect

eachphysicalslotinthechannelbank.TheTotalAccess1500allowscraftselectabletimeslots
usingtheelectronicprovisioninginterface.
AP-Switch
Ifthechannelunithasbeenremotelyprovisioned,theoperatorcanalternatebetweenremote
configurationandmanualswitchsettingsbypressingthemomentaryAlternateProvisioning
(
AP)switchlocatedonthefrontpanel.Ifthechannelunitisremovedfromthesystem,the
TotalAccess1500bankslotretainsthelastremoteprovisioninginformation.AsimilarTR
DDS‐DPplacedinthatslotwillassumethesameremoteprovisioning.
