[Standard procedure to check system operation]
1. Check the 2
nd
row number at the LED display panel whether the value is set at the
factory setting:
TANK-TEMP: 78~80, OIL-TEMP: 140, AIR-TEMP: 300, TIMER: 1800~2000
2. Check & clean the mesh filter
3.
Check the placement of the condensate line. The drain hose should be placed
lower than the exit point of the condensate line.
4.
Check the ELB (30-1, refer Electric Panel section) whether the breaker is on and
SSR (whether light is on or off – should be ON.)
If SSR is off all the time, it may be related to the malfunction of heater or heating oil.
SSR may need to be replaced
5.
Check the overload of food waste. Check whether the food waste is inserted more than 80% of
the capacity so that the agitator may not have enough room and air to operate. It would result
in the reduction of efficiency so that it may not complete the operation cycle properly based on
the pre-programmed setting. It may require more extra time to complete the cycle.
Continued overload of the system would void the warranty and may reduce the life of the
system.
6.
Check the placement of system whether it is placed too close to the wall. eCorect system does
not require any special ventilation. However, the machine should be placed at least 1~1.5 ft
off from the wall for proper air ventilation.
[Trouble shooting guide]
Q) E-1 lamp is ON. How to handle this and how to reset?
With E-1 ON, it may indicate the system is overloaded, exceeding the temperature more
than the given threshold (extra “10” degree). E-1 light indicates that the system is in
“protected” mode for over-heat.
To release from E-1 status, push the BLUE button [the
overload M/C (30-5)] in the Electric Panel. Also check the
value of the left dial (on the left from blue button) to see if
it is set at “3”. DO NOT increase this number without
consulting with service contact.
To go back to the normal operation, push “
E-STOP, and then release E-STOP by turning clockwise
and push START to run.
DISCHARGE”,
If this symptom continues, please check the SSR (31-1)
whether the light is ON. If it is not ON or does not blink, please contact your service
contact. The SSR may need to be replaced.
Q) E-2 lamp is ON. How to handle this and reset?
E-2 lamp indicates the system is overheated, exceeding the AIR-TEMP more than the
preset threshold (extra 10~50 degree)
Run the system again, and see if the number in the first row exceeds the
PV (preset value) plus the threshold. Number (e.g. 300+50). The AIR-
TEMP could increase up to 310~313, then would start to decrease. If
the number continues to increase and reaches more than “350”, please
call your service contact.
Push “COOLING” button to cool off the system before you turn the
system off. This would reset the protected mode of E-1. Otherwise, the
symptom could repeat.
Q) The system is ON but does not operate.
Check the input door whether it is still open and also check the (black) safety security
sensor button placed next to the input door whether it is pressed on.
Check the main ELB (breaker) in the electric panel.
Check whether E-STOP button is still on. If so, turn the E-STOP button clockwise to
release.
Q) The end product still appears to be wet or tends to finish the operation cycle prematurely.
Check the cleanliness of the mesh filter and whether the drain line is plugged up at the back
of the system or whether the drain hose is placed above the exit height of the drain pipe.
The drain hose should be placed lower than the outlet height.
Check the temperature in the OIL-TEMP whether the temperature increases over time.
Also check the SSR in the electric panel whether it is ON. If the system operation stops
prematurely and lights E-2 lamp, check whether the Preset Value (ALH) in AIR-TEMP is
set to 10. You may increase the ALH to “50”to increase the threshold for the protected
mode. Please contact SOMAT for authorization.
Check whether the amount of food waste exceeds more than 80%. 80% is the
recommended maximum input capacity for regular food waste. If the waste includes lots of
liquid, the recommended level should be 60% for the proper biomass conversion of the
waste. Running with overcapacity would cause the premature finish of the operation. If
the end product still appears to be wet, press “START” button again and complete the
cycle for 2~3 hours by pushing “COOLING” button. In most cases, the extended
operation hour could improve the quality of the output.
Check the operation of the blower and blower fan relay (34-6) by opening the input door
and check the right side of the reactor.
Check the black safety sensor placed at the input door whether it is released.
Check the packing in the input door and discharge door whether they are securely sealed
the door.
Q) System stops during the operation
Check whether E-1 or E-2 lamp is ON.
Check whether E-STOP is on.
Check the main ELB breaker & TIMER setting.
Check whether the Circuit Safe Guard (32-1) is ON (refer Electric Panel section).
Q) Unusual Noise from operation
Foreign substance might block the operation of agitator inside the reactor.
Check the tension of the chain whether it is too loose. Tighten the chain by adjusting the
bolt of the motor mount. The tension should be checked in the first 6 month of the
operation.
If the symptom continues, check chain, bearing, sprocket, and cooling fan.
Q)
E-STOP lamp is ON during the operation
Check whether untreatable items are inserted with the waste. The substance may block the
movement of the agitator.
Oil heater might be overloaded. Check Oil-SSR (31-1) whether it is on/off. If the light is
off always, replace the SSR.
Turn the E-STOP clockwise to release after the troubleshooting measure.
Q) Senses static electricity from the system during the operation
Check the grounding conductor.
Check for electricity leaks from the heater: Contact the authorized service contact.
Q) Lots of steam coming out of the system
Check where the steam comes out. Usually, two factors associated with this symptom.
First, check the outlet of the air filter (see picture). If the system continues to be
overloaded with food waste that exceeds the recommended capacity (usually 80%), it may
block the air outlet and prevents the proper flow of the steam inside the reactor. Then, the
steam would be re-directed to the air filter. Second, check out the drain of the air filter
(picture below) and the mesh filter whether the filter or the filter box is blocked.
[Air filter]
AIR in/out filter
Outlet of the air filter at the BACK PANEL
[Mesh filter]
The filter will be automatically cleaned with the internal water recycling system every time
you push START button. It sprays and cleans the mesh filter using the condensate water
obtained from the decomposition cycle. However, if you continue overloading the system,
the condensate water may be depleted so that it is unable to spray the water to clean the
filter. In some case, it could negatively affect the performance of the water pump.
To check the mesh filter, unfasten the volt and check whether the mesh filter is clean.
PLEASE DO NOT PERFORM THIS DURING THE OPERATION. THE UNIT
WILL BE VERY HOT. WAIT UNTIL THE SYTEM COOLS OFF. You can wash
the filter with tap water. To test whether the water spray works normally, push the
START” button after the system power is ON. Water should come out from the water
spray.
Q) Lots of greases still remain after the operation cycle, if the food waste contains too much fat,
oil or greases, such as pizza or oily food waste.
Adding more green waste such as vegetables or wood chips or pulped cardboard would
improve the decomposition process of the fat.
