handling and/or fitting of
batteries must be observed.
Check to ensure that the
operating instructions and the
battery manufacturer’s handling
instructions have been supplied.
It is essential that these
instructions be complied with.
Before charging, check the
battery and charging cables and
replace if necessary. Smoking
is prohibited during battery
charging. Avoid naked flames,
flying sparks or the setting-up
of incandescent bodies.
Ventilate room well, as highly
explosive oxyhydrogen gas is
produced during battery
charging. All cavities, lids,
hoods etc. in which the
oxyhydrogen gas can accumulate
must be opened. Fire fighting
equipment must be easily
accessible. Eating and drinking is
prohibited in rooms in which
charging is carried out. Hands
are to be thoroughly washed
immediately after work on the
batteries. Do not touch or spill
battery acid. Do not lay metal

otherwise there is a danger of
short-circuiting and fire.
