Before You Begin...
Overview

This is where the friendly user interface and
multimedia content appear.

Please make sure to release the HOLD button
before the power is turned on.
When using Power On/Off button, hold down the
button for 2-3 seconds to switch the unit On/Off.
According to the original content resolution, the
visible display size maybe different.
It is a normal condition to occur slight heat on the
surface due to the high brightness CCFL backlight
of the display panel.
It is strongly recommended to use the power
adapter (external power supply) when it is
connected to the Mini-USB cable.
There are precision electronic components inside.
Please DO NOT disassemble the device without
authorized technical support.
Please charge up to 5 hours for first time usage.
Reverse button - When you’re playing a file, press
and release to skip back to the previous file.
Stop/Back button - When you’re playing files,
press to stop playback.
Play/Pause button - Press to play. During
playback, press to pause.
Forward button - When you’re playing a file, press
and release to skip forward to the next file.
Power On/Off button - To turn on the player or to
turn off the player, press and hold.
Display mode switch button - If you’ve connected
a cable to the AV/OUT jack, press the button to
switch to AV/OUT to display the player’s user
interface and multimedia content on the
connected video component.

AV/IN - Attach the line in cable here when
you’re connecting the player to and Audio/Video
component, such as TV, VCR, or Camcorder.
AV/OUT - Attach the line out cable
here when you’re connecting the
player to an Audio/Video
component, such as a stereo
receiver or TV.
Earphone - Insert the supplied ear
buds to hear sound.
USB 2.0 port - Attach the small
end (Type Mini-B) of the mini-USB
cable here. Attach the large end
(Type A) to your computer.
DC 12V - Plug in the power
adapter here. When you plug in
the power adapter, the battery
inside of the player automatically
starts charging.

3-way select button - Scroll up to
move selected bar up, and scroll
down to move selected bar down.
When using the player menu, press
to select a highlighted item.
RESET - If your player appears to be
locked up, press the RESET button
(the product with be reset and
settings will return to the factory
defaults).
HOLD button - To make the buttons
inactive, slide the switch to the HOLD
Scroll “3-way select button” to select Main Menu
and press “3-way select button” to enter the
sub-menu of each function.
Press “Stop” anytime when you wish to access
main menu.

Basically, the playback operation mode is similar
for “Video”, “Music”, and “Photo”.
Select “BACK” or press “STOP” on the Main
Menu.
Move the highlighted bar to select file and press
“3-way button” to play.
When the selected multimedia file is playing,
scroll up or down the “3-way select button” to
adjust the volume.
Press “3-way select button” to pause the
playback, and press again to resume.

Select “BACK” to the Main Menu.
Select “RECORD NOW” to start Voice Recording,
and press “STOP” to stop recording
Entering “PLAY RECORD” will display a list of
(*.mp3) files which contain what you just recorded.
You can also modify the record interval from 30 to
240 minutes.

Select “BACK” to the main menu.
Move the highlighted bar to modify the default
settings.

Note: You won’t use Voice REC function if the HDD
space is lower than 20MB.
Note: You won’t use PVR function if the HDD space
is lower than 100MB.
Select “BACK” to the Main Menu.
Selecting “RECORD NOW” will switch display to
the connected video component.
Press “3-way select button” to start the video
recording (there will be red “REC” and timer
showing up), and press “STOP” to stop recording.

Note: You MUST have an external video capture
device, like CCD or TV set... etc., connected to AV/IN
jack to use PVR function.

How to update M firmware?

Connect M to PC via Mini-USB cable and delete
original firmware file (*.bin) from M .
Download the latest firmware file (*.bin) from
Nextar web site and transmit the file to the root
path of M .
Unplug Mini-USB cable and make sure the status
of the device is power off.
Press “Reverse button” and “Power On/Off” at the
same time until the device boots up, and then
release the 2 buttons.
Once the main menu shows up, it indicates the M
System is in the process of updating its firmware
automatically.
DO NOT touch any button while the system is still
updating the firmware.
After 1-5 minutes (it depends on different
version), the system will shut down by itself, and
the firmware update procedure is then completed.
