Introduction
The purpose of this section is to help you
properly wire and mount the BACview
2
.The
BACview
2
is a combination keypad and
display unit that attaches to a single control
module for local operator interface and
control. It provides limited capabilities for
viewing and changing certain parameter
values and the control module's real time
clock. To prevent unauthorized personnel
from changing values, the BACview
2
supports
optional password protection. For
instructions on using the BACview
2
, refer to
the BACview
2
User’s Guide.
The BACview
2
enhances your installation by
allowing you to view and change parameters
locally without a separate computer.
However, the BACview
2
was not designed to
serve as a job start-up tool. It is meant to help
you operate your control system by allowing
local access to the most commonly changed
parameters. Note that any parameter changes
issued from the BACview
2
exist only in the
module until you transfer them to the
workstation.
The BACview
2
can be used with any Exec 6.0
(or later) control module with a 14-pin
Auxiliary Device Port except gateway
modules. For instructions on using the
BACview
2
, refer to the BACview
2
User's Guide.

Mounting
The BACview
2
rear mounting plate (see
Figure 2) has four mounting holes and one
opening for the 14 conductor ribbon cable.
The rear mounting plate can be removed by
releasing the four screws on the sides and is
used as a template for mounting. There are
typically two different types of mounting,
Types I and I I .
NOTE If this equipment is used in a manner
not specified by the manufacturer, the
protection provided by the equipment may be
impaired.
Type I Mounting
The BACview
2
can be mounted onto a panel
directly above the module it will
communicate with (see Figure 3 on page 4).
1. Remove the rear mounting plate screws
(see Figure 2 for location) from the
BACview
2
.
2. Remove the rear mounting plate from the
BACview
2
.

4. Feed the ribbon cable through the ribbon
hole on the rear mounting plate.
5. Pull the ribbon cable to the side and
mount the rear mounting plate onto the
panel using the four mounting holes
shown in Figure 2 on page 3. Be sure not
to bend or pinch the ribbon cable beneath
the rear mounting plate.

7. Reattach the BACview
2
to the rear
mounting plate.
8. Connect the ribbon cable to the module’s
Auxiliary Device port (see Figure 3).
Type II Mounting
The BACview
2
canbemountedonthedoorof
a panel box. With this type of mounting the
ribbon cable is fed through the door and
connected to the module (see Figure 4 on
page 5).
1. Remove the rear mounting plate screws
(see Figure 2 on page 3 for location) from
the BACview
2
.
2. Remove the rear mounting plate from the
BACview

3. Use the rear mounting plate as a template
to drill four mounting holes through the
door of a panel box.
4. Use the rear mounting plate as a template
to cut a hole for the ribbon cable through
thedoorofapanelbox.
5. Feed the ribbon cable through the ribbon
hole on the rear mounting plate and the
panel door.
6. Mount the rear mounting plate onto the
panel using the four mounting holes

Wiring
CAUTION The BACview
2
is a Class 2 device
(less than 30 VAC, 100VA max). Take
appropriate isolation measures when
mounting a BACview
2
in a control panel
where Class 1 devices or wiring are present.
1. Turn off the power to the module the BACview
2
will communicate with.
