Introduction
The new BEETLE/ iScale TOP is an extension of the BEETLE /M POS
System. This new construction allows the use of an additional Scale
Controller so that a scale can be connected to this controller.
The controller processes all scale informations, from tare default to zero
position.
The internal connection between controller and multiplexer card VGA/4-
MUX allows the results of the scale calculations (weigh data) to be
displayed on the customer/ cashier display BA69W.
The BA69W tare and zero pushbuttons have to be connected to the
LCD2 plug of the multiplexer card.
An external connection between the scale contollers COM interface and
a COM interface of the motherboard provides the weigh data of the
application software, e.g for the print of the sales slip.
The weighing module at the rear side of the BEETLE is protected by a
calibration seal, thus avoiding manipulations.
Operating the weighing module without a seal is not allowed!

Setting up the device
Set up the BEETLE /iScaleTOP system so that it is not subject to any
extreme environmental conditions. Protect the device from shocks, dust,
moisture, heat and strong magnetic fields. Always be sure that the side
ventilation slots of the BEETLE /iScaleTOP are not blocked, thus
ensuring that the device always has sufficient ventilation. Mind the
minimum clearances indicated below!
If you plan to install the unit into a confined space, also always be sure
to maintain the specified minimum clearance and ensure constant air
flow for effective ventilation. The immediate ambient temperature for
the system must not exceed 40° C/104° F. These requirements can be
best met, if you do not install the unit into completely confined furniture.
The maximum depth of installation can be equal to the entire depth of
the unit including the optionally available cable cover, i.e. 354 mm.

Vertical Installation
The following minimum clearances must also be provided in vertical
mounting into a confined furniture in free convection to ensure sufficient
ventilation:
upwards: 50 mm
downwards: 50 mm
A vertically installed device therefore has to be placed on a rig
(spacer made of non-combustible material) that guarantees sufficient
ventilation and a minimum clearance of 80 mm to the bottom of the
furniture.
A surface made of nonflammable material (e.g. concrete or metal) must
be located underneath the vertically mounted BEETLE.
The side with the fan has to be on top!

Also make sure that the calibration seal/calibration switch at the
rearside of the device is visible and accessible without greater effort!
If access is only possible from one side, turn the device so (e.g. verti-
cally 180 degrees), that the rearside of the BEETLE is accessible.
