Duringusethetopofthelanternwillbevery
hot. Always lift the lantern using the handle.

PROPANE PRODUCT
This appliance shall only be used with a
propanegascylindercertiedtoAS2469.
IT MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO ATTEMPT TO
FIT OTHER TYPES OF GAS CONTAINERS.
Gas cylinders should be stored outdoors in a
wellventilatedareaoutofreachofchildren.Any
indoorstorageshallcomplywithAS/NZS1596.
Afteruse,turnthegascylindervalveoffand
waitfortheametogoout.
Ifthereisaleakonyourappliance(smell
of gas) immediately attempt to turn off the
cylindervalve.Removetheappliancetoa
well-ventilatedlocationawayfromanyignition
source.Checkforleaksusingsoapywater.Do
nottrytodetectleaksusingaame.
ENSURE MANTLE TIE IS FITTED SECURELY
INTO GROOVE AROUND THE BURNER
AND MANTLE FOLDS ARE SPREAD EVENLY
BEFORE LIGHTING THIS APPLIANCE.

SAFE APPLIANCE LOCATIONS
Thisapplianceshallonlybeusedinanabove
groundopen-airsituationwithnaturalventilation,
withoutstagnantareas,wheregasleakageand
products of combustion are rapidly dispersed by
windandnaturalconvection.
Any enclosure in which the appliance is used
shall comply with the following:
An enclosure with walls on all sides, but at least
onepermanentopeningatgroundlevelandno
overheadcover(seeExample1).
Within a partial enclosure that includes an
overheadcoverandnomorethantwowalls
(seeExample2&3).
Within a partial enclosure that includes an
overhead cover and more than two walls, the
following will apply:
atleast25%ofthetotalwallareaiscompletely
open,andatleast30%oftheremainingwallarea
isopenandunrestricted(seeExample4&5).
In the case of balconies, at least 20% of the
total wall area shall be and remain open and
unrestricted.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Removelanternfromcartonandremoveany
transit protection material.
2. Thelanternmustbeplacedonastable
horizontal surface.
a. Theapplianceareamustbekeptclearand
free of combustible materials, gasoline and
otherflammablevapoursandliquids.
b. Gasorificesandburnermustbekept
clear of dirt and cobwebs. Flow of
combustionandventilationairthroughthe
perforated portions of the appliance must
not be obstructed.
c. Any cleaning agent used on the appliance
should be of a non-combustible and
non-corrosivenature.
3. Properclearancefromcombustiblematerials
must be maintained at all times. The minimum
clearancesareasfollows:

Combustible materials are considered to be
wood, compressed paper, plant fibres, plastic,
plexiglasorothermaterialscapableofbeing
ignited and burned.
Such materials shall be considered combustible
eventhoughflameproofed,fire-retardant
treated or plastered. Additional clearance may
be required for glass, painted surfaces and other
materials which may be damaged by radiant or
convectionheat.
4. Attach the lantern to the specified camping
cylinderandensurethatcontrolvalveisfully
closed.
TO ATTACH MANTLE
Tieorclipmantlesaroundgrooveinburnertube.
Distributefoldsonthemantleevenly.Cutoff
surplus string. Be careful that mantle does not
snag on electrodes and tear.
LIGHTING AND BURNING OFF MANTLE
Light the mantle with a lighted match with gas
turned on slightly. Allow the mantle to burn until
itstopsshrinkingthenopenthevalvefurther
untilthemantletakesitscorrectshape.Close
controlvalveandallowmantletocool,thenitis
readyforuse.NOTE:Themantleisnowvery
brittle and should not be touched.
RELIGHTING AND REGULATING
Once the mantle has been burned off, the lantern
can be relit by inserting a lighted match through
the lighting hole or pressing the piezo ignition
button (if equipped) while simultaneously opening
thecylindervalve.Whenmantleislit,turnknob
anti-clockwisetoincreaselightintensity,and
clockwisetodecreaseintensityorextinguish.
Donotopenvalvebeyondthepointwhere
maximumintensityisreachedasthismaycause
unnecessary flaring, and waste of gas.
REPLACING JETS
Ifthejetshouldbecomeblockedorneed
replacement,removethelanternconnector
assemblytowhichthejetisassembled.The
jetcannowberemoved.Toclearblockedjets
washinpetrol.Donotusewiresorprickers.
If
washingisunsuccessful,fitnewjet.When
refittingthejet,makesureitistight.
REPLACING MANTLE
Carefullyremovealltracesofoldmantle.Fitthe
new mantle by tying or clipping firmly into the
grooveoftheburnertubeandspreadevenlyall
around. The mantle can then be burned off as
describedpreviously.
ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
Clean the body of your appliance using a cotton
clothsoakedinsoapyhotwater.Neveruse
abrasiveorflammablecleaningproducts.Usea
soft brush to clean the burner.
STORAGE
When the appliance is not used it must be
stored in a suitable area to protect it from any
riskofdeterioration.Keepitinawellventilated
area and out of reach of children.
HANDY HINTS
a.Inspectthe“O”Ringandrubberwasher
regularly and replace if worn or damaged.
b. Neverconnectordisconnectthelantern
near an open flame.
c. CheckforgasleakswithSOAPYWATER.
DO NOT USE A FLAME.
d.
Ensure that the area in which the lantern is
tobeusediswellventilatedandDONOTuse
lanternasaspaceheaterintent,caravan,
etc.
e. Ensurethelanterniscompletelyextinguished
before disconnecting from the gas cylinder.
f. DONOTplacethelanterncloserthan60cm
from ceiling or flammable material.
g. Avoidmovingthelanternduringuseasthis
can cause large flames.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
1. Alwayshaveasparesetofmantles.Once
burned, a mantle is fragile and can be
damaged if touched or dropped.
2.Ifyourlanternburnswithayellowsmokey
flame,checktheburnerandairtubefor
spider webs.
3.Thislanternconsumesair(oxygen).DONOT
USEinunventilatedareas.Ampleventilation
mustbeprovided.
4. Provideadditionalventilationforanyother
fuel burning appliances which may be
operating within the same enclosed area.
5. Neverallowtents,sleepingbags,oranyother
flammable material to come within 5 metres
of this appliance.
