5. Smart Clip will beep 4 times letting you know that the battery is
correctly installed and that the Smart Clip is ready to be activated.
Key Ring Unit
1. Key Ring Unit comes with batteries pre-installed.
a) With the reverse side of the Key Ring Unit facing upwards, remove
the plastic tab by pulling outwards from the Key Ring Unit battery
compartment.
b) Press and hold the Center Button for one second, unit beeps ten
(10) times with Green LED illuminating at the same time, then
extinguishes. Your Key Ring Unit is now ready to be activated.
2. Battery Replacement
a) With the back side of the Key Ring Unit facing upwards, pull the
battery door clockwise.
b) Place lithium CR2450 battery into holder making sure that battery
makes contact with the internal ring and the positive (+) side of
battery facing up.

Follow your Child Restraint System (CRS) procedures for instructions on
removal and installation of your CRS’s chest harness clip.

Attach the Key Ring Unit to the child’s caregiver’s drivers’ automotive

Using your ChildMinder Smart Clip
Single Unit Key Ring
1. Follow your usual procedures for securing your child in their CRS
system.
2. Upon fastening the Smart (Chest Harness) Clip (insert Smart Clip Part
B to Smart Clip Part A), Smart Clip will began to beep with Green LED
flashing.
3. Press and hold the Center Button on the Key ring Unit for One second
or until Key Ring Unit beeps.
4. The Smart Clip will stop beeping and Red LED will began flashing
on the Smart Clip and on the Key Ring Units. Your system is now
activated (armed).

Battery Installation/Replacement
Smart Clip Battery: Separate Part A from Part B
1. With battery compartment facing upwards, with a coin remove
battery cover by turning cover counter clockwise ¼ turn until you
feel cover click.
2. Remove the plastic strip outwards from under the battery cover and
properly discard.
3. Confirm the placement of a CR2450 battery into Part B battery
compartment with positive side of battery facing upwards (side of
battery with writing).
4. Replace battery cover on battery compartment and secure battery
cover by aligning the pin hole on the battery cover with the pin hole on
Part B with ¼ turn clockwise or in the direction indicated for close.

Low Battery Warning
Key Ring Unit
Upon activation, the Key Ring Unit will emit an intermittent beep while
its Red and Green LEDs flash simultaneously, indicating the need to
replace its battery.
Smart Clip Unit
Upon activation, the Smart Clip Unit will emit an intermittent beep
while its Red and Green LEDs will flash simultaneously, indicating the
need to replace its battery.
CAUTION! Although the ChildMinder
®
System will continue to actively
warn the parent or guardian of unattended parent/child separation, even
during its low battery status, you should replace batteries at your earliest
convenience.
Troubleshooting
DO NOT ATTEMPT to modify either unit. Any modifications to either
unit can void the operator’s authority to operate the equipment and all
warranties.
1. When in the Alarm Mode, the Key Ring Unit’s audible alarm may
only be extinguished by:
a) an eight second delay after the Key Ring and Smart Clip Units
have been returned within 15 meters each other;
b) returning the Key Ring Unit within proximity of the Smart
Clip Unit.
2. Smart Clip Deactivation while Key Ring Unit is in Alarm Mode.
Should the Smart Clip Unit be deactivated while the Key Ring Unit is
in the Alarm Mode (15 meters or more from Smart Clip), the Key Ring
Unit will continue to beep even upon returning to proximity of the
deactivated Smart Clip Unit.
Solution:
To extinguish the beeping of the Key Ring Unit, the Key Ring Unit
must be reset as follows:
a) remove batteries from the Key Ring Unit and then replace batteries
(not recommended)
OR
b) activate the Smart Clip Unit (see “Engaging Alarm System” on other
side) with the continuously beeping Key Ring Unit within 15 meters
of each other.
Learning Feature of Key Ring Unit
Although the Key Ring Unit and the Smart Clip Unit are factory
pre-programmed to communicate with each other, purchase of
supplemental Key Ring Units may be required to “learn” your system.
Learning:
With the Smart Clip Unit activated (Smart Clip Unit Part A and Part B
together):
1. Press and release the Learn Button on the Smart Clip, unit beep will
change and both Red and Green LEDs will begin flashing.
2. Press the Center Button on the Key Ring Unit, the Key Ring Unit will
begin beeping.
3. With a pen, press the Learn Button of the Key Ring Unit. The Key
Ring Unit beep will change while both Red and Green LEDs begin
flashing.
4. The Smart Clip and Key Ring will beep two times and LED will
illuminate Green.
5. The Key Ring Unit is now matched with the Smart Clip Unit.

Multi-Unit Key Ring
Follow same procedures for activation. The Mutli-Unit key ring will
connect with up to 4 Multi-Child Smart Clips. To activate more than one
Smart Clip to your Multi-Unit Key Ring:
1. Activate up to 4 Multi-Child Smart Clips at the same time, then press
the Multi-Unit Key Ring Center Button and hold for one second or
until you hear the Multi-Unit Key Ring beep.
2. The Smart Clips will stop beeping. The Multi-Unit Key Ring is now
connected to all Multi-Child Smart Clips.
Engaging System Alarm
1. The Key Ring Unit will alarm within eight (8) seconds after a distance
of 15 meters from the activated Smart Clip(s).
2. The Key Ring Unit will continuously beep until either:
a) the Smart Clip is opened and your child is removed from the Child
Safety Seat; or
b) eight seconds after the Key Ring and Smart Clip Unit(s) are
returned within 15 meters of each other.
Deactivation of ChildMinder
®
System
1. At the same time, squeeze the release buttons on Smart Clip Unit Part
A while gently pulling outward on both Smart Clip Unit Parts A & B.
2. Separate Smart Clip Unit Part A from Smart Clip Unit Part B.
3. Allow up to 8 seconds for complete deactivation.
4. The Smart Clip will beep 4 times then the Key Ring Unit will
beep 4 times. The ChildMinder
®
System is now deactivated
(Disarmed).
Multi-Child Smart Clips
1. Follow your normal procedures for removing your children from the
child safety seats.
2. You may remove the children from their child safety seat one at a time
or all at same time.
3. As each child is removed from their safety seat (deactivation) the Smart
Clip Unit will beep 4-5 times (allow up to 4 seconds).
4. The Multi Key Ring Unit will beep only one time for each Clip
deactivation.
5. Upon the last Clip deactivation, the Multi-Unit Key Ring will beep 4-5
times and then shut off.
