1 Introduction
1.1 Purpose of this manual
This manual explains the unpacking, assembly and installation operation procedures of the Grand-Format
Inkjet Printer (PJ-2646NXE) made by MUTOH INDUSTRIES LTD.
This manual is prepared for unpacking, assembly and installation of this printer.
Before unpacking, assembly and installation of the printer, first understand the contents and directions in
this manual.

No part of this product or manual may be reproduced, copied, or transmitted in any form or
by any means, except for personal use, without the permission of MUTOH INDUSTRIES
LTD.
The product and the contents of this manual may be changed without prior notification.

2 Unpacking
The unpacking procedure and contents of the package are described below.
2.1 Unpacking procedure
Unpack the package according to the following procedure.
CAUTION
When unpacking or moving this product, always work with 4 people or more.
When removing this product from the packaging box, always remove the vinyl plastic, and
hold on the side of the product. Holding the unit over the vinyl plastic wrapping can result in
slippage and dropping the unit, resulting in damage.
1. Move the packaging to the location to unpack.
2. Remove the bolts (48) fixing the top boards (4) to
remove the top boards (4).

5. Remove the bolts (4) fixing the fixed materials

7. Cut near the welded area of the product
protection sheet with a box cutter to remove the
product protection sheet.

When cutting the product protection sheet with a box
cutter, ensure not to damage the product.
8. Remove the bolts (12) fixing the adjuster fixed
materials A (4) and the adjuster fixed materials
B (4) to remove the adjuster fixed materials A
and B.

9. Remove the bolts (4) fixing the stand fixed
materials (2) to remove the stand fixed
materials (2).

10. Pick up the slope (2) from the front board
removed in the procedure 6.
11. Attach the slope to the front side of the palette.
12. Using the slope, lower the product from the
palette.

2.2 Verification of packaged items
After unpacking the packaging box, inspect to make sure that the unit is not damaged, and that all
necessary parts are present.

3 Assembly
The assembly of this product is described below.
3.1 Removal of protective packaging material
Protective packaging material is attached in the following locations of this product.
Remove all protective packaging material according to the following procedure.
1. Remove tape from all parts of the product.
CAUTION
Be careful not to pinch your fingers when opening and closing the maintenance cover.
NOTE
NOTE
Make sure that the Y-bare cable inside the front cover is as follows when the product is tilted to carry in:
The Y-bare cable is not fallen down or is not out of position.
The Y-rail cover is not interfered by the Y-bare cable.
2. Using the screwdriver attached to the product, the
screw that is fixing the head unit fixture material is
loosened.

3. Remove the head unit.
4. Remove the protective packaging material from
the bottom of the purge plate.

NOTE
NOTE
The print head cap is wrapped at the shipment. Ensure
to remove the vinyl plastic wrapping when using the
product.
5. Close the maintenance cover.

6. Using the screwdriver attached to the product,
remove the following parts that to fixed both side
of the cushioning roller.

of the tension roller.

3.2 Installing the Panel cover
Install the panel cover on the operation panel not to stain with the ink or the jetwash fluid.
Install the panel cover according to the following procedure.
1. Install the following parts on the operation panel
one over another as shown in the figure.

NOTE
When the panel cover stains with the ink or the jetwash fluid, change the panel cover for new ones.

3.3 Removal the media sticking prevention screen
The media sticking prevention screen is attached in the product at the time of product shipment. When not
using papers that are easy to stick, such as a tarpaulin, a prevention network with paper tension is
removed. Remove a media sticking prevention screen according to the following procedures.
CAUTION
Be careful not to pinch your fingers when opening and closing the front cover.
1. Remove the eight springs from the plate of media
sticking prevention screen.
2. Remove the below springs from media sticking
prevention screen.

3. Open the front cover.
4. Using the screwdriver coming with the accessory
box, remove the sixteen screws for media sticking
prevention screen.
5. Remove media prevention screen from media
guide.

6. Close the front cover.

TIP
Reinstall parts in the opposite order of the removal procedure.

4 Installation
Printer installation is explained below.
4.1 Choosing a place for the printer
Install the printer in a proper location referring to the following.
WARNING
The ink and jet wash fluid used for this printer contains an organic solvent
(CYCLOHEXANONE). Make sure to follow the industrial waste disposal laws and ordinances
of your local government.
It is necessary to install a local ventilation unit, push/pull type ventilation unit, or a total
ventilation unit to perform adequate ventilation.
The ink and jet wash fluid used for this printer contains an organic solvent
(CYCLOHEXANONE). It is flammable so open flame is prohibited in the area. In a dry
environment, static electricity can cause ignition, so before handling the ink, jet wash fluid, or
waist fluid, touch a metallic object first to remove static electricity from your body. Do not
near materials having static, and take appropriate measures against static electricity.
Do not place the printer in a location under the following conditions. Doing so may cause the
product to fall, become damaged, or cause injury.
Unstable surfaces
Slanted surfaces
Locations that are subject to vibration from other product
Do not stand on the printer or place any heavy objects on it. Doing so may cause it to fall
over, become damaged, or cause injury.
Do not cover the ventilation hole of the printer with cloth, such as a blanket or table cloth.
Doing so could prevent the printer from ventilating and cause fire.
Keep the printer away from humid and busty areas. Failure to do so may result in electrical
shock or fire.

what you expect.

MUTOH recommends that the printer should be installed where air conditioning can be adjusted easily.

4.1.2 Required space

4.2 Installing the printer
To install the printer, follow the steps below.
1. Move the printer to where it will be installed.
2. Rotate the adjusters in the direction shown below
to make the printer stable.
Stand: 4
Winding unit: 2
Feed unit: 2
3. Jiggle the printer to make sure that it stable.
