Description and Overview
The 6408D+ Telephone has eight call appearance/feature buttons, a 2-line by 24-character
display, and a two-way speakerphone.

Send Calls (Sends Calls directly to voicemail without ringing)

Directory (Look up other college district phone numbers by entering a last name;
use the next button on your phone to scroll through names)
Call Display (Used with the directory feature to automatically dial the number on
the display screen)
Call Pickup (Answer calls ringing on other phones in your group)
Soft Key Features:
Soft Key features are additional features accessed by pressing the “Menu” button below
the display screen and then pressing the button below the feature you want to use.
There are 3 sets of menus with up to 4 features each. Use the “Next” button to go from
menu to menu.
Typical Soft Key menu features are programmed as follows*:
Menu Screen 1 (press the “Next” button to move from menu to menu.)
Call Park (Use this feature to park, on hold, on another campus phone)
Drop (used to drop the last person added to a conference call)
Date Time
Call Forward (Press this button followed by another campus extension to
forward calls to another campus phone.
Menu Screen 2 (press the “Next” button to move from menu to menu.)
Priority (press before dialing another office phone. The other phone will ring
with a distinctive ring tone signifying the call is priority.
Prog (used to program an abbreviated dial button. See instructions on page 15
of the online user guide at the link at the end of this document.)

The Call Pickup feature lets you answer a call at your telephone for another
extension in your pickup group.
Call Pickup
You can program 5 numbers on a Personal Abbreviated Dialing List (in some
cases you may have a 10 number list). To program a number follow the steps
below:
1) Pickup your handset or press “Speaker”
2) Dial the abbreviated dialing programming code: *0
3) Dial the number “1” (this is the number of the list we use)
4) Dial the position on the list (1 through 5) you want to program.
5) Dial the phone number you want to add (remember to include a 9 if
it’s an outside number)
6) Press # to save.
To call a number on your abbreviated dialing list:
1) Pickup your handset or press “Speaker”
2) Dial the abbreviated dialing list code: *1
3) Dial the position number of the phone number you want to call (1
through 5).
Example:
“*11” dials the first number programmed on your list.
“*15” dials the 5
th
(last) number programmed on your list.
Note: If you have a 10 number list the 10
th
number is dialed using only the
0 like this:
“*10”.
Other Abbreviated Dialing Options
SCC Telecommunications can create custom Abbreviated Dialing buttons on
your phone to meet special needs. Contact your Telecommunications
Administrator for more information.
Using the Softkeys
The softkeys are the four unlabeled round keys located directly below the display. The four
round display control buttons, labeled Menu, Exit, Prev, and Next are located under the
softkeys. See Figure 4.

Using the Softkey Feature Menus
There are three separate softkey feature menus. Each of these menus allows you to select from
four different features.
You can enter Softkey Mode (and view the softkey feature menu) by pressing the display
control button labeled Menu. The following is an example of a softkey feature menu.
The top line of each softkey feature menu screen shows you the status of each of the four
features. An arrow appears above the feature name or abbreviation if that feature is active. In
the above example, the arrow above the Timer feature indicates that feature is active.
The second line on each softkey feature menu shows the features you can access. To use any of
these features, you must press the softkey below the feature name or abbreviation.
Press the Next or Prev button until the feature you want to use appears on the display.
Other Programmed Features (Softkeys)
Note: An error tone (one beep) sounds when you have made an inappropriate softkey
entry.
Press the Exit button at any time to exit the softkey feature menus and return to normal
call-handling operation.
