7. Connection
Make sure that the mains plug is unplugged before connecting the device and that the volume
control VOLUME (1) is set to minimum (left stop). Before connecting the device, turn o all other
equipment to be connected to the miniature amplifier.
a) Connecting the RCA Inputs
For the connection of the RCA inputs, only use suitably shielded RCA cables. The use of other
cables might cause interferences.
To avoid distortion or mismatching that may damage the device, only sources with a RCA output
may be connected to the RCA inputs of the miniature amplifier.
You may connect devices with a LINE output level, a CD player or cassette deck, to the stereo
RCA inputs of the miniature amplifier.
These inputs are not suitable for the direct connection of a record player. In this case, you have
to switch an equalizer pre-amplifier upstream.
The white RCA socket of the miniature amplifier is connected to the left RCA output of the respective control source
(e.g. CD player).
The red RCA socket of the amplifier is connected to the right RCA output of the respective control source (e.g. CD
player).
AUX Connection (11)
This is where you connect the RCA output sockets of a cassette recorder, video recorder, satellite receiver, etc.
TUNER connection (12)
Connect the RCA outputs of the radio to these connections.
Connection CD (13)
Connect the RCA outputs of the CD player to these connections.
22
b) Connecting the Loudspeaker Outputs
The line towards the loudspeakers must be a bifilar cable. Insulate all connecting terminals.
Ensure there are no sharp edges which could damage the cables.
Only use loudspeakers with a suciently high load capacity (see “Technical Data”).
Connect the loudspeakers directly to the miniature amplifier.
Do not use headphone adapters or distribution boxes. If you are unsure about anything, please
contact a specialist.
Make sure that all loudspeakers have the correct polarity, i.e. the plus and minus signs must
match.
This amplifier has been designed for a loudspeaker impedance of 8-16 Ohm on each channel.
Only connect one loudspeaker to each output.
To open the loudspeaker clamps, press the red/black plastic surface. Slide the stripped end of the loudspeaker cable
into the aperture and release the plastic surface. The loudspeaker cable is clamped and good contact is guaran
-
teed.
Connect the right loudspeaker pair to the speaker output R (9):
Connect the (+) pole of the right loudspeaker to the red speaker clamp.
Connect the (-) pole of the right loudspeaker to the black speaker clamp.
Connect the left loudspeaker pair to the speaker output L (10):
Connect the (+) pole of the left loudspeaker to the red speaker clamp.
Connect the (-) pole of the left loudspeaker to the black speaker clamp.
23
c) Connecting the Power Supply
The miniature amplifier’s mains switch (4) must be switched o.
Connect the mains plug of the power cable (8) to a socket (230 V/50 Hz) of the public power supply network.
Connection example:
24
8. Operation
Please note that sound controls that are turned up very high already require very high performance of the
amplifier even at medium volume and can easily oversteer it. This results in distortions that may damage
the loudspeaker.
In case of high volumes and/or highly turned-up sound controls, check for distortions and turn down the
volume control or the sound controls immediately to prevent damage to the loudspeakers.
a) Switching On/O
Check again that all connections are correct.
Turn the VOLUME control (1) to the left stop.
Switch on the miniature amplifier with the mains switch (4) (set switch to ON position).
The POWER (3) indicator is lit.
To turn the amplifier o, turn the volume control VOLUME (1) back to the left stop and then turn the miniature am
-
plifier o with the mains switch (4) (put the switch to the OFF position).
If you do not observe this sequence, the loudspeaker of the miniature amplifier could be dama-
ged.
b) General Functions
Turn the sound control (1) clockwise until you reach the desired volume.
With the control BALANCE (5), set the volume balance between the left and the right loudspeaker channels. In the
central position, playback takes place at the same volume via both loudspeakers. Turning clockwise reduces the
volume of the left loudspeaker. Turning counter-clockwise reduces the volume of the right loudspeaker.
With the control BASS (6), set the intensity of the bass playback.
Bass playback is amplified when turning the control clockwise. Bass playback is dampened when turning the control
counter-clockwise.
With the control TREBLE (7), set the intensity of the treble playback.
Treble playback is amplified when turning the control clockwise. Treble playback is dampened when turning the
control counter-clockwise.
c) Operation with External Devices
Switch on the signal sources such as CD players, cassette decks etc.
With the input selection switch (9), select the desired input source (e.g. CD player).
Start playback on your input source, if required.
25
9. Handling
Never connect the power plug immediately after the device has been taken from a cold to a warm environment. The
resulting condensation could destroy the device.
Allow the device to reach room temperature before connecting it. Wait until the condensation water has evapora
-
ted.
Never pull on the power cable. Only unplug it by pulling on the plug.
Unplug the power supply if you do not use the device for an extended period of time.
For safety reasons, disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket in case of a thunderstorm.
Do not listen to excessively loud music over an extended period of time. This may damage your hearing.
10. Maintenance
Periodically check the technical safety of the miniature amplifier, e.g. check for damage to the power cable or the
housing.
If you have reason to believe that the device can no longer be operated safely, disconnect it immediately and make
sure it is not unintentionally operated. Pull the power plug out of the power socket!
It must be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
there is visible damage to the device or to the power line
the device no longer works
the device has been stored for a long time under unfavourable conditions or
after the device has been exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport
Always observe the following safety instructions before cleaning or servicing the miniature amplifier:
Live components may be exposed if covers are opened or components are removed.
The device must be disconnected from all power sources before any servicing or repair work is
carried out.
Capacitors inside the device may still carry voltage even though they have been disconnected
from all power sources.
Only qualified experts familiar with the hazards involved and the relevant regulations may per
-
form repairs.
26
11. Cleaning
The device should only be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth or brush from the outside.
Never use any aggressive cleansing agents or solvents since these may damage the surface of the housing or impair
its operation.
