NOTE
The repeater meets the uplink and downlink isolation degree index. Since the
link isolation degree is inuenced by the isolation degree of antenna and feeding
system (between donor antenna and service antenna). It requests that antenna
and feeding system isolation degree should be more than 10dB of mini repeater
gain. otherwise it will cause tri-band mini repeater internal self-excitation that leads
to interfere base station or to destroy mini repeater under serious self-excitation
conditions.
That is why you should ensure the isolation degree between donor antenna
and service antenna is larger than 80dB when installing the mini repeater,
otherwise our company will take no responsiblity for any effect caused by improper
installation.

With rising level of communication consumption, people's inquiry about mobile
communication is increasing day by day, as well as mobile communication service
quality .It requires telecommunication operator to improve telecommunication network
quality and extend coverage.
How to improve mobile communication quality and extend coverage has become
an important topic for each operator. Electromagnetic wave sent by mobile
telecommunication base station is affected by all kinds of objective factor, such as
landform, building, so it could not cover each corner where people may reach. If it only
depends on increasing the quantity of expensive base station to solve the problem, it
will surely increase enormous operating cost of the operator, especially for areas with
litter trafc, it also will exert adverse inuences on operator's competitiveness. Tri-band
mini repeater is used for making up base station coverage area failures, amplifying

WORKING PRINCIPLE
The basic principle of broadband tri band mini repeater is that donor antenna receives the
downlink signal from mobile communications base station, through high selectivity band-pass
lter to well isolate the out-of-passband signal, after amplifying by intergrative power amplier,
then transferred by service antenna; meanwhile on the way of uplink path, signal of mobile
phone in the coverage area is transmitted to the relevant base station after disposing by uplink
amplifying link path by same working mode. It achieves seamless connection between mobile
telecommunication base stations and mobile phone, thus extends the covering range.

Attention:
Just one band is occupied when cell phone is working, therefore, in
general usage of tri band repeater, only downlink and occupied band for uplink
indicating light illuminate.
Switch moving up as 1 makes gain
attenuation, while switch moving down as 0
makes gain remain original. Factory default
setting: all switch down. For example,
when switch 1 and switch 4move up, the
corresponding truth table attenuates 9dB.
When BS connection port receives GSM/
DCS/3G signal which surpasses-50dBm,
indicating light lightens or twinkles. Now
the device receives well and it's able to
communicate normally.
When BS connection port receives GSM/
DCS/3G signal with surpasses -60dBm,

communicate normally.When system internal
self-excitation, the indicating light from Green
to Orange, to overcome the self-excitation
please reference to common problems.

INSTALLATION AND DEBUGGING
Preparation before Installation
Installation Process
Project Reconnaissance Design
a. Conrm the coverage area of broadband tri band mini repeater
b. Forecast coverage effect and conrm project
By reconnaissance on the spot, you can make sure outdoor antenna locations and
then conrm the indoor antenna as per the coverage area you want to cover. The
indoor antenna should be installed in the central point of coverage area. In order
to make project plan more correctly, it is often to go on field intensity coverage
prediction on these areas. Conrm mini repeater working parameter, such as gain,
output power and antenna model and so on to supply theory basis for system
adjustment and testing.
Design, install and debug antenna and feeding system
Antenna and feeding system design and installation are so important parts of tri
band mini repeater project. Antenna and feeding system relates directly to using
outcome from wide band tri band repeater. When doing the design, please pay
attention to the distance between outdoor and indoor antenna, insulation degree and
port VSWR. Cable jamming network should be connected into grounding system

a.Indoor Antenna Installation
Please rstly t the indoor antenna in the middle point of desired coverage area as per
Picture 1 and then directly x the antenna by supplied ower nut board.
b.Outdoor Antenna Installation
Please install the antenna as per antenna mark "UP" in
the outdoor antenna installation process. It can make sure
antenna water-drainage held down. And then make the
antenna hold in postion by assorted two U threaded bolt as
per Picture 2.
Installation of broadband tri band Mini repeater
1. According to the install pitch 384.5*128.5 of repeater, use the electric drill to drill 4
holes in the place that had chosen and put into the plastic plug.
2. Use screwdriver remove the upper cover in repeater (show as picture), the mounting
holes aim at plastic plug hole, then use the screws to x the repeater.

Connect RF cable and power supply as per the remarks on boardband tri band
mini repeater panel, at the same time earth the case of repeater. Connect Service
antenna to MS port, Donor antenna to BS port. Seal the RF cable joint to avoid rust
caused by water leakage, which resulted VSWR in bad and inuence using. Note
whether there are any eyewinker falling into mini repeater or not before turning on
the switch.

