Fuelmustmeet these requirements:
Clean,fresh, unleadedgasoline.
A minimum of 87 octane/87AKI (91 RON).For high
altitude use, see HighAltitude.
Gasolinewith upto 10% ethanol (gasohol)is acceptable.

WHENADDINGFUEL
* Turn pressure washerengine OFFandlet it cool at least2
minutes beforeremoving fuel cap. Loosencap slowly to relieve
pressure intank.
* Fill fuel tank outdoors.
* DONOToverfill tank. Allow spacefor fuel expansion.
* If fuel spills, wait until it evaporatesbefore starting engine.

2.
Cleanarea around fuel fill cap, remove cap.
Slowly add regular unleadedfuel (A) to fuel tank (B). Be
careful not to overfill. Allow about 1.5" (4 cm) (C) of tank
spacefor fuel expansion.
HighAltitude
At altitudes over 5,000 feet (1524 meters), a minimum
85 octane / 85 AKI (89 RON)gasolineis acceptable.To
remainemissions compliant, high altitude adjustment is
required. Operationwithout this adjustment wiii cause
decreasedperformance, increasedfuel consumption, and
increasedemissions. Seea qualified Searsdealerfor high
altitude adjustment information. Operationof the engine at
altitudes below 2,500 feet (762 meters) with the high altitude
kit is not recommended.
LubricateO-Rings
Lubrication of o-rings is extremely important for installation
and operation. The useof a lubricant (petroleum or synthetic
grease)during assembly helps seat o-rings properly and
provides an improved seal. It alsohelps protect the o-ring
from damageby abrasion, pinching or cutting and extends
the life of the o-ring.
NOTICE ALWAYSapply a small amount of lubricant on
o-rings prior to assemblingthe garden hoseto the pump (D),
high pressurehose (E),spray gun (F), and nozzle
extension(G).
3. Install fuel capand wait for any spilled fuel to evaporate.
CAUTION! Alcohol-blendedfuels (calledgasohol, ethanol or
methanol) can attract moisture, which leadsto separationand
formation of acids during storage.Acidic gascan damagethe
fuel system of an enginewhile in storage.
To avoidengine problems, the fuel system should betreated
with a fuel preserver or emptied before storage of 30 days or
longer. If adding a fuel preserver, fill the fuel tank with fresh
fuel. If only partially filled, air in the tank will promote fuel
deterioration during storage. If fuel preserver is not used,
drain thefuel tank, start the engine and let it run until the fuel
lines and carburetor are empty. Usefresh fuel next season.
See Storagefor additional information.
NEVERuseengine or carburetor cleanerproducts in thefuel
tank as permanent damagemay occur.
Lubricateall connectionsshownbelow, following these
instructions:
1. inspect and clean connecting surfaces prior to
lubrication and assembly.
2. Uselubricants sparingly during assembly;a light film is
all that is required.
3. Usea small brush or cotton swab to applygrease
directly to o-rings wherethey are not accessible (QC
fitting, M22 fitting).

ENGINETECHNICALiNFORMATiON PRODUCTSPECIFICATIONS
This is a single cylinder, L-head,air cooled M/odei100000
engine. The Emission Control System for this pressure
washer is warranted for standards set bythe Environmental
Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board.
Certification does not grant the purchaser, owner or operator
of this engine anyadditional warranties with respectto the
performance or operational life of this engine.Theengine is
warranted solely according to the product and emissions
warranties stated elsewherein this manual.
Power Ratings
Thegross power rating for individual gas engine models is
labeled in accordancewith SAE(Society of Automotive
Engineers)codeJ1940 (Small Engine Power & Torque
Rating Procedure), and rating performance has been
obtained and corrected in accordancewith SAEJ1995
(Revision 2002-05). Torquevalues are derived at 3060 RPMM;
horsepower values are derived at 3600 RPMM.Thegross
power curves can beviewed at
www.BRIGGSandSTRATTON.COMNet power values are
taken with exhaust and air cleanerinstalled whereas gross
power values are collectedwithout these attachments.Actual
gross engine power will be higher than net engine power and
is affected by, among other things, ambient operating
conditions and engine-to-enginevariability. Giventhe wide
array of products on which enginesare placed, the gas
engine may not developthe ratedgross power when used in
a given pieceof power equipment. This difference is due to a
variety of factors including, but not limited to, the variety of
engine components (air cleaner, exhaust, charging, cooling,
carburetor, fuel pump, etc.), application limitations, ambient
operating conditions (temperature, humidity, altitude), and
engine-to-enginevariability. Dueto manufacturing and
capacity limitations, Briggs & Stratton may substitute an
engine of higher ratedpower for this Seriesengine.

,A CAUTION Excessively high operating speeds could
result in minor injury.
Excessively low speeds impose a heavy load.

DO NOTmodify pressure washer in any way.
AFTEREACHUSE
Water should not remain in the unit for long periods of time.
Sedimentsor minerals candeposit on pump parts and
"freeze" pump action. Follow these procedures after every
use:
1. Shut off engine, turn off water supply, point gun in a
safedirection, press red button and squeezetrigger to

WINTERSTORAGE
NOTICE You must protect your unit from freezing
temperatures.
Failure to do so will permanently damageyour pump and render
your unit inoperable.
Freezedamage is not covered underwarranty.
To protect the unitfrom freezing temperatures:
1. Follow steps 1-4 in the previous section AfterEach Use.
2. Use pump saver, availableat Sears, item 74403, to treat
pump. This minimizes freezedamageand lubricates
pistons and seals.
3. If pump saver is not available, connect a 3-foot section
of garden hoseto water inlet adapter. Pour
RV-antifreeze (antifreezewithout alcohol) into hose. Pull
recoil handletwice. Disconnect 3-foot hose.
4. Store unit in a clean,dry area.
LONGTERIViSTORAGE
If you do not plan to usethe pressure washer for morethan
30 days, you must preparethe engine and pump for long
term storage.
It is important to prevent gum deposits from forming in
essentialfuel system parts such asthe carburetor, fuel filter,
fuel hoseor tank during storage. Also, experienceindicates
that alcohol-blendedfuels (called gasohol, ethanol or
methanol) canattract moisture, which leadsto separation
and formation of acids during storage. Acidic gascan
damagethefuel system of an enginewhile in storage.
Protect Fuel System
Fuel Additive:
Fuelcan becomestale when stored over 30 days. Stalefuel
causesacid and gum deposits to form in the fuel system or
on essentialcarburetor parts. To keepfuel fresh, use Briggs

Thereis no needto drain gasolinefrom the engine if a fuel
stabilizer is added according to instructions.Runthe engine
for 2 minutes to circulate the stabilizerthroughout the fuel
system before storage.
