Habermaaß game nr. 4150
Snowman
A piggy-back competition game for 2-4 players ages 4 and up,
including a variation for players ages 6 and older.
Author: Nicol Schope
Illustrations: Petra Probst
Length of the game: 15 - 20 minutes approx.
Hurrah, it's snowing! Let’s build a
snowman - quickly roll three snowballs
for the bottom, belly and the head.
Then add a hat and stick a nose and
eyes into it ... and the snowman is ready!
Contents
1 game board
4 big snowballs (bottom parts of snowmen)
4 medium sized snowballs (bellies of snowmen)
4 small snowballs (heads of snowmen with eyes, nose and hat)
1 die with dots (1-3)
Aim of the game
The first player who is able to not only collect three parts of the
snowman, but is able to assemble the snowman and be the first to the
finish line wins this snowy game.
Preparation of the game
Each player chooses a color and places the three corresponding
snowballs (bottom part, belly and head) on the corresponding starting
squares. If there are only 2 or 3 players, the remaining pieces remain in
the box. Get the dice ready.

How to play
The player who can remember when it last snowed may start. If
nobody remembers, the youngest player starts.
You play in a clockwise direction. If it's your turn, throw the die
once and move counterdockwise as many squares as dots are shown.
Begin at the first colored square next to the starting squares.
The rules are:
You play with the biggest snowball until you've reached one of the
colored squares leading up to the finish. Then you may move the
medium-sized (belly) and then the snowball which represents the head.
You cannot start moving a snowball from the starting square before
the previous one has reached one of the colored finishing squares.
Once there are various game pieces in the game (one or more on the
finishing squares and one on the circuit), you can choose which
game piece you want to move.
Watch out:
If a snowball lands on a square with a sun, it has to be moved
back to the next free square (if not, it will melt away).
If a snowball lands on an occupied square, it can be moved on to the
next free square. Exception: if the next free square is a sun square it
has to be moved back to the first free square.
It is permitted to jump over the snowballs of other players.
If the last square before the finishing squares is occupied, you can
put the snowball directly on the first colored finishing square.
If you cannot move any of the snowballs, or bring new ones into
the game, your turn is over.
On the finishing squares, your snowballs can not jump over each

other, but you can take them piggy-back style and move them to the
finish (belly on bottom part), head on belly).
•The finish has to be reached by getting the exact number of dots on
the die.
End of the game
The first player to assemble his/her snowman along the finishing squares
and brings it to the finish, wins the game. The other player can keep on
playing until the second and third snowman have reached the finish.
Piggy-back
Variation for 2 - 4 players ages 6 and up.
Aim of the game
Who will be the first to get a complete snowman to the finish?
Preparation of the game
Each player takes the three snowballs of one color and places
them on the corresponding starting squares. Get the die ready.
How to play
As in the basic game you play in a clockwise direction, throwing the die
once and moving as many squares as dots are shown on the die. In this
variation the parts of the snowmen can either be moved one by one to
the finishing squares, or they can be moved piggy-back style (respecting
the order bottom part, belly, head) along the way.You start with the
biggest snowball (bottom part) and, at any moment, can bring the other
body parts into the game. The players whose turn it is can freely choose
the snowball he/she wants to move, but it always obliged to move if
he/she can.

Watch out:
•You cannot jump over your own snowballs but you can jump
over those of other players.
If a snowball lands on a square with the sun, it has to be moved back
to the next free square. If two or three parts land piggy-back style on
a sun square, only the top part has to be moved back. You have to
leave the sun square in the next round.
If one or more snowballs land on an occupied square, you can move
them on to the next free square. If this is a sun square the snowball
on top has to be placed back on an empty square.
If you cannot move any of your snowballs (e.g. towards the end of the
game), then you can't do anything and it's the next player's turn.
If the last square before the finishing squares is occupied, you can
move directly to the first finishing square.
A snowball or the entire snowman can only reach the finish with the
exact number of dots on the die.
End of the game
The first player who gets his/her snowman to the finish wins the game.
The other players can keep playing until there is a second and third
winner.

Attenzione:
all’arrivo. Si può continuare il gioco per sapere chi sarà il secondo e il
terzo.
