5.1PoweringtheMeter
1.Setthefunctionswitchtoanypositiontoswitchonthemeter.

5.3Auto/ManualRangeMode
InAutorangemode,themeterautomaticallyselectsthemostappropriatemeasurementscale.In
Manualrangemode,thedesiredrange(scale)issetmanually.
Autorangemodeisthedefaultmodeofoperation.Whenanewfunctionisselectedwiththe
functionswitch,thestartingmodeisAutorangeandtheindicatorisdisplayed.
ToenterManualrangemode,pressthe button.Tochangetherange,pressthe button
repeatedlyuntilthedesiredrangeisdisplayed.
ToenterAutorangemode,pressandholdthe buttonuntilthe indicatorisdisplayed.
5.4VoltageMeasurements
1. Setthefunctionswitchtooneofthefollowingpositions:
for high voltage measurements.

positiveterminal.
4. Touchthetipsoftheprobeacrossthecircuitorcomponentundertest.
5. Iftheresistanceis30±5Ω(nominal)orless,themeterbeeps.

5.7DiodeTest

1. Setthefunctionswitchtothe position.
2. Usethebuttontoselectthediodetestfunction.The indicatorwillbedisplayed.
3. InserttheblackprobeleadintothenegativeCOMterminalandtheredprobeleadintothe
positive terminal.
4. Touchthetipsoftheprobeacrossthediodeorsemiconductorjunctionundertest.Makea
noteofthevalueonthedisplay.
5. Reversethepolarityoftheprobes,byinterchangingtheprobetestlocations.
6. Touchthetipsoftheprobeacrossthediodeorsemiconductorjunctionundertest.Makea
noteofthenewvalueonthedisplay
7. Thediodeorsemiconductorjunctioncanbeevaluatedasfollows:
Ifoneofthereadingsdisplaysavalue(typically0.400Vor0.900V)andtheotherreading
displaysOL,thecomponentisgood.
IfbothreadingsdisplayOL,thecomponentisopen.
Ifbothreadingsareverysmallor0,thecomponentisshorted.
5.8CapacitanceMeasurements

5.9TypeKTemperatureMeasurements
1. Setthefunctiontothe position.
2. Usethebuttontoselecttemperaturemeasurement.The°For°Cunitwillbedisplayed.
3. Whileobservingthepolarity,insertthethermocoupleadapterintothenegativeCOMterminal
andthepositiveterminal.
4. Touchthetipofthethermocoupletothepartundertest.Keepthethermocoupletiponthe
partuntilthereadingonthedisplaystabilizes.
5. Readthetemperaturevalueonthedisplay.
6. Toavoidelectricalshock,disconnectthethermocoupleadapterbeforeturningthefunction
switchtoanotherposition.
