About this chapter
Read this chapter attentively. It contains im portant information to prevent personal injury while servicing an SLite display on-site.
Furthermore, it includes several cautions to prevent damage to the SLite tile. Ensure you understand and follow all the safety
guidelines, safety instructions and warnings mentioned in this chapter before performing any servicing on the SLite display. After
this chapter additional “warnings” and “cautions” are give n depending on the servicing procedure. Read and follow these “warnings”
and “cautions” as well.

1.1 Servicing safety instructions
WARNING: Servicingmustbedonebyauthorizedandqualied technical personnel only, which are thor-
oughly familiar with the product and all of the proper safety checks of this product.
Personal protection
WARNING: Ensure you understand and follow all the safety guidelines, safety instructions, warnings and
cautions mentioned in this manual.
WARNING: Be aware of suspended loads.
WARNING: Wear a hard hat to reduce the risk of personal injury.
WARNING: Be careful while working with heavy loads.
WARNING: Mind your ngers while working with heavy loads.
Safety precautions:
Follow all servicing and safety instructions m entioned in the s ervicing procedures.
Unplug the tile AC power cord from the AC power source and wait about 10 minutes before start any servicing to the tile. This
to allow the capacitors to discharge.
Some boards contains electrostatically sensitive dev ices (ESD). Tak e the necessary precautions to prevent the incidence of
component dam age c aused by static electricity.
Do not modify and/or replicate any component. Barco uses specic materials and manufacturing processes in order to achieve
part strength. No other parts then Barco parts are allowed.
Additional on-site servicing safety precautions:
Fence off a restricted area of at least 3 meters arou nd the LED-w all using an eye-catching fence and “KEEP O UT ” signs. This
to prevent unauthorized persons coming near the LED-wall during servicing.
Inspect the complete LED-wall for security, wear, deformation, corrosion, and any other c ircumstances that may effect the load
handling capab ility of the part.
Both hand s must be free for s ervicing SLite tiles in a LED-wall. T herefore the use of a ladder to access a tile is forbidden. Only
the use of a s caffold or a Z-lift is allowed.
Do not use the stacker system of the LED-wall to climb into the SLite display. Always us e a scaffold or Z-lift to perform any
servicing or repairing to the display.
In case of removing an SLite LED module out of a tile, ensure the module is secured with a safety cable to the LED -wall structure.
Take the necessary precautions to prevent water intrusion inside the S Lite tile due to weathe r conditions.

Silicone tube
Remove the funnel of the silicone tube and close t he tube with the original tube cap. Clean the funnel for nex t time use. S tore the
silicone tube at room temperature in its original container.
CAUTION: Keep out of reach of children. Keep container dry. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use only in
well ventilated areas.
Syringe with silicone
The silicone can be kept for 1 week in the syringe for further use, although the c olor of th e s ilicone may become yellow-brow. To
reuse the syringe, suck some air into the syringe to unblock the needle and preventing silicone curing with moisture.
SLite LED’s
Keep the LED’s in the anti static bag for storage.

3.1 Remove the back cover of an SLite tile
CAUTION: Ensure to perform this procedure in a dry and clean environment with a low humidity level. A high
humidity level inside a sealed tile will damage the internal fans and other electronic parts. Place, if necessary,
some small bags with a liquid absorbing substance (silica gel) inside the tile to absorb the remaining humidity.
Necessary tools
Nut driver 1 3 mm
How to remove the back cover of an SLite tile ?
1. Unplug the external power and data cables connected with the re-sync unit.
2. Remove the 14 nuts of the back co ver, using a 13 mm nut driver, and remove the bac k cover about 40 c m away from the tile in
horizontal direction.
Caution: Do not lower down the bac k cover yet, otherwise the full load of the back cover will damage the power and data
cables and sockets between the tile and the back cover.

How to remove the SMPS assembly of an SLite tile ?
1. Unplug the six black wire units on the LED- drivers. Do not unplug the connections on the power distribution unit.
Note: The black wire units are attached to the SMPS assembly with cable binders.
2. Is this an S Lite XP tile?
If yes, unplug the at cable between the two LED drivers at the top.
Note: This at cable has an ferrite core which is attached to the back of the SMPS assembly.
If no, unplug the two at cables between the controller unite and the two lowest LED-drivers.
Note: Unlike the SLite XP tile the SLite tile has a controller w hich is attached to the SMPS assembly.
3. Release the four M4 bolts which attach the SMP S assembly to the frame.
