Distinctive features and benefits (Refer Fig. 1)
How does it function?
The new Bajaj Majesty Instant Water Heater Unit is made of an outer body, inner tank, heating element and safety
devices like Safety Valve, Thermostat, Thermal cut-out and Fusible Plug.
Water enters into the inner tank through inlet pipe at normal working pressure of about 30 P.S.I.
When the tank is full (this becomes clear when water starts flowing through the outlet) switch ON the power supply.
The heating element heats up the water to a predefined temperature. At this point the Thermostat automatically
switches OFF the power supply to the unit. In case the thermostat fails to operate an additional Thermal cut out is
provided as extra safety to prevent over heating.
bajaj electricals limited Page 2 of 5
Functioning of the Thermostat and Thermal cut-out is explained separately.
You can now draw the water out through the outlet. Depending on how hot you want the water, you can control the
flow. Greater the rate of flow, lesser the temperature of water drawn and vice-versa. Because of the design of the
heater and displacement principle, fresh cold water keeps entering through the inlet.
As temperature of water inside the tank drops, the Thermostat again switches ON the power supply to the heater.
When this happens, water starts heating up again. This process continues till you switch OFF the main power supply to
the heater after usage.
How it is made?
Outer casing: It is made of superior quality, rust proof ABS plastic which does not break easily. Available in attractive
colours to match your bathroom decor. This outer casing comes in a unique two piece split design which can be
opened for servicing while the unit is mounted on the wall.
Inner tank: This is made in one-piece from superior grade 99.85% pure electrolytic copper. It comes with a 5 year
guarantee. It is suitable for both hard and soft water. It can handle pressure upto 85 P.S.I. (6.00 Kg/cm
2
- as per BIS
specifications) Normal working pressure does not exceed 30 PSI (2.1 Kg./cm
2
)
Insulation: Bajaj Majesty 3L instant water heater is provided with Premolded Polyurethene Foam (PUF) Insulation
between the outer body and inner tank for high degree of insulation i.e. to ensure minimum heat loss.
The heating element: Bajaj Majesty Instant water heater is available in two models: one with 3 KW heating element
and other with 4.5 KW heating element. The heating element is highly efficient, mineral filled, direct-immersion type
and housed in a copper tube. What's more, it is also "Bajaj" and 'ISI" marked.
Indicating lamps: These are red and green neon-gas filled lamps which indicate the functioning of Thermostat and
Thermal cut-out. They are mounted on the heater unit itself.
Hardware: For long life and easy servicing all screws, nuts and bolts used in the heater are made of rust proof
stainless steel.
Safety Systems:
The new Bajaj Majesty Instant Water Heater is provided with Pressure and Temperature control devices. These ensure
complete protection and smooth operation.
These safety devices are:
Safety Valve: This device is fitted on the inlet. It opens and starts dripping when the pressure inside the tank or at
the inlet exceeds 50 P.S.I. (3.5 kg/m
2
)
Thermostat: A 178 mm (7"), stem type, snap action automatic temperature control device set at 60 degrees celsius
is used. It is also "Bajaj' and "ISI" marked.
Thermal cut-out: A 'Bajaj' marked snap action, bimetallic temperature control device set at 90 degree celsius is
provided as an additional temperature controlling device to prevent over heating. This comes with a push button
outside the unit, which can be reset by hand. This device helps in preventing dry heating of the element in case the
unit is operated without water.
Fusible Plug. In the rare case that the Thermostat and Thermal cut-out fail this plug melts and releases hot water
and steam through the drain pipe. Thus, it prevents any pressure built up. This device can also be used to drain out
the water when the unit is not in use for a long time or servicing has to be done. However, it should be done through a
qualified technician only.
Non return device: There is a siphon hole on the inlet pipe inside the tank of Bajaj Majesty Instant Water Heater.
When pressure inside the tank becomes low, this siphon hole prevents back flow of water. It acts as a non-return
device upto a certain level of low pressure. Thus it prevents collapse of the tank due to vacuum formation.
What are the benefits?
1. A two-year guarantee.
2. Rust proof ABS External body.
3. 5 year guarantee on copper tank.
4. Unique two piece split design, stainless steel screws & nuts and Aluminium flange facilitate easy servicing.
5. Triple safety system with Automatic temperature regulation.
6. Models available in 3 KW and 4.5 KW rating heating elements.
7. Suitable for single point (non-pressure type) and multipoint (pressure type) installation. However, instant
water heaters due to their design and operation are recommended for single point usage only.
8. Manufactured at India's first ISO-9002 certified units.