System debugging
a. Before switching on the power supply, please conrm the AC power input is standard
value again. Antenna cable and tri band repeater are well connected. Indoor antenna
keeps more 12 meters on horizon and vertical range with outdoor antenna.
b. Switch on the power to start the device, the red indicating light of power supply on the
panel lightening indicates the power has been connected and the repeater has begun
working.
c. Making outdoor antenna in position, now downlink indicating lights lighten or twinkle.
Otherwise, it can change outdoor antenna installation place or tilting angle of outdoor
antenna until downlink indicating lights lighten or twinkle.
d. Please install the indoor antenna in the central point of coverage area. And you go on
cellphone test at every corner of coverage area. According to the test results, please
optimize the mini repeater parameter installation place further and also the syestem
holding priority of up link signal indicating light lightens or twinkles. Right now, it means
that cell phone signal is well and it is able to communicate normally.
e. After nishing the installation, please make sure of spectrum analyzer or other measurement
devices to test relevant parameter whether it is met design requirements, especially to check
the VSWR, receiving and transmitting antenna isolation degree, downlink receiving
led intensity etc. If the receiving led strength is too weak,you can adjust the angle
and direction of the outdoor antenna. If receiving led intensity is too strong, you can
consider adding xed coaxial attenuator in BS communciation port or adjusting pitch
angle so as to lower the receiving electrical level. You also can do attenuation gain
adjustment to lower amplifying function from repeater.
Attention Items of Installation
a. Donor antenna should be installed away from the service antenna, at least 12m, and
the position where is 2m higher than the ground.
b. Service antenna is ceiling antenna which can be installed in ceiling and directed the
axis vertically to the ground. Please select the proper position to make the signals
distributed equally to every corner. If you choose directional atpannel antenna install
in ceiling or wall, put antenna panel directly point to coverage area.
c. After all the RF cable has been installed, you should have an overall inspection to
prevent open-circuit and short-circuit. Because if the cable happens open-circuit or
shor-circuit. one part will not be able to work normally under slight damage conditions,
but it will destroy main device under worse conditions.

Tri- band mini repeater system self-excitation
a.The reason of Self-excitation phenomena: the isolation degree of antenna is not
enough (indicator light shows in "orange")
b.There are two methods to overcome the self-excitation phenomena. One is to
enlarge the isolation degree between donor and service antenna; the other is to
reduce mini repeater's gain. When the desired coverage area is smaller, your can
just use the second method.
When the desired coverage area is larger, you should adopt the frist method. It
mainly adopts the following methods to enlarge isolation degree in project:
1) Enlarge the horizontal and vertical distance between donor and service
antennas.
2) Add barriers, such as shielding net.
3) Enhance the direction of donor antenna, such as paraboloid antenna.
4)Utilize landform and building to enhance isolation degree.
In addition,device trouble and poor contact of cable joints,which cause high VSWR,it
also will cause self-excitation. But generally situation occurs barely. In the installation
project, self-excitation is mainly caused by small isolation degree of antenna and
feeding system.
The simple way to judge whether the device has self-excitation: Connect dummy
load to MS or BS port of repeater, when the power indicator light is on, you can
judge that the device itself exists self-excitation.
Frequent soft handoff (namely ping-pong phenomenon)
It mainly indicates that in the mini repeater coverage area,mobile phone users have
been switched repeatedly among two or more pilot frequencies of base station,and
usually connect into many base stations at the same time. The reason is the mini
repeater antennas are installed improperly; donor antenna has been installed in the
area where the coverage of base stations overlaps, and receives pilot frequency
signals from many base stations,the signals have similar intensity and alternately

d. To prevent affecting signal coverage range caused by oxygenation resulting from
moisture, all joints should be sealed by water-resistant adhesive tape, avoiding
water leakage into mini repeater through cable causing short-circuit.

Mini Repeater with low gain
The reason why mini repeater with low gain mainly is setting gain attenuation. To have
reset will work.
reign. The signal intensities of pilot frequency are still similar after relayed by mini
repeater,and it causes mobile phone to frequently switch among many base stations in
the coverage areas,it named "Ping-Pong" phenomena. When the difference of signal
intensity of each pilot frequency is less than 3dB,mobile phone connects to two or more
base stations at the same time,which makes system control load to excess or causes
over loading. It will increase the possiblity of communication cutting and decrease the
capacity of base station system. This kind of situation usually presents in mountainous
areas,highlands and the city zone with buildings crowded. In order to avoid the "Ping-
Pong" phenomena mainly adopt the follwing measures in project:
a. Change the installation location of donor antenna and direct donor antennas at a
base station until get a stable pilot frequency with strong eld intensity.
b. Change the installation position of mini repeater; do not select the spot in coverage
boundary of a certain base station to avoid interference from the adjacent base
station.
c. Select strong directional donor antenna, such as high gain & big caliber paraboloid
antenna.
