Introduction
The CurrentWatch™ EPRM Series is a family
of DIN-rail compatible, split-core current
sensors. Product features include a
large aperture, switch-selectable inputs
and outputs and isolation between primary and
secondary circuits. A patented technology
eliminates the use of a magnetic core and protects the
sensor against saturation and damage, which can occur
from continuous exposure to high currents. Models available
up to 400A and with 0-5/0-10V DC or 4-20 mA outputs as standard.
The EPRM Series is also available in True RMS, for working with
nonlinear loads in “noisy” power environments.

Patented Protection Technology
The EPRM Series of current sensors features a patented technolo-
gy that eliminates problems associated with magnetic circuits such
as core saturation. The sensor will not be damaged by momentary
periods of high current, and the output from the sensor is limited to
protect the signal input device.
Quick Install Guide
The below steps can be followed to quickly install a CurrentWatch™
EPRM Series sensor.
1. Run the wire to be monitored through the cable guide and aper-
ture
2. Mount the sensor to a standard DIN rail
3. Connect output wiring with the provided terminal block
a. Use up to 12 AWG copper wires
b. For voltage output models, make sure output load is at least
10 kilohms
4. Choose the correct current range by positioning the Range

Installation
Considerations for all EPRM Series sensors…
•
Place the wire in which current is to be monitored through the
cable guide and aperture of the sensor.
•
Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the gap next to the split core
sensor head, and gently turn the screwdriver to release the latch
•
Repeat for the opposite side of the sensor head, and the top will
come straight off the sensor body.
•
To clamp the sensor head, place it on the axis and press down
firmly until the latches clip in place.
•
Mount the EPRM unit directly onto a standard DIN rail.
ote:N This sensor is not directionally sensitive and can be mounted in any
position or hung directly on wiring with use of wire ties
Setpoint Adjustment
The CurrentWatch™ EPRM Series sensors feature field selectable
ranges. The ranges are factory calibrated, eliminating time consum-
ing and inaccurate field setting of zero or span.
Selecting Range
1. Determine the normal operating amperage of your monitored
circuit
2. Select the current range that is equal to or slightly higher than
the normal operating amperage
3. Place the Range Switch in the appropriate position

Solution for Voltage
Output (0-5/0-10V DC)
Models
Sensor has no
output
Power supply is not properly sized. Check power supply voltage
and current rating.
Monitored load is not AC or is not on. Check that the monitored
load is AC and that it is actually on.
Polarity is not properly matched. Check and correct wiring
polarity.
Output signal is
too low
The jumper may be set in a range that is too high for current
being monitored. Move jumper to the correct range.
The load current is not sinu-
soidal (EPRM Series only).
Select an EPRMR Series (True
RMS) sensor that works on
distorted waveforms.
Output load may be too low.
Check output load, making
sure it is at least 10 kilohm.
For loop-powered models, monitored current is below minimum
required. Loop the monitored wire several times through the
aperture until the “sensed” current rises above minimum.
(‘Sensed Amps’ is equal to ‘Actual Amps’ multiplied by the
‘Number of Loops.’)
Output signal is
always at maxi-
mum
The jumper may be set in a range that is too low for current
being sensed. Change the jumper position.
Output signal is
always at 4 mA
Monitored load is not AC or is
not on. Check that the moni-
tored load is AC and that it is
actually on.
