USB Data Logger
Version 06/07
Item-No. 10 07 27 DL-100T Temperature °
Item-No. 10 07 28 DL-120TH Humidity / Temperature
Intended Use
The battery-operated, compact data logger DL-100T has an internal temperature sensor, the
DL-120TH additionally an air humidity sensor. The measuring data is recorded automatically at
adjustable intervals from 2s up to 24h. At most 32,000 measuring values (with the DL-120TH
16,000 each for temperature and air humidity) can be saved. This enables data recording over
several years.
A space-saving installation via wall mount is also possible.
The data logger is connected to a computer like a standard USB data carrier and read there.
Data is evaluated graphically with an evaluation program. Data export for table evaluation is also
possible.
In addition, the recorded data can be saved for further processing.
A long-life lithium battery supplies the power. This ensures a very long recording time.
With attached protective cap, the product is spray water-protected and can be used indoors and
outdoors.
Use other than that described above can damage the product and may involve additional risks
such as short circuits, fire and electric shocks.
No part of the product can be modified or rebuilt. It is not authorized to use the device if the hous-
ing is not completely shut.
The data logger must not be operated when it is open, i.e. with an open battery compartment or
when the battery compartment cover is missing. Measuring under adverse ambient conditions
like dust and flammable gasses, vapours or solvents is not admissible.
The safety instructions must be followed unconditionally!

General information
The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of safe-
ty and approval reasons (CE).
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children! Position it outside the range
of children as it contains small parts and batteries.
Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children!
Handle the product carefully and do not drop it. Knocks, blows or even a fall from a low height
can damage it.
Do use the device in rooms or at unfavourable ambient conditions in which there may or could
be combustible gases, vapours or dust.
Avoid an operation near:
- strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields
- transmitting aerials or HF generators.
since this could affect the measurement.
Batteries and rechargeable batteries
Batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
When installing the batteries, make sure to pay attention to the correct polarity.
Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is a risk of batteries being
swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause acid burns when coming into
contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves.
Make sure that batteries/storage batteries are not short-circuited or thrown into fire. There is a
risk of explosion!
Never disassemble batteries/storage batteries!
Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
In case of longer periods of non-use (e.g. during storage) remove the inserted battery/accumu-
lator to avoid damage through leaking batteries.
Initial operation
The data loggers are protected against spray water with a protective cap and a rubber seal. This
protection allows permanent logging operation also in damp rooms or outdoors.
The protective cap must be removed for changing the battery or reading the saved data via a
computer.
Pull the transparent cap off the device. The protective cap has a tight fit on the data logger
due to the rubber seal. Twist the protective cap carefully back and forth while pulling until it
comes off.
Prior to data recording with the data logger, you have to replace the protective cap tightly again.
Inserting/replacing the battery
Prior to working with the data logger, you first have to insert the enclosed batteries.
1. With a pointed object (e.g. a small screwdriver or similar), open the casing. Lever the casing
off in the direction of the arrow.
2. Pull the data logger from the casing.
3. Turn the data logger around and insert the battery into the battery compartment observing the
right polarity. Observe of the polarity markings in the battery compartment. The two displays
briefly light up for control purposes (alternating, green, yellow, green).
4. Slide the data logger back into the casing until it snaps into place. Now the data logger is ready
for programming.
A battery change is required if the two displays do not light up when starting the measuring
process or when the red „ALM“ display (3) blinks in 60 second intervals.
The saved data is not lost in case of a battery change or a breakdown during
recording.

Driver/software installation
System requirements:
Operating system Windows® 98/2000/XP/Vista, CPU speed 500MHz (recommended 1GHz),
memory 128MByte (recommended 256MByte), free disk space approx. 55MByte, one free
USB1.1 or USB2.0 connection
Place the CD included in the delivery in the corresponding drive of your computer.
• The installation program starts automatically after inserting the CD. Depending on the system
and its setup, you may however have to start the installation manually.
For this purpose, start the file „setup.exe“ on the CD.
The installation program takes you semi-automatically through the program installation. During
this, you have to accept the license agreement and have the option to define a different instal-
lation directory than the suggested one. Still leave the CD in the drive after installation. The
program icon is created on the desktop („Temperature Datalogger Graph“ or „Datalogger
Graph“)
• Connect the datalogger to the computer when it is ready for operation.
After a brief moment, the computer reports a new hardware and starts installing the USB
driver.
Follow the instructions of the installation program.
After the installation is complete, you can start the program „Temperature Datalogger Graph“ or
Datalogger Graph“ (depending on the datalogger type)
.
In the program, you can preset the datalogger via the
link „Datalogger Setup“ or via the small computer icon
in the function bar.
Help
or the exact description of the individual software
functions is located in the Help menu „Help/Help-
Topics“.
The setup program shows the connection to the datalogger in the top blue bar.
Connected = datalogger is ready for operation
Not Connected = datalogger is not ready for operation or connected.
After successful programming of the datalogger, press the button „Setup“ to save the settings in
the data logger.
A status information appears: „To start the recording process, press the button (8) on the data-
logger“.
Confirm this with the button „OK“.
In the preset interval, the green „REC“ LED (4) blinks in the preset interval twice fast in
sequence. This signals that the datalogger is programmed and ready to start.
Starting measuring
After successful programming, the recording process can be started at the intended location by
pressing the button on the datalogger (8). The start is signaled by the simultaneous blinking of
the LEDs „REC“ and „ALM“.
Once the preset recording rate is reached (example 50), the recording is terminated
automatically.
You can also terminate the recording at any time by reading the data out on a
computer.
The green „REC“ LED goes off. The yellow „ALM“ LED blinks every 60 s.
Reading the datalogger
Connect the datalogger with the computer.
Start the program „Temperature Datalogger Graph“ or „Datalogger Graph“
In the function bar, select „Link/Data Download“ and the button „Download“
Select the location for saving and a file name for your measuring data.
Press „Save“.
In order to display the data immediately, select „View“, otherwise „Cancel“ to leave this menu.
To terminate, close the program window.
Always remove the datalogger from the computer after reading. If the datalogger
remains on the USB port for a longer period of time, the battery may discharge
prematurely.
Disposal
Used electronic devices are raw materials and should not be disposed of in the
household waste. When the device has reached the end of its service life, dispose
of it in accordance with the current statutory regulations at the communal collection
points. It is forbidden to dispose of it in the household waste.
Disposal of spent batteries/rechargeable batteries
As an end user you are legally obligated (Battery regulation) to dispose of exhausted batteries
and rechargeable batteries properly; it is not permitted to dispose of used batteries/
rechargeable batteries in the domestic refuse!
Batteries and accumulators that contain pollutants are marked with the symbol illus-
trated, and indicate that it is prohibited to dispose of in household waste. The
description of dangerous heavy metal constituents are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg =
Mercury, Pb = Lead. You can take your used batteries free of charge to your
community’s collection point or any place where batteries are sold!
You thus fulfil the legal requirements and make your contribution to the protection
of the environment!
