1.1 Overview new functionality
OSD
• First 2 layouts can also be renamed
• Signal is added to the OSD menu. This menu contains the menu Background which al-
lows to select the backgr
ound to be the iCon server (desktop) or a Black image (blanked
desktop)
• Firmware version is displayed with 2 (decimal) digits
• In the source selection RGB-
YUV, RGB is checked (with a bullet) when Cs on H
• Load file : all files with vertical range +/-100Hz are loadable (via OSD and RS232)
Serial file load : the requested file is reserved for the focuse d window source (even if
no sync is present). The file lock is removed if the window is rem oved
Image processing
• AutoImage : improved calculations and stability (wrong calculation on XGA solved, im-
age positioning windows, ...)
• Second HDTV source ha s correct color reproduction
• Settings for component vid eo (YUV) are saved
• Improved input balance adjustment
• Video de-interlacer : improved (DCM calibration/Noise reduction)
• Improved Frame tearing
• Improved Freeze function
• Aspect ratio : Auto setting is translated to 4:3 (only for video sources)

• Esc button starts u p the projector when iCon Server is logged on
• PiP commands via RS232 : layout control can now be achieved via RS232 (string must
be zero terminated)
Note that the projector will acknow ledge the command, even if the layout does not exist
(see RS232 manual)
• Network software (Server, Proximity, De s ktop integration) is uninstalled automatically
during upgrade
• Several memory leak problems (in firmware and server), slowing down the projector,
are solved
• Image files : the image files are automatically re-created after an upgrade
• Power box : improved stability ( upgrade procedure,...)
• iCon Server : can now be switched ON/OFF via RS232 commands
• Switch source command : bugs solved (mix up betwe en RGB/YUV and switch from com-
ponenttocompositevideoonthesamelayer)
• System and runtime file : a backup of this file is taken. This is an extra recovering
possibility : the validity of the XML file is checked if not valid, the backup file is used
• Pause : Pause state is reset before a startup (no black image at startup)
• Lamp serial number : now limited to 6 digits
Important note ! The RS232 connection for RS232 control is done on the
standard projector RS232 input (not on the Server RS232 input)

1.2 Upgrade to V1.21
Important note !
From now on (V1.21) the software (upgrade) files are made available on the TDE and the
PartnerZone as 2 different files :
•A.zip file containing the Client files : these fi
les must be installed on the client(s) (PC or
laptop). The zip file includes the C ontrol & Diagnostics Client file, the Dr opZone Client
file and the Proximity Desktop Client file
•A.zip file containing the “Server” files : these files must be installed on the projector
and its Server.
The zip file includes the projector Firmware file, the iCon Server software file and the
Proximity De sktop Server file

nerZone).

form the upgrade !

How to u pgrade the projector firmware and n etwork software (using an USB stick)
?
1.Copy following files from the memory stick to ‘C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Do c-
uments\Received’ on the iCon Server harddisk : commands.txt, iCon.Vxx.xx.cab,
ServerUnitTest, Upgrade.bat.
Tip: - If you get a popup ‘Confirm File Replace’ during the copy, click ‘Yes to All’
Tip: InsteadofcopyingthefilefromthestickitcanbedoneviatheLAN:1.SelectRun
fromStartmenuoniCondesktop;2.Type\\IP-addressor\\Hostnamefromthe
PC where files are located ; 3. Drag & drop the files to th e Received folder on the
iCon.
2.Click Upgrade.bat in the received folder.
3.Wait for the acknowledgement ‘done’ in the DOS-box.
4.TheiConServerhastobeputtoshutdownviathemenuiteminthefirmwareOSD.
5.After the iCon Server has been shut down the projector has to be put to standby.
6.After the cooldown period of the fans (LED 1 is blinking green for 2 minutes) wait until
the projector is in standby mode (only LED 3 stays red). Now switch off the unit by the
main switch.
7.Then the projector can be switched on again (with the main switch).
8.The projector will perform several upgrades (power box, ...), this is signaled with one
red LED and one orange LED. After completion of this upgrade only the red LED remains
(standby status). This may take from 5 seconds up to 5 minutes depending on the actual
configuration.
9.Fromnowontheprojectorcanbestartedupandisworkingwiththenewfirmware.
10.Double click the corresponding network setup file (iCon ser ver, Proximity server, ...) and
follow the instructions.
The “uninstall” of the previous network software version is done auto-
matically.
