INTRODUCTION
Document Purpose
This document outlines the shipping instructions for Symantec suppliers when freight charges are directly
or indirectly paid by Symantec. Below are carrier routing instructions and routing information for your
information.
Important Information
AmericasShipping@symantec.com at Symantec must be contacted regarding sensitive shipments which
may have specialized packing and/or handling requirements. These items include, but are not limited to:
IT Equipment
Fragile items (ex: glass, etc.)
Oversized Items
Non-Standard Packaging Items (oddly shaped, ex: Billboards,
High Value Pilferage Items (ex: items which could be targeted for theft)
Large Shipments (ex: could be palletized)
Etc.
Declared Value/Insurance:
Please use the following if you have any questions
It is Symantec Policy not to request additional insurance or declare a value on the Way Bill for insurance
purposes. If you have a shipment of high value contact Symantec’s Risk Management Group
for instructions. High Value items such as, servers, laptops, cell phones, jewelry, watches etc. are highly
susceptible to pilferage and should be packed and labeled to prevent a theft.
Packaging: Items that are fragile must be packed to ensure they can transport safely in transit. Strong
packaging with sufficient dunnage is required to ensure the item can be dropped from a 3 foot height
without any damage. Large freight should be palletized, shrink wrapped and labeled to ensure they travel
safely to their destination point.
It should be noted, that most express carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL) limit their liability. Limitation for US
domestic shipments is $ 100.00 per package. International Liability limits are based on the Warsaw
Amendment with a liability value of $20.00 per kilo.

CARRIER & ROUTING INSTRUCTIONS
All Symantec Purchased products must ship Freight Collect/Third Party Bill to Symantec. Prepay
and Bill invoices will not be paid by Symantec.
Domestic Shipments less than 150 lbs
These shipments will use express carriers
Ship via the following Symantec Carrier
o Use:
FedEx
o Carriers have multiple service options. Ship the slowest method that will arrive by
Symantec delivery date. Selecting the slowest service will save freight expenses.
o A cost center must be provided either on the PO or otherwise, it must be entered in the
first reference field of the airway bill, as a 12 digit code including dashes. It should be:
3 digit region + 5digit department + 4 digit product
=12 digit GL/Cost center code
Ex: 100-12345-0000 (note: this is an example, but not a valid cost center code)
If any other information is entered in the first reference field of the airway bill, it
must come after the cost center and be separated by a space.
Do not purchase additional services i.e.
o Insurance (Declared Value). It is Symantec’s Policy not to buy additional insurance or
declare value for insurance purposes. Any questions concerning this must be addressed
to AmericasShipp[email protected].
o Signature Services – (exception only, as the carrier passes on the additional charge per
package).
Please ensure that the correct address and contact information is included. This also will
generate charge-back expense if not correct. Minimum information required is; Contact Name,
Contact Address including Suite number, Contact Phone Number, & correct Zip.
PO and APO addresses are not accepted by our small parcel carriers. An alternate address is
required
Domestic Heavyweight Shipments
Shipments greater than 150 lbs, or bulky items or shipments requiring special handling
Please contact AmericasShipping@symantec.com to discuss more economical carrier options.
Shipments shipping to the same destination, on the same day should be consolidated to take
advantage of the heavy weight discounts when applicable.

International Shipments less than 150 lbs
These shipments will use express carriers
EXPORT from the US
o Use DHL
o Supplier or supplier sub-contractor must be the Exporter of record (i.e., using your own
Exporter Identification Number (EIN))
o Supplier must not use Symantec Exporter Identification Number (EIN)
IMPORT into the US
If the supplier or sub-contractors ship from outside of the United States into the
United States, Supplier must be the Importer of Record (IOR)
International Heavyweight Shipments
Shipments greater than 150 lbs, or bulky items or shipments requiring special handling
EXPORT from the US
o Please contact AmericasShipping@symantec.com to discuss more economical carrier
options.
o Supplier or supplier sub-contractor must be the Exporter of record (i.e., using your own
Exporter Identification Number (EIN))
o Supplier must not use Symantec Exporter Identification Number (EIN)
IMPORT into the US
o If the supplier or sub-contractors ship from outside of the United States into the United
States, please contact: AmericasShipping@symantec.com
Subject line should read: SUPPLIER REQUEST FOR INT’L SHIPPING
ACCOUNT
Supplier must be the Importer of Record (IOR)
Note: If the supplier or the supplier’s sub-contractors are currently using Symantec’s Exporter
Identification Number (EIN), you must contact the Symantec Trade Compliance Department immediately
