HD225 Firmware Upgrade Instructions
To upgrade the projector firmware, you need the following:
The M1 cable that comes with the projector
A computer with an available USB port
Latest firmware (Downloadable from www.knollsystems.com \Technical info\Home theater products\HD225)
Connect the projector to the computer
1. Connect the M1-A cable to the M1 connector at the rear of the projector
2. Plug the USB connector at the other end of the cable into an available USB port on the computer.
3. Plug the power cord into a power source. Do not plug the power cord into the projector at this
point.
Install the upgrade files on your computer
NOTE The examples below show a different projector model and version number than yours. Your model
and version number may be HD225 _753-0363-09.exe, for example. The procedure you follow is the
same.
1. In Windows Explorer, locate the firmware file you downloaded from the web. In this example, the
file was downloaded to a folder named TEMP on the C drive. Double-click the file to extract the
contents.

2. The WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box appears. Click Unzip to expand the files. The files will unzip
to the default location listed in the Unzip To Folder box.
3. Click Close.
Perform the projector upgrade
1. In Windows Explorer, go the folder where the files were unzipped. Double-click the file named
USB_Flasher.exe.

The Firmware Upgrade Wizard appears.
2. Click Next.
The Select File dialog box appears.
click on Browse and select " Brandware_753-0374-01.BIN" and click NEXT

6. Make sure you've connected the USB connector on the M1 cable to the computer.
7. To prepare the projector for the upgrade process, do the following:
On the projector keypad, press and hold the Menu button.
Plug in the power cord, immediately release menu button and then repress the
Menu button within one second.
The projector should go into ‘flash mode’, where the LED is steady amber.
If the projector turns on or the LED is green, repeat the process. You may need to repeat the
process to get the timing right.
NOTE At this point, you may be asked to install the device USB driver.
8. To start the upgrade, click Next in the Select Link Type dialog box.
The Upgrading status box appears, showing the progress of the upgrade.

NOTE If the Upgrading status box shows no progress, click Cancel and try again.
9. When the upgrade finishes, click Finish.
Part 1 of upgrade is complete.
Part 2 of upgrade
Go through the same process as Part 1 upgrade except in the "select file" box
click on Browse and select "Bifrost Home_1.0.20_ Flasher Upgrader" then select
open and then next, the select link type window appears.
At this time press and hold down the MENU button
Plug in power cord , immediately release Menu button and repress the menu
button within one second then press Next an the upgrading should start.
When the upgrade is complete the projector should power up.
On the projector keypad, press the Menu button
On the Main Menu the "About " should have changed to " Source Info"
The new firmware version should read 753-0363-09 instead of -07.
The upgrade is complete, disconnect M1 -USB cable.
